Chapter - 1: Survival

------

"...Well, this is fucking weird." The words came out of my mouth in a flat tone, devoid of any emotion. There was no shock, no panic, just a rational observation of my situation.

How could I have reacted differently? A moment ago, I was in my bed, ready to sleep, and now I found myself standing in the middle of an unfamiliar forest.

I had no idea where I was, what the name of this place was, or, even worse, if I was even in the same world...

I stared at my surroundings carefully, searching for any familiar detail. Nothing. The trees, the air, even the smell of the damp earth beneath my feet... everything was alien.

Every single element of that landscape screamed that I wasn't where I was supposed to be. It was surreal, and it unnerved me endlessly, as if I had ended up in some stupid Isekai, with no reference points, which certainly wasn't a discouraging thought for me.

Just then, I heard a cacophony of growls and wild howls echoing through the air, and the bushes all around the clearing rustling in the wind.

...What the fuck? I looked up, just in time to see a huge patch of fur and bones, with crimson red eyes leaping from the foliage toward me, claws extended, saliva dripping from an open mouth full of sharp teeth.

I was about to die.

This thought imprinted itself in my mind the moment I saw it. The beast had emerged from the darkness like a nightmare made flesh, and I was frozen, unable to do anything but stare at it.

My mind had shut down, like a jammed gear, unable to process the horror looming before me. It wasn't like in anime or similar things; there was no mental preparation that could have made me ready for something so lethal to me.

I had never faced anything like this in my life. My heart pounded in my chest like a war drum, my legs shook, and sweat slid down my back.

My brain was shouting conflicting orders: run, fight, surrender.

Yet, amidst that chaos, a part of me seemed to have taken control. It seemed my body disagreed with my paralyzing fear, because it moved on its own.

Without waiting for my mind's permission, my muscles had acted, as if guided by some instinct I didn't even know I had until now.

It was as if something primordial had awakened inside me, an instinctive force that guided my movements without me even realizing it.

Without thinking, with a quick motion, and with unnatural precision, I delivered a direct kick. The blow landed with impressive violence, striking exactly a vital point.

But the most unsettling detail was another. I shouldn't have known where to strike. I wasn't a fighter; I had never received any training.

Yet, my body had moved with the certainty of an experienced warrior...

A loud snapping sound echoed, followed by a thud as I continued to roll backward and got back on my feet, completely stunned by what I had just done.

"What the fuck!?" I stared, dumbfounded, at the massive lupine beast lying limp on the ground in front of me, its neck bent at an odd angle, obviously broken.

And dead.

I stood there, staring at it in disbelief, aware that my display of strength went far beyond the capabilities of any normal human. It was something impossible, and yet, I had done it with seemingly no effort.

At that moment, however, unfortunately, I didn't have time to contemplate the situation for long because, a moment later, dozens of those creatures emerged from the underbrush.

They were all about the same size, but one in particular immediately caught my attention: it lagged behind, as if it were watching the scene with interest.

It was nearly twice the size of the others, and its body was covered in plated bone armor, a clear sign that this wasn't just a mere pawn, but something far more lethal and dangerous.

For a moment, they stood still, silently scrutinizing me. Then their crimson gazes, burning with malice, shifted to the bodies of their fallen companions. Had they been part of the pack?

My eyes landed on the corpse of the lupine beast; smoke was spreading from its body as it began to crumble, as if it wasn't a natural creature of this world to begin with.

I couldn't help but blink, trying to process what had just happened, while a strange feeling made its way inside me, accompanied by a vague and elusive memory.

I stared at it for a moment. There was something about that creature... it seemed familiar, but I couldn't figure out why, or where that feeling came from.

I didn't have time to reflect on it for long, though, because a moment later, dozens of those creatures suddenly emerged from the underbrush. They were all of similar size, but their sudden appearance made it clear that the danger was far from over.

Except for one lingering at the back. It was almost twice the size of the other creatures and covered in plated bone armor, a detail that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Not from fear, or at least not exactly, but from an uncontrollable excitement.

They looked at me for a moment, their crimson gazes burning with malice, as they stared at the remains of their fallen companion. The pack seemed to hesitate, evaluating the situation, but I could clearly sense their murderous intent.

A shiver ran down my spine, but it wasn't fear, nor uncertainty. No… it was something entirely different. My blood was boiling, my muscles twitching with impatience. A new sensation enveloped me: the pure, untainted pleasure of combat.

I took a deep breath, letting the sensation of absolute power flow through my veins. Every fiber of my body vibrated with pure energy, an electrifying tension that made me tremble with eagerness.

I curled my toes against the soft forest grass, savoring the feeling of the ground beneath me, stable, ready to support my next assault.

As I stood, I heard the joints in my feet crack, a sound that traveled through my entire body as I began to stretch.

Every movement I made felt familiar for some reason, like a warm-up before a fight to fully awaken the muscles.

I stretched my arms above my head, stretching every muscle to its limit, then bent forward, easily touching my toes with a fluidity that was almost unnatural.

Every part of my body was awake, ready, hungry. I extended a hand forward, fingers slightly curled, muscles vibrating beneath my skin as the Alpha, imposing and threatening, howled a command to the pack.

In an instant, the others sprang into action, moving like a dark wave, surrounding me on all sides, ready to tear me apart.

But I moved first.

I darted sideways with a fluid motion, dodging the first assault with impressive agility as I closed the distance with a determined step and, without hesitation, drove my elbow into the face of the nearest beast.

The impact was devastating.

I heard its bones crunch under the force of the blow, a dull and satisfying sound that blended with the strangled growl of the massive creature in front of me.

A shiver of pleasure ran down my spine.

Its body collapsed like an empty sack. And without hesitation, I spun in place, delivering a straight kick to the knee of the second wolf that stood in front of me.

The unnatural angle of its limb as it gave way confirmed that the strike had landed. They were so slow. Their movements were predictable, almost clumsy, compared to the reflexes and abilities I was moving with at this moment.

One of the beasts tried to strike me with a claw, but I ducked and slid under its arm, finding myself behind it. Before it could react, I grabbed its head with both hands.

With a sharp and decisive motion, I twisted its neck with all the strength I had. The clean snap of its neck reached my ears, followed by the dead weight that collapsed to the ground.

The others paused for a moment, uncertain whether to continue or wait for a command from the Alpha. It was just a moment, but enough for me. I turned toward the one closest to me, delivering a punch straight to the center of its chest, feeling its ribs give way under the pressure, a strangled scream dying in its throat as it fell to the ground.

Another tried to surprise me from my right, but I anticipated the move. I threw a low hook that sank into its side, followed by a devastating uppercut to the chin.

The crash of its head against the ground was the conclusion of a fight that lasted less than two seconds. My breath was growing heavier, but my body seemed to have unlimited stamina as I could feel my blood boiling in my veins like fuel.

"You should call more minions, otherwise, this will end soon." I slowly turned toward the Alpha, who stood motionless, its red, hungry eyes almost smiling. I smiled too, the adrenaline devouring every trace of doubt or despair that had tried to stop me just moments ago.

I smiled at the lupine Alpha, crossing my arms. "I still don't know what the fuck is going on, but I'm having fun. Aren't you?" I couldn't help but taunt him, highlighting how inferior he was to me.

It snarled fiercely, spreading its arms in a threatening gesture before letting out a guttural howl and dropping to all fours. Without hesitation, it lunged at me, its head held high, a predator determined to overwhelm its prey with pure aggression.

I moved with instinctive reflexes, leaping backward just before its gigantic claws could sink into my flesh. I felt the air slice beside my face, the blow missing by a hair's breadth, but the power behind it was evident.

"A frontal attack?" I commented, a smirk curling my lips. My voice was more curious than concerned. "Not very smart... Or couldn't you really figure out a way to win against me?"

It was incredibly faster than the other beasts, but to my eyes, it moved as if in slow motion. The Alpha lunged forward, its claws cutting through the air in a flurry of furious slashes, but all it took was a smile before I vanished from its trajectory.

Before it could react, I was already in its space. My punch landed with lethal precision, driving straight into its chest. It wasn't a casual strike, but a calculated attack: I aimed for the sternum, compressing the heart between it and the spine, interfering with its pumping function and drastically reducing the blood flow to the vital organs.

The Alpha howled in pain as it was lifted and thrown backward by the impact, soaring through the air and crashing against a tree with enough force to split it in half.

And I stood there for a moment, stunned: "Hey, you're not dead." I mocked him with a sarcastic tone, unable to understand why, but I was enjoying feeling superior to him. The Alpha shook its head, trying to regain its balance, growling furiously as it pulled itself up, claws gripping onto a broken tree stump.

Its breath was heavy, its shoulders rising and falling in a slow and threatening rhythm. Then, with a bestial roar, it dropped back onto all fours, ready to charge at me again.

A wide grin formed on my lips, raising my right arm. "I want to try something." The Alpha lunged forward with all its strength, jaws wide, claws ready to rip into my flesh.

I didn't move. Instead, my right arm stretched out, veins pulsing under my skin, muscles swelling and contracting like steel cables under tension.

Every fiber of my body vibrated with pure power. Blood pumping, my breath slowing, my mind focused entirely on one single point: its head.

Then, my punch launched.

The air around my arm twisted under the pressure. Every tendon, every muscle worked in unison, pushing all my strength into that one blow. The moment my fist connected with the Beowolf's skull, everything seemed to freeze for an instant.

And then... it exploded.

A deafening roar shattered the forest as the Alpha wolf's head was completely obliterated by the impact. A shockwave rippled from the point of collision, making the massive creature's body stagger.

Its knees buckled, and the enormous figure collapsed forward in inertia, crashing heavily to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut. As it lay motionless, its body began to dissolve rapidly, vanishing into the air until it completely disappeared.

I stopped, slowly lowering my still-extended arm. My fist was faintly smoking from the heat generated by the effort, and I took a deep breath, savoring the acrid scent of battle as a shiver of euphoria ran down my spine.

"Fucking hardcore." The words slipped from my lips as I held my open palm, seeing no injury. I scoffed, amused. "I don't know why, but I'm kind of disappointed for some reason," I muttered, not addressing anyone in particular.

It was then that I sensed movement behind me. A soft rustle among the leaves, rapid footsteps closing in with determination. My body reacted before my mind could process the situation: I turned slowly, muscles tense, ready to face whatever threat was coming.

The foliage parted on either side, revealing two figures that burst into the clearing with overwhelming energy. They stopped abruptly, almost stumbling from the force of their run, their gazes locking onto me immediately.

The two exchanged a quick look, then returned to focus on me with intensity. There was surprise in their eyes, surely, but also something deeper. Interest? Evaluation?

But I didn't have time to consider it seriously, because I finally realized where I was. How could I not have figured it out when standing before me were Pyrrha Nikos in the flesh, and beside her, what seemed to be a female version of Jaune Arc?

A shiver ran down my spine as the information solidified in my mind. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me..." I whispered to myself as the weight of the realization hit me hard.

I was in the world of RWBY. A world I barely knew, having watched only the first volume and a few episodes from the second, with most of my knowledge coming from Reddit.

My mind struggled to remember the details. The only thing that came to me clearly was that the Grimm were creatures of darkness... created by some evil god or something like that, with the sole purpose of annihilating humanity.

I rubbed my face, feeling the sweat mixed with dried blood. The wounds I had sustained in the battle against those monsters were minor, but the real problem wasn't them.

The real problem was that this world was a constant warzone, full of superhumans, conspiracies, and constant threats that I could have done without.

Great.

I'm fucked. Yeah, definitely fucked.
