Chapter 12 - Isolation

After their cultural class ended, Liens and the others returned to their respective dormitories.

Looking at the dormitory, which was completely illuminated by the reflection of moonlight, Liens recalled the brightly lit, large classroom from earlier, which could seat nearly a hundred people.

Thinking that he couldn't even afford a lamp now, he suddenly missed his modern life before transmigrating.

When he was browsing the internet in his previous life, he saw a saying that ordinary people's desire for transmigration was like a Lord's love of dragons—merely talk, with very few genuinely wishing to transmigrate.

He wondered if his current situation was similar?

In his previous life, he had greatly anticipated transmigration, but now that he had actually transmigrated, he increasingly missed his ordinary life from before.

So, what he yearned for was not transmigration itself, but a wonderful life after transmigration—a new life better than his mundane one.

'Because life is hard now, I miss the good times from before. I really am quite pragmatic,' Liens quietly mused to himself.

However, was the Training Camp's policy of not even providing oil lamps a subtle way of telling them to stop their idle chatter and just go to sleep?

Liens was very compliant. He groped in the dark to find his bed and lay down directly.

He still had many things to do in the other world later, and time was always insufficient.

Seeing Liens's action of immediately lying down to sleep, a roommate next to him, who had been about to call out to him, withdrew the words he was about to utter.

The roommate lowered the hand he had intended to extend, while another roommate quietly spoke beside him.

"Liens is probably too tired and has already fallen asleep... Let's discuss things elsewhere and not disturb him."

The two understood the implied meaning of this statement.

Not disturbing meant exclusion. Liens's behavior, in their eyes, was either foolishness or complacency, making him unsuitable to participate in their plans.

They knew Liens's name because they had introduced themselves to each other when they were assigned together on the first night.

The original intention was to get to know each other, so they could unite later to face their unknown fate in the Training Camp.

The two speaking were Wendell and Wooly. Neither of them was physically strong or had excellent stamina, but they were still much better than Liens.

At the very least, they were older than Liens, and their physical attributes were correspondingly higher.

The other few people in their dormitory, excluding those they had ostracized, quietly left the dormitory together.

At this moment, Liens, immersed in the instance, still didn't know that he had been isolated by a few roommates he had only known for less than a day.

...

Instance.

Time: Afternoon Sword Tendency training.

Liens chose to enter the instance at the time when the Trainer was demonstrating his Basic Swordsmanship. He had some questions about Basic Swordsmanship that he wanted to ask the Trainer.

He just didn't know if he would get an answer.

After all, the Trainer didn't seem to want much interaction with them, the Trainers.

However, some things only yield answers when attempted; if not attempted, the result will never be known.

At this moment, the Trainer was demonstrating his Basic Swordsmanship above, while Liens, hidden among the crowd, watched him. This was the scene during the afternoon Basic Swordsmanship training.

He pushed aside the people standing in front, positioning himself at the very front to closely and carefully observe the Trainer's movements.

The person Liens pushed aside looked at him with some surprise, wondering if this guy wasn't afraid of causing a disturbance and displeasing the Trainer.

One should know that in the morning, the Trainer had just killed a fleeing person with a single sword strike, and the deterrent effect of that strike was very strong.

In front of the Trainer, everyone basically dared not make any unnecessary movements, fearing they too would be killed with a single strike.

Therefore, those who witnessed Liens's behavior were somewhat surprised by his boldness.

Because they were afraid of attracting the Trainer's attention, the person who was pushed aside didn't dare to make any moves against Liens on the spot, only allowing him to stand at the very front.

Liens didn't care about the thoughts of others; to him, they weren't real people but past images.

They were equivalent to NPCs with autonomous consciousness.

As long as they couldn't temporarily affect his actions, he wouldn't pay too much attention to those people. Anyway, he generally didn't stay in an instance for a long time.

After resetting, everything would restart, and any unpleasantness from the previous round would disappear, not affecting the next instance.

After watching the Trainer's Basic Swordsmanship explanation completely again, Liens resolved some issues that had arisen during his previous practice.

However, he still had some doubts, so he spoke directly.

"Trainer, may I ask you a question?"

"How do Basic Swordsmanship movements coordinate with each other to make the execution of Basic Swordsmanship more fluid, natural, and effortless?"

Before the Trainer could respond, the other Trainers beside Liens reacted to his behavior first.

They all distanced themselves from Liens, leaving a large empty space around him.

Liens was a bit too bold, and the others didn't want to be implicated because of him; that would be too unfair.

He also knew that his behavior was a bit presumptuous and might displease the Trainer.

But this was an instance, a past image. Even if the Trainer was displeased, it couldn't affect him in reality. At most, he would just experience the feeling of death again.

Of course, Liens still had some sense; he didn't directly ask the Trainer a question in the middle of his Basic Swordsmanship demonstration, but waited until after the demonstration.

Otherwise, what awaited him wouldn't be the Trainer's answer, but the sword in the Trainer's hand.

The Trainer calmly sized up Liens, then responded to him: "Your comprehension is good. A very important aspect of Basic Swordsmanship is the coordination between various Basic Swordsmanship movements."

"And the reason 'Basic Swordsmanship' is important is that it is a routine composed of many basic Basic Swordsmanship movements."

"It allows you to familiarize yourselves with Basic Swordsmanship movements while naturally getting used to the continuity between various movements, and even develop your own Sword Tendency from it."

"And the reason you have this question is simply because you don't understand 'Basic Swordsmanship' enough, and you haven't practiced enough."

"Many things, as long as you practice them enough, you will naturally understand their mysteries."

"You should all have carefully watched my three Basic Swordsmanship teaching demonstrations just now."

"Now, follow my teaching from just now and begin practicing. You are not allowed to stop until I tell you to."

After answering Liens's question, the Trainer no longer paid attention to him, but turned to instruct all Trainers to begin Basic Swordsmanship training.

Seeing that the Trainer had no intention of continuing to answer, Liens directly started the next round of the instance.

He once again pushed through the crowd to the front, waited a bit, and after watching the Trainer's teaching, he continued to ask the Trainer:

"Trainer, what is 'Sword Tendency'? How can one develop their own 'Sword Tendency' faster?"

The Trainer probably hadn't expected to be asked such a question here, so he was visibly stunned for a moment, but quickly recovered.

"Have you studied Basic Swordsmanship before?"

"Never mind, it doesn't matter. It's even better if you have."

"If you have received professional instruction before, you would know a saying—the body is the foundation of Basic Swordsmanship."

"'Basic Swordsmanship' can help you familiarize yourselves with Basic Swordsmanship movements, and also allow you to understand the changes in various parts of the body when using Basic Swordsmanship."

"Over time, as long as your comprehension is sufficient, you will naturally discover Basic Swordsmanship movements that suit your body, and this is Sword Tendency."

"If you are fortunate enough to go a step further, gain insight into your Sword Tendency, and subsequently develop your own style."

"Then congratulations, you will step through the gate of the Way of the Sword and reach the first Basic Swordsmanship realm."

The Trainer finished speaking to himself, then continued to arrange for all Trainers to undergo Basic Swordsmanship training.

Afterward, Liens repeatedly asked the Trainer in the instance about what the first Basic Swordsmanship realm was, but he did not receive an answer.

Therefore, he no longer wasted time and directly moved on to the next matter.
