Chapter 90 - A war for survival (chapter 91)

Looking at the gate in front of me, I spread my wings and glanced up at the sky it was beautiful as always the red tint made it even more mesmerizing and unsettling without flapping of my wings, I slowly lifted myself into the air, rising with control

What I had to do now was simple in theory find the girl somewhere in this massive castle without being seen keeping that in mind, I glided carefully, scanning below to ensure I wouldn't be spotted slowly, I passed the outer gates every ten to fifteen meters, guards stood stationed surving the areas

It was difficult to move without drawing attention but inch by inch, I advanced toward the castle after passing the garden, I spotted the main gate were two guards were posted there

What should I do now? I thought, crouching behind a tree that's when I saw it an open a window above, my opportunity to enter the castle

Wasting no time, I began to glide toward it. But just before reaching the window, voices rose from below and my shadow were, stretched across the ground, as the sign of something in the sky

"If the guards see me, no my shadow they'll definitely raise the alarm…"

"Hey, did you hear about the princess ?"

"Yeah… I heard something "

"Look! There's a shadow in front of us !" i gasped " aah fuck "

"What are you talking about? There's nothing there "

"Huh? But I could've sworn I saw "

"Did you drink last night?"

"Nahhh " A burst of laughter echoed outside

Thanks to my Square technique, I slipped into the room before they looked up it was always a relief having this technique with me

The room was large, its ceiling was high and arched a soft silver glow poured down from a chandelier shaped like a blooming flower Midnight-blue curtains framed tall windows. The floor was polished to a mirror's sheen, reflecting the whole chamber like glass. A four-poster bed carved with dragons rested against one wall. Nearby, a fireplace crackled with pale blue flames beside an ornate table and towering bookshelf

I walked toward the door, but a misstep caused my shoulder to brush the bookshelf A few books toppled to the floor with a muted thump Not loud enough to alert someon —but enough to make me pause After a glance at the covers

" How to impress a girl ! " haa ? So someone in the world also read this kind of books

haa "

Looking at other covers i turned to the door and opened it slowly from here on, there was a chance I'd have to fight with that in mind, I moved swiftly

The hallway outside was dimly lit whenever I heard approaching footsteps, I pressed my back against the cold stone wall the castle was a labyrinth of corridors lined with portraits of long-dead royalty

"Where would a princess be at this hour?" I muttered to myself

Then I heard it a soft conversation down one corridor a gentle, as if they didn't want to wake someone

I followed the voices to a door adorned with golden patterns of birds and flowers by it two guards stood outside tall, steady, and visibly bored one shifted his weight from foot to foot the other tried to suppress a yawn these weren't elite guards, just ordinary men assigned to a quiet post

From the shadows of a nearby alcove, I watched them there was no obvious way into the room without being seen i needed to eliminate them before they could react But the distance… even if I formed a Square, I wouldn't reach them fast enough then I remembered

The beads i have there beads

The orbs that floated above my head silent, swift, and lethal. If I targeted their blind spots and struck their vitals, they wouldn't even have a time to scream

" What am I doing… still thinking instead of taking action ?"

I shook the hesitation from my mind Focused on the beads they moved in less than a second, one guard collapsed, blood seeping from his throat. The other turned too late my beads had already pierced several critical points. He dropped without a sound

The floor began to stain red with warmth of there blood

I stepped closer and examined their bodies

"…Dead," I muttered "Delicate and fragile life always swept away by a strong enough wind "

Pushing open the door, I entered the chamber it was dark inside as my eyes adjusted to it, I saw her lying motionless on the bed

He was still unconscious…and it was even better for me

If she remained asleep, I could kill her painlessly no screaming would come from her mouth no struggle it would be… merciful to her

"I'm a kind person," I said to no one "Letting her die without a moment of pain.... I am the kindest person "

There were many reasons I'd chosen the royal palace as my target one of it was Jaipa, just looking at him, I couldn't force him to slaughter those helpless people in the city And even if we had targeted the commoners, it would've taken too long and they'd eventually start to hide, scatter

But here? Killing the princess meant something more it was a declaration a message carved in blood

The king would have no choice but to respond to send his armies to hunt me down with everything he had

I looked at the sleeping girl one last time

"Let's get started, A war for survival "
