Nova took a deep breath and was about to head back to the inn, but his body would not move and that's when he passed out, nothing but darkness before his eyes and a loud thud echoing in his head as his mind went blank.
He had not felt that weak and helpless in a very long time, due to which he could not help but wonder what was causing it. He knew it could not be anything normal and hoped that he would be able to get to the bottom of it soon enough.
The last thought that echoed in his mind was more reflective of his resolve to what he wanted to do. 'I cannot afford these moments, not here, not in this kingdom and most certainly not now.'
Nova's body tensed as his consciousness returned in waves. He stirred on a simple mattress in a small, dimly lit room that carried the faint scent of herbs and metal. The sound of distant footsteps echoed like a heartbeat, slow and measured. Shadows danced along the walls as a nearby lantern flickered.
