Grabbing the God by the scruff of their shirt I was silently surprised at how I was able to actually interact with them, before glowering at their young countenance.
"What's your mojo? I may miss my extended family, but don't think for a second that you can bring them here."
Threatening the God of Fun and entertainment, the elephant print pajama wearing God laughed at my threat.
[Whatever do you mean?] Smiling softly, Fun's eyes shone in a kaleidoscope of colors that shimmered before sharpening. [Don't tell me you still don't understand why I showed you this recollection?]
"...I can still hurt you, I'm able to hold you now after all" Loosening one of my hands and making the motion of punching his face, the Young God laughed.
[Even if you wanted to hurt me, you would've done it earlier.]
"..."
Glowering at the God, I nevertheless admitted that what he said was true and dropped my arms.
I wasn't so disillusioned to think that I could actually start hurting Fun for the pain he had first put me through now that I could touch him.
Besides, when I actually tried punching him my fist went straight through his head as if a stone had just disturbed the surface of a lake.
In other words, it was still impossible.
'But one day it will be possible.'
Dropping my arms to the side I rolled my wrist and flexed my fingers before glancing back at the God of Fun that was still looking at me curiously as if I hadn't just tried to lop off their tiny head.
[You really don't give up huh? How vengeful]
"Stating the obvious now?" Tilting my head, I returned to observing my niece and nephew still playing together in peaceful harmony.
Or as peaceful as it could get between siblings.
Watching the two fight by throwing pillows at each other with speeds that would put a fastball pitcher to shame all the while playing Terraria, the God of Fun gestured at the scene.
[Anyways, now that you have vented your anger at me once again, do you realize what it is you are missing now?]
"...What the hell are you talking about?"
Looking at the God of Fun funny, I recalled his previous words and came to the conclusion that I still didn't understand what in the hell he was talking about.
"Realize what? What memories are you talking about jogging here?"
[...] The God blinked. [Is nothing coming to mind when you view your niece and nephew playing video games?]
"...Am I supposed to?"
Staring at the god of Fun funny, he chuckled in amusement
[Well this is funny, you still don't get what you're forgetting?]
"...Unless you want me to play the guessing game or charades, get straight to the point."
[Oohhh that's an idea, we can do charades!]
Clapping his hands together, the God of Fun gestured at the screen playing a heavily pixelated scene of two avatars roaming a floating island.
[You're hint is the game that you're nephew and niece are playing right now]
"I suddenly want to ignore you." Turning to look at the dog gnawing at the table leg, Fun panicked slightly.
[Hey! Fine! I'll tell you!]
"I suddenly have a desire to listen to you" Turning away from the dog that was now trying to gnaw at a bone that my brother gave him, Fun pouted
[You're no fun.]
"I suddenly want to i-" [Hey hey hey! I already said I would tell you!]
Hearing the God panic, I suppressed my amusement and turned to look at the God who was now looking at me like I was some sort of alien.
'Why is he suddenly looking at me like that?'
[Because you're feeling fun over a god's agony.] Staring at me as if I was some sort of monster to avoid, the God of Fun continued much to my bemusement. [How did you not get killed for heresy in your old world?]
"..."
[I'll get back to explaining] Suddenly bursting into laughter and ending it just as abruptly, the God of Fun gestured at my heart.
[What do you think it is I gave you?]
"Pain" Answering without a second beat to spare, Fun slightly caught off guard by how swiftly I answered shook their head before manifesting three cards.
The same three cards that were synonymous to pain in my mind.
[No, I gave you concentrations of power.]
"Through pain"
[You are very petty]
"I am very petty"
[Hah! Honest as well!]
"Just to you"
Shaking his head, Fun flipped over the face of the cards revealing three icons of games that I had grown increasingly familiar with then ever.
[Well anyways, remember how I gave you three powers?]
"Distinctly"
[Use them] Glowering at me with an expression that I had never seen before on his eternally smiling face, I was taken aback.
[It was fun at first seeing you experiment with your powers to save the world from slipping into place between moments, but it's gotten annoying now.]
Snapping his fingers, the front card suddenly appeared in front of my face depicting a man with his back faced towards me, holding a large cell in one hand and a broken rusted blade in the other.
Back embedded with two arrows as the thick red scarf floated behind him, placed atop his shoulders flanked by thick iron colored pauldrons was a blazing head with an orange eye.
The original main character of the Dead Cells series before I was granted the same powers as the eternally undying figure named the Beheaded
Burning to ash all of a sudden, the God of fun continued
[You've been using this guy a whole lot, but you seem to be forgetting the rest of your powerset.]
Snapping his fingers again, the card to his left disappeared and reappeared before my face a familiar block figure appearing in front of my face.
Complete with dark blue eyes, blue pants and light blue shirt, brown hair and beard made themselves prominent as they ran blocky limbed towards an unknown goal, iron pickaxe in hand.
Burning to ash, the second card appeared in front of my face before I had another second to think.
Holding a pickaxe just like steve, the brown spiky haired figure wore a light green shirt and brown pants as he also ran to somewhere unknown.
The Terrarian
Burning away, the God of Fun's face suddenly filled my entire vision as he hung upside down on the ceiling banister.
[Now then, memory jogged?]
"...They're the main characters of the games that I have the powers of?"
[Exactly.]
"And the problem is...?
[That you're not using them enough.]
Slipping to the side of my Niece, her screen seemed to enlarge as I saw distinctly how she began to mine things from behind the safety of a wall, using the materials gained from such a thing to craft better armor and tools.
Distinctly, using those materials to form an accessory which she then equipped onto her avatar, granting bonus effects based on the accessory.
In her case it was to create an amulet that increased her base speed.
"...To be fair, you can't exactly get the materials needed to make accessories."
[Would you if you did have access to the materials?]
"..."
[Not a liar, noted]
Nodding his head, Fun continued to shift her screen revealing item after item, function after function and game mechanic after mechanic, forcefully revitalizing my rusty knowledge of the game.
And when he was done with that, Fun instantly moved to my Nephew, making a motion of turning a gear with his right hand and causing the entire world to swiftly reverse.
Sun exchanging places several hundreds of times in the span of a single second, the frost receded from the windows dozens of times and were replaced by orange leaves followed up by rain drops and followed up by frost once again.
Time began to reverse at the behest of Fun opening my eyes to how in over of my head it was to try and basically assault God every time we met.
'Not that I'll stop, it's just absurd how I haven't been purged'
And as I watched with wide eyes, Fun finally ended up in the place where he wanted, bringing my attention to my Nephews large screen as he began to drill down every single little function of the game system into my brain.
[Now do you recall what it is that you were forgetting?] Crossing his arms, the God of Fun snapped his fingers and caused everything to disappear into a blank soft white that was easy on the eyes
"You basically just stuffed it into my brain so... yeah?" Staring regretfully at the place where my brother's family was once in, the God of Fun noticed my regret and spoke up.
[You know that they miss you just as you miss them yeah?]
"..."
Glancing at the God, I rubbed my arms uncomfortably.
I suddenly missed the undead and how I was able to tear them apart like paper.
[As my chosen with my powers, you know I can grant you... let's say three wishes.]
Smiling childishly, I glanced at the God who was the cause of a lot of the pain I was currently in.
Sure I didn't want to die, sure I was grateful that I was given a chance to live again thanks to the God of Fun's gift of power.
But I didn't like the pain I was given before suddenly being thrust into another world where I had to save it if I wanted to actually live my life.
Whatever the hell it may look like in this world filled with magic and monsters.
"...Let's say two wishes, you already basically brought me to life in another world, I can't get greedier than that."
A smirk crossed the child's face as he floated to my face [Sure, two wishes.]
"I also don't want to redeem them now."
My mind flashed back to the boss cell in my inventory and the impending quantum death of the entire world as I knew it.
"I'm kind of occupied with other things at the moment."
[That's fair.]
Floating to my chest, the God of Fun touched the place where the sigil of the God of Death was placed.
[Now if you want to meet me, just say my name while having fun and I'll come]
"What if I'm not having fun but want to make a wish?"
[Well...] The god shrugged his shoulders. [I guess we'll have to just see shan't we?]
"..."
[...]
Watching Fun spin around in the air, I felt the incredibly aggressive urge to kick him in the head to repay the pain I felt deep in my soul as those three cards were embedded into my body disappear.
As it turns out, I didn't hate the God as much as I thought I would.
[Well back to the world of the waking for you.]
Moving to snap his fingers to kick me out of this... weird dream like reality, I stopped the God before he could
"Hey"
Pausing, a pair of multicolored eyes curiously stared into my soul
"I'm sorry for trying to murder you every time I saw you."
[Oh that's fine]
Waving his hand, the God of Fun smiled brightly [Players often hate the Game developer in soulsbourne games, they still enjoy it nonetheless.]
Snapping his fingers, my vision darkened as I returned to the familiar embrace of sleep.
Eyes gaining a pair of weights on their surface, the God smiled brightly as I fell down.
[Have a nice sleep]
The last thing I saw were a pair of multicolored eyes with a startlingly bright hue.
