Chapter 58 - Old Teacher Out, New Points In

Tirino started to beat up the shackled teacher, using the fact that he now has a justifiable reason to beat him to act on his own revenge.

We all just let Tirino be and ignored whatever he decided to do with that teacher.

"How did you know what happened?" I asked Atro, the one who asked for help.

"W-well... you know... I just-"

"You were following Alen?" Yani crossed her arms as she looked at the nervous and sweaty student who wanted to come up with an excuse.

"Y-yes..." Atro lowered his head in defeat, his black bangs covering his eyes.

"It seems like you have a secret admirer, Alen" Cole joked and slapped my back.

"I'd say he has more than one" Yani said, glancing first at Kaida, then at the girl we just saved.

Silva had never left my side, clinging to my shirt with her fingers and looking at the ground.

Yani smiled and gently elbowed Kaida, who simply huffed and turned her head to the side.

"Do we really have to keep an eye on him until the academy opens?" Cole pointed at the teacher.

"We could just take him to a knight so they can take care of him by... I don't know... throwing him to jail, and we come back once the director is up" Yani said.

"I don't think that a group of students walking around with a beaten up teacher from Aurum Academy is the best sought for a knight. They might think that we beat him up for no reason" Kaida had planned on being the cautious one here.

"We have Silva here... and I think that her word is more important" Yani replied.

"But that teacher could just talk his way out" Cole added, placing himself on the side of keeping an eye on the teacher by ourselves.

"But I don't think that we can wait until the academy opens to hand him over to the director. We could make a mistake, and he could take that as a chance to escape" Atro said, dividing the group equally between them.

As they kept discussing what to do with the teacher, I glanced at Silva. Her eyes were still red from crying, and her hands were still trembling.

I wrapped one arm around her, making sure she felt a bit safe with me.

She sunk her head on my shoulder, inhaling and exhaling air in an attempt to calm herself.

It seems that this event will end sooner than I expected.

In the game, this plot lasted for a whole in-game week. And it could very well end on the very first day.

I'm glad I got to save Silva, though. She didn't deserve to go through this thing.

One thing I'm getting paranoid about is that I feel someone staring at me with intensity.

I turned my head around to find where my source of worry could be coming from.

The only thing I could notice is that Kaida turned her head whenever my gaze landed on her.

To the point that Yani whispered something into Kaida's ear, making her blush and look at me.

"Anyways, Atro. You should go and get some sleep, tomorrow we have things to do" I said to the other S class student in the group.

"B-but..."

"I can be absent tomorrow as the other three categories cover up for me, but you're the important guy"

"S-sure... I'll go back"

"What are you guys talking about" Cole asked.

Given that the training plan is a secret between S class students, it's no wonder that they have no idea of what I'm telling him to do.

"He asked me to help him train, and the most important thing is to be well rested" a little white lie shouldn't harm anyone.

"You'll help him train? Can we join?" Yani asked with a big smile.

"Yeah, I'd also like to join" Cole said.

Kaida nodded along.

"Ah... well... I don't think that..." Atro wanted to avoid any unnecessary problems.

"If you want to. But Fran is also going to be there" I looked at Kaida when I said that.

"E-even then, I-I do want... to train with you..." she said with a blush on her cheeks.

"Uuuh... okay... I guess it's fine then"

"What! But, Alen..."

"Don't worry, Atro. I'm sure it'll be fine" I waved my hand as a way to calm him down.

"Man... getting trained by Alen" Cole said while clearly imagining things.

"I'm sure that we'd end up being stronger" Yani looked at the teacher that they'd manage to defeat thanks to a surprise attack.

"I-I'm not that good guys... I don't think that you'd end up learning anything new" I tried to lower their expectations.

"You're kidding? After your duel against both Lyon and Cecil, a lot of people see you as one of the top students in the first year"

"I already was a top student before my duel"

"Yea, but no one thought that you were worthy of that top student place"

"That... hurts a bit"

"I did think that you deserved that place" Kaida whispered to herself while looking to the side.

"Seems like she's falling asleep there" Cole pointed at the girl that was clinging to me.

"I'll take her to her house! Wanna come with me, Cole?" Yani said with a jump towards me.

"Why me? Can't Kaida go with you?"

"No, no, no. Kaida has to keep an eye on Netherwind with Alen. Tirino, you're also coming with us!"

Yani tried to take Silva's hand. But she hid herself behind me and avoided any contact with Yani.

"Agkh!" Yani was petrified at Silva's action.

"I-I'll walk her to the D class house..." I said, noticing the awkward moment that formed between us.

"Y-yea... i-if she feels safe with you" Kaida followed up with a disappointed tone on her voice.

______

In the end, I got Silva back to the D class house.

I didn't really know how to start a conversation with her. But she didn't seem like she wanted to talk. She mostly clung to my shirt and looked to the ground.

Except for the ones that were still wide awake despite the late hours, I had to wake up te other students.

And with Silva safely escorted to a safer place, I was ready to go back to where that teacher was.

Before I departed, I saw Silva being surrounded by worried students.

_____

"As you can see, miss Goldenlaw, not only do we have two witnesses, but the victim herself confessed to Netherwind's crime" I said to the director.

All students involved in last night's incident were present in the director's office alongside some other teachers and the leader of the golden troupe.

"Teacher Netherwind, I'm sure you know what this means" the blonde woman said with a menacing tone.

"Of course, esteemed director. I knew what I was doing from the moment I started" the slender teacher said with complete calmness in his voice.

"The only issue I see here is that I was careless enough to be caught. And by filthy rats no less... I'm a disgrace to my family name for losing to mere kids with as much nobility in them a-"

"We get it... you can't prolong this anymore" I had to interrupt him before he prolonged this torturous time.

"Lila... please take this... thing... out of my sight" Hellen began rubbing her temples while probably thinking about how to replace a teacher in such short notice.

The black haired woman with uniform glanced at me before forcefully shoving the now previous teacher outside.

"And you..." Goldenlaw looked at us "you could've woken me up earlier to handle this... now I have to handle this"

"S-sorry, we apologize for not taking that into account!" Kaida was te quickest to apologize and bow to the director.

"Uuuhh... yea... sorry"

Every student that was not Kaida said a version of that.

"Since you're here, go tell your classmates on the E class that you won't have classes for today" the director pointed at Kaida's group.

"You... you can go get some sleep. Have this" she handed a pass to Silva "You can stay at the Golden dragon house for this week"

"And you two" she then pointed at Atro and me "I have nothing to tell you two"

Thank god.

"I lied, obviously. I have to update your placements thanks to the points you've earned"

She gave a notebook to Kafka Crowbell.

"Stident Atro Siuco and Alen from the S class, your placements will not change due to the distance between you and the next rank"

So the points earned here are useless to us.

Atro seemed way more hyped than me by receiving points. Points are usually harder to get, and I just got into too many crazy situations that changed my placements too quickly.

"Rank seven, student Tirino, your rank is enough to place you on rank three in the E class"

Mostly what I expected from him, he's useful this early on

"Rank eleven, student Cole, your placement changed to rank 10"

He does fall behind in placements. It's a shame he also can't keep up with the increase in difficulty.

"Rank five, student Yani, You have taken the number one spot in the E class."

She celebrated with Kaida. Unlike the other two, Yani can keep up with the difficulty increase and is actually a solid unit to take to the endgame.

"And rank nine, student Kaida Thican, your partners said that it was thanks to your strategy that they managed to capture that teacher. So you have been promoted to rank two in the E class"

And with that, the new placements for Kaida's group ended.
