With a brilliant flash of white light, a powerful Charizard emerged onto the battlefield!
"Mega Evolution!"
Red raised his left hand, revealing the Mega Ring and began the process of Mega Evolving his Charizard!
As the glowing light of evolution faded, a black-and-blue Mega Charizard X hovered in the air, locking eyes with the colossal Gigantamax Charizard standing across from it.
Both Charizards—each representing a different form—seemed to radiate flames of unyielding fighting spirit from their eyes.
"Roooaaar!"
With a thunderous roar, Leon's Gigantamax Charizard initiated its powerful G-Max Move: G-Max Wildfire—a terrifying surge of Dragon-type energy swirled around its body, erupting into a violent draconic storm aimed straight at Red's Mega Charizard X.
But Mega Charizard X suddenly pivoted mid-air, folding its wings and diving toward the ground. Just as the devastating G-Max attack was about to connect, its claws gleamed with white light as it frantically dug into the earth, using Dig to burrow underground.
With perfect timing, it completely evaded the incoming G-Max move.
Leon and Gigantamax Charizard, so used to brute force tactics, couldn't hide their astonishment.
Who would have thought that the same Charizard that had just been clashing ferociously in mid-air would, without warning, dig a hole and hide underground?
What kind of Charizard even learns Dig!?
It was a direct countermeasure—a sheer, calculated tactic!
If Leon and Gigantamax Charizard had anticipated this, they might've targeted the ground instead to catch Mega Charizard X mid-burrow.
But there are no second chances. One of Leon's limited G-Max moves had just been wasted.
As Mega Charizard X re-emerged from the earth, it was immediately greeted by massive stone slabs crashing down from above, a result of Gigantamax Charizard executing G-Max Rockfall.
This move was executed with surgical intent—an area-of-effect strike designed to bombard both the ground and Mega Charizard X simultaneously.
Unless Red's Mega Charizard X could rocket back into the sky in the blink of an eye, there was no way to dodge.
"Outrage! Dragon Claw!"
Mega Charizard X's eyes suddenly flared crimson, its body glowing with surging energy. As a blood-red aura enveloped it, it launched itself upward. The twin emerald-green Dragon Claws on its arms grew longer and sharper, concentrating all its power on a single point—smashing through the falling slabs and barreling straight toward Gigantamax Charizard!
The focused strike shattered the G-Max Rockfall, but instead of clashing directly with Gigantamax Charizard, it was met head-on by a blast shaped like a dragon—a Dragon Pulse.
BOOM!
An ear-shattering explosion erupted as Mega Charizard X was swallowed whole by the spectral dragon energy.
WHOOSH!
But in the very next instant, the dragon-shaped blast shattered into fragments—Mega Charizard X burst out, bloodied but unbowed, smashing through the Dragon Pulse and surging toward Gigantamax Charizard, now reverted from its Gigantamax form.
Leon's Charizard had no interest in close combat—it pulled back swiftly, scattering massive boulders behind it in an attempt to keep Red's Charizard at bay.
Red's Charizard refused to give up. Even under the strain of Outrage, it forced itself to keep chasing, boosting its speed with Dragon Dance as it closed the gap with relentless fury.
Seeing this, Leon's Charizard made a decisive move—also activating Dragon Dance and taking to the skies to retreat, all while launching a barrage of long-range attacks: Dragon Pulse, Ancient Power, and Air Slash.
But none of it landed. Every last strike was torn apart by Red's Charizard Dragon Claw, shredding the attacks into scattered embers of light drifting down from above.
Though Leon's Charizard was more adept at ranged combat, it wasn't afraid of close-quarters fighting. However, against Red's Charizard—whose Tough Claws ability amplified its physical skills—melee combat offered no real advantage. That was the true reason Leon and his Charizard chose to retreat.
Under normal conditions, it wouldn't be an issue. But now, empowered by Red's presence and the boost from Dragon Dance, Red's Charizard speed—originally inferior to Leon's Charizard was climbing with terrifying momentum, its aura thick with killing intent.
"Bloodline Reawakening Mode…"
"Gaaa..."
Watching the live broadcast, Paul and his Garchomp instantly recognized this unique transformation.
With its Bloodline Reawakening fully triggered, Red's Charizard finally caught up to Leon's Charizard, forcing the latter into unavoidable close combat.
At first, Leon's Charizard held its ground, relying on seasoned battle instincts to hold off its berserk opponent. But as the clash dragged on, it became clear—Red's Charizard wasn't just holding its own, it was getting stronger with every blow. Even more unsettling, Outrage wasn't throwing it into confusion at all.
Realizing it was losing ground and no longer holding the advantage, Leon's Charizard made a swift decision: if it had to fight up close, it would trade blow for blow, adding Dragon Pulse into the mix to maximize damage.
Though Red's Charizard power and aggression were overwhelming, the mental toll of the Bloodline Reawakening—a kind of rational debuff—gave Leon's Charizard just enough of an opening. Time and again, it managed to land well-placed Dragon Pulse counterattacks that struck with incredible precision.
As the brutal exchange continued, viewers could no longer tell which Charizard had the upper hand.
Eventually, after one final mutual assault, the two Pokémon were blasted apart, flying backward and coming to a halt midair—staring each other down from across the battlefield. Their auras surged.
One flared with Blaze, its body engulfed in raging flames. The other exuded the monstrous presence of Bloodline Reawakening, like a dragon possessed.
"Flare Blitz! Giga Impact!"
"Outrage! Dragon Rush!"
One Charizard became a fireball hurtling down like a falling sun. The other charged forward with murderous eyes, a rampaging dragon on the hunt.
BOOM!
A titanic explosion ripped across the sky. The shockwave was so fierce, it looked like it might tear through the arena's protective barrier.
Moments later, two figures crashed down from above, smashing the battlefield and leaving deep craters in the earth.
Both Charizard slowly pushed themselves up, roaring defiantly toward the heavens as flames erupted from their jaws—then collapsed at the same time.
After recalling their respective Charizards, Red and Leon simultaneously sent out their final Pokémon—
Venusaur and Ice Rider Calyrex.
On the surface, Ice Rider Calyrex had a clear type advantage over Venusaur. But this particular Venusaur—Red's first partner in this world—was undoubtedly one of the top three powerhouses on his team.
The moment it took the field, it activated a series of moves: Ingrain, Sunny Day, and Growth, establishing its strategy.
A single stomp triggered a Magnitude-like quake across the battlefield. Its mouth opened wide to fire off a powerful Solar Beam, and dozens of thick vines burst from its body, unleashing a relentless Power Whip assault.
In mere moments, its overwhelming offense pushed Ice Rider Calyrex into a corner, leaving it with little chance to retaliate. The few openings it found to launch a Blizzard were swiftly blocked by Protect and a reinforced Light Screen from Venusaur.
But the most terrifying move was yet to come. From Venusaur's core, a dense cloud of toxins began to spread outward—Toxic Spikes in spirit, but concentrated and mobile. Wherever the haze reached, it left behind a deadly Toxic field.
Calyrex, caught off guard, was poisoned.
With Red's momentum growing and Leon's defenses crumbling, it wasn't long before Ice Rider Calyrex fell—defeated completely by Venusaur.
And with that, the match came to an end.
The new reigning champion, crowned the strongest of them all, was none other than the Champion of the Kanto Region and the Trainer from Pallet Town—
Red!
"An Infinite Growth Build... Venusaur variant? Interesting."
From across the ocean, Paul withdrew his gaze from the broadcast, muttering to himself.
Just recently, Professor Oak had published his research on Growth-Based Training Methodologies and Bloodline Awakening Models.
Though the theories presented were still foundational, they held great practical value.
For someone like Red—already a Champion—growth-centric training likely held limited benefits. But for a heavyweight like Paul's Torterra, this battle offered a tactical insight: the turret-style strategy Venusaur used could be adapted to his own Pokémon.
Against most opponents, this kind of stationary firepower build remained highly effective.
As for Bloodline Awakening, Red's Charizard offered proof. Under extreme battle pressure, it had undergone a transformation—possibly inspired by Mega Evolution or regional resonance—attaining a new level of combat understanding.
Still, it was a bit ironic. The original prototype for this training model—Garchomp—even when empowered severalfold, still couldn't match its "junior" counterpart: Charizard.
