Chapter 25 - Voice from the Old Well (3/3)

Secrets Revealed and Peace Found

POV 1 – Dita

That night, I descended deeper into the well, gripping the cold rope tightly. The lullaby whispers turned into clear voices guiding me to a small crack in the well's wall.

There, I found an old wooden box. I carefully picked it up and opened it.

Inside were letters and black-and-white photos of a smiling little girl. On the back of a photo was written: "Maria, disappeared in 1950."

Suddenly, a coolness enveloped me. I knew the voice I had heard all this time was not just the wind. It was Maria's spirit, who wanted to be remembered, not feared.

I promised to tell her story so she would never be forgotten again.

---

POV 2 – Bu Mirah

That morning, Dita came to my house, carrying the old box and an unusual story. I cried as I listened.

Maria was our neighbor's child who disappeared decades ago. We were all afraid then, but now I understand: she just wanted to come home.

I helped Dita organize a prayer gathering in the village, so Maria and other lost souls could find peace.

---

POV 3 – Pak RT

After hearing Dita and Bu Mirah's story, I held a community meeting. We agreed to reopen the well with a traditional ritual.

We wanted to keep Maria's story and those of other children alive—not forgotten and turned into a frightening mystery.

The old well has now become a symbol of hope, not fear.

---

POV 4 – Niko

I edited the videos and photos for documentation. This is not just research but a touching human story.

I submitted an article to an anthropology journal about how local communities use stories and rituals to heal collective trauma.

---

POV 5 – Dukun Tarip

I am grateful Dita and the villagers chose the path of peace. Maria's spirit and the others can finally release their burdens.

This is a lesson for all of us—that respecting those who have passed is part of preserving our own lives.

---

Interesting fact: Emotional archaeology studies how past artifacts connect to collective trauma and memory. Local rituals and stories become "medicine" for the community's soul.

Philosophy: "What is forgotten is not only the past but also a part of ourselves that is lost." Remembering and caring for history is not only about time but about the soul.

Local rumor: The old well once considered haunted is now believed to bring blessings to the village after a cleansing ritual and acknowledgment of old stories.
