"How dare you even suggest Harry could turn dark, you blithering idiot!" Lily yelled at James.
"He's being raised by Snivellus, Lily," James countered. "That's reason enough right there!"
"What in Merlin's name is going on here?" Severus said coming up to them. "And what are you on about, Potter?"
"He's all in a frenzy, Dad because Professor Dumbledore has him convinced that I'm going to be the next dark lord with Marcus Flint as my evil sidekick," Harry said scornfully.
Potter, kindly pull your head out of your arse and quit listening to Professor Dumbledore. He already got you killed once; I would not think you would want to try for a second time."
"Sirius and I will be keeping a close eye on you, Snivellus. The first sign we see of Harry turning dark; you'll be staring out a window at the North Sea!" James threatened storming off.
Harry was bent over grabbing his trunk and missed seeing Lily wave her wand at James, but Severus did. He grinned wondering what she had done to Potter.
They went down to the dungeon where they would floo to the Dragon's Tale. "Matius took Keb and Isis already," Severus said to Harry.
"Good. I sent Hedwig off before breakfast so she should be there when I get there," Harry replied.
They flooed to the Dragon's Tale and Severus shrunk Harry's trunk and put it in his pocket. He then apparated Harry to the gates of Witches Moon and opened them. Tita was waiting at the front door so Harry could go in immediately. Severus disapparated to the inn and apparated Lily to Witches Moon. He shut and locked the gate and he and Lily walked across the courtyard. "So what did you do to Potter?"
Lily smirked. "Let's just say Potter's in for an unpleasant surprise when he wakes up tomorrow."
"Hmm…it is too bad we will be unable to witness it."
"An added bonus is that Sirius will get the full effect from it."
"Even better," Severus chuckled.
The summer was filled with fun; picnics by the small lake or in the white gazebo with the red tiled roof that was near the lake if it was raining, helping Galenus in the greenhouse and learning about the plants and herbs growing there, and flying on his Nimbus 2001 an early birthday present from Lily. He love flying around the grounds with his mom and dad. Of course he had all his school work finished by the time his friends arrived.
The third week in July, all Harry's friends plus Dudley descended on the peace and quiet of the manor, but there was much fun and laughter especially with Fred, George, and Lee around.
Percy and Hermione were thrilled with the library and spent a lot of time in there reading.
Severus woke one morning to find half his hair was red and the other half gold. He of course knew immediately what ingredients they had used and the next morning Fred and George awoke with half their hair green and the other half silver. He kept a close eye on Dudley's weight. It looked as if he had lost some when he arrived and as he continued to eat healthy and get exercise; he began to lose more.
They had a Quidditch match. Cedric and Lee were the captains of each team. Cedric had Fred, Dean, Dudley, Greg, and Harry on his team while Lee had George, Vince, Draco, Theo, and Neville.
Severus had offered to fly Dudley on his broom. He placed a Sticking Charm on him and then explained what a Chaser's function was in Quidditch. "It is similar to what a Forward does in your football."
Lily offered to take Neville up with her as she knew from what Harry had said that he was not comfortable on a broom. She also put a Sticking Charm on him just in case.
Fred and George took their usual spots as Beaters while Harry and Draco were the Seekers for their teams. Cedric and Lee took the Keeper spots and Vince, Dudley, Neville, Dean, Theo and Greg were Chasers.
Percy and Hermione had agreed to act as Referees for the game. Percy went over the closed basket and released the Bludgers and the Snitch and then tossed the Quaffle up into the air. Once the game started it was a hard fought game. He had to call penalties on both the twins more than once. After a fierce battle, Cedric's team was declared the winners when Harry caught the Snitch.
"Are you going to try out for the position of Seeker next year, Harry?" Fred asked. "You'd make a good one."
Harry shook his head. "Thanks Fred, but while I enjoy playing a pickup game every now and then; I'm really not really into competitive sports."
"Well, that's a relief," George added. "Or else Gryffindor probably wouldn't stand a chance against Ravenclaw."
Harry had taken Vince aside and showed him the Quidditch equipment he's gotten for Christmas from James. "I'm not going to be playing Quidditch and I remembered you had said you're going to try out for the Beater position this year.""Merlin Harry, are you sure? These are top of the line equipment."
"I'm sure. I know they're too expensive to be left unused so enjoy."
"Thanks Harry! I will!"
Neville left after only three days because he wanted to spend the majority of the holidays with his parents and July 30th would be the first birthday he celebrated with them in ten years. On the last day before everybody left to go home again, Severus and Lily held a 12th birthday party for Harry. He got loaded down with gifts from his friends and from his parents. Lily admitted that she went a little overboard in the gift buying, but she had missed ten of his birthdays. Everybody's Hogwarts letters had come while they were visiting. Severus sent back all their acceptances with Hedwig and Aesculapius.
