Chapter 41 - 41. Spin Jump

"Roar!"

Charmeleon opened her mouth and unleashed blazing dragon flames upon hearing this.

Although it was fire, Dragon Rage's flames were dragon-type attacks and wouldn't be weakened by Rock-type Pokémon.

The blazing flames collided with the incoming Rocks, and the former burned the latter down directly.

Despite the numerous Rocks and their decent speed, the dragon flames consumed only a small amount of energy, enough for Charmeleon to burn all the Rocks down. "I forgot about this move, but this is just defense, and you can't win like this.

Don't you understand that if you defend for too long, you'll lose?" "Onix, use Rock Polish!"

Brock's eyes flashed coldly, and he quickly issued the command. Though normal people might not notice the coldness in his eyes, it was there, even if his gaze was squinting.

The Rocks continued to attack Charmeleon, while it used its dragon flames to block the assault.

But Onix was twisting his body, constantly polishing his rocky form. Rock Polish: Polish your body, reduce air resistance, and greatly increase speed!

When the Rock impact ended, Onix had already polished his body, and his rock-covered form was now gleaming.

"Now, while Charmeleon can't react, Tackle!"

"Roar!!"

Onix charged at Charmeleon with impressive speed.

Although Tackle is a basic move, its effectiveness depends on the Pokémon using it.

Could Onix's Tackle be as weak as Rattata's Tackle?

The kinetic energy in this world still applied. Plus, Onix was now incredibly fast, making the attack that much more dangerous.

If Onix managed to land a hit, Charmeleon might be seriously injured.

Of course, this was only possible if it could land the hit.

Onix felt confident in its advantage and charged forward!

Then…

It went straight through Charmeleon's body. Well, through it.

"This is Double Team! When? Oh no, Onix, retreat quickly!"

"Too late, I brought you here just for this moment!"

Brock was shocked, realizing he'd fallen into a trap. He shouldn't have let Onix rush in like that. If he'd kept fighting, he might have won.

But Eddie had been waiting for this opportunity, and he wasn't about to let Brock retreat.

"Charmeleon, use Scary Face first, then follow up with that move!"

Charmeleon appeared, leaping up using the surrounding Rocks.

Onix spotted Charmeleon and, instinctively, looked at her. Then, it was struck by the terrifying look on Charmeleon's face.

It wasn't that scary at first, but under the effect of Scary Face, Onix was frightened.

Scary Face: Stare at the opponent with a terrifying face, scaring them and greatly lowering their speed.

"Oh no, it's too late to retreat now, Onix, hit back with Skull Bash!"

Brock realized Onix couldn't dodge the attack, so he ordered a head-on response. This killer move wasn't meant to be saved for later!

Onix roared to muster courage, curling up into a Stockpile stance. After completing the Stockpile, it shot forward, using Skull Bash.

But during Onix's Stockpile, it was struck by Dragon Flame.

Brock looked at Charmeleon, wondering why it was using Dragon Rage instead of Iron Tail. Was it giving up the opportunity?

To his shock, Charmeleon was still airborne, spinning its body in a way that resembled the move Flame Wheel.

Of course, Charmeleon couldn't use Flame Wheel. It was just Mimic's spinning motion.

While spinning, Charmeleon sprayed Dragon Flame from its mouth to attack Onix.

Not only that, Brock took a closer look and noticed that Charmeleon's tail was glowing slightly, indicating it was stockpiling energy.

"It's using Dragon Rage while stockpiling Iron Tail. How did it learn such a move?" Brock said in disbelief. He had no idea such a move even existed.

"When Charmeleon learned Iron Tail, I had it practice continuously. Although this move might be less useful once it evolves into Charizard, it's been invaluable up until now, like in this situation," Eddie explained with a proud smile.

After completing the hidden mission of the insect catcher, Charmander had learned the move. Eddie had kept encouraging Charmander to practice it, intending to have another powerful move ready. In a battle like this, it could be the key to victory.

"If it keeps attacking like this, Onix will be knocked down before it can fully stockpile. Since it's too late now, let's use Skull Bash in advance!"

Skull Bash is a powerful move, but it requires a period of stockpiling. In the game, it can only be used after one turn of stockpiling, indicating that the preparation time isn't short.

Although "Pokémon Generations" is a game, it's closer to reality, meaning many moves don't require stockpiling but are much weaker without it.

Onix wasn't in the best shape either. It was being attacked by Dragon Flame while trying to stockpile. Who would want to be used as a target like that?

At hearing Brock's order, Onix roared excitedly, stopping its stockpiling. It shot forward directly at Charmeleon.

Onix charged with its head aimed straight at Charmeleon, its body rocketing into the air.

Charmeleon ceased its Dragon Rage and focused on stockpiling energy for Iron Tail.

Though the battle between Eddie and Brock seemed to stretch on, it had only lasted a few dozen seconds. Charmeleon and Onix were already colliding.

Onix didn't make any extra moves. It just charged straight ahead, head first.

Charmeleon, on the other hand, rotated rapidly, increasing the power of Iron Tail as she spun 360 degrees.

Bang! Bang!!

The collision echoed again, and Charmeleon's Iron Tail struck Onix's head solidly.

Onix's power had been greatly weakened due to insufficient stockpiling, and when Charmeleon's powerful Iron Tail struck its head, Onix couldn't charge again.

This time, Charmeleon wasn't knocked away. Instead, it sent Onix, already at a disadvantage, flying.

Having been beaten by Dragon Flame and now struck by the fully charged Iron Tail, Onix was unable to get up again. Its eyes swirled, and it collapsed, unable to continue fighting.
