Aurora's words not only had Amalia gaping at her, but the two lovers as well. She could already tell Jenivive and her lover did not believe her, given her status in the Palace and the history she shared with Jenivive. If anything, this would be the perfect opportunity to get her revenge.
So then why?
"Aurora," Amalia called, tugging at her sleeve to catch her attention. "Do you hear yourself? Hide this from His Majesty? She is his Concubine! The Emperor's Concubine! You will be killed along with her if word ever gets out!"

Aurora almost asked, her suspicions about Amalia still evident. Yet she made no reply to the girl, completely ignoring her presence before she took a step closer to the duo huddled at a distance, trying to step away from Amalia.
