Luna took a trembling step forward.
She didn't need anyone to guide her. The moment she heard Adam Waters say her name, something inside her clicked.
It was the same voice that had told her everything would be okay.
"...Adam?" she echoed, her voice barely a breath.
He turned toward her. "Luna?"
"Yes," she whispered again, her steps more certain now as she walked toward the sound.
The entire hall was silent, holding its breath. Even Nathan didn't speak, watching closely as his daughter slowly crossed the room.
When she reached him, she paused. Then she reached out, her hands gently touching his arms, feeling the shape of his face.
She smiled, her eyes wet. "It's you. It really is you."
Adam Waters looked stunned. "Wait—what's going on?"
"I knew I'd recognize your voice if I heard it again," Luna said.
"That afternoon, I was terrified. You kept me calm. You hid me. You saved me."
Without waiting for a reply, she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.
