Chapter 73 - Breaking The Space Time Barrier

Speed. There is no being in the universe that can match me in it.

No other speedster can keep up with me. Not even the god of speed, Hermes. And why am I so confident in my claim as the fastest being alive? Because I am the other half of the Speed Force, a physical embodiment of a force so vast in size that even greater infinites can't contain it.

It now transcends dimensions, no longer limited to the laws of this multiverse, and I am the other half of this entity, but far more human in nature. Something I cherish deeply because I can let it all go, and truly become a god, no longer restricted by human desires.

But would such an existence bring joy? I do not know, and I do not want to know. Because once I take that step, I might never wish to become human again, and that scares me.

So I will continue to live like this. As Barry Allen. The Fastest being in all of existence, and continues to be human. An anchor for good against the forces of evil.

Because without taking a stance for good, this multiverse might not survive, as almost all cosmic entities similar to me are too neutral in nature, and the ones who only seek destruction.

There has to be someone to stand up to these beings, and only a being such as I can do so.

Today is just another day for me. Running around, keeping this city safe. But I know that a greater danger always looms over the head of every being on this planet, and there will be days I won't just run for Central City, but for the entire multiverse itself.

The year is coming to an end, and Christmas is right around the corner. People of Central City are in a festive mood. The streets have been adorned with lights, and you can find Christmas trees inside every household.

Barry is in his usual clothes, walking around the city, watching people have smiles on their faces.

It has become one of his favorite pastimes. After he became the Flash, the crime rate has dropped significantly, making the people of this city much happier, or at least what he likes to believe.

Barry has the freedom to run as fast as he can. Test more of his powers, and so he begins running again. To see what more he can do, to see what more he can achieve.

Barry knows he can run as fast as he wants, but what else? How can he break the time barrier? How can he break the space barrier?

Because in the TV show, Barry never reached light speed. Even when running at a speed just a little faster than the speed of sound, Barry managed to break the barrier of speed and time.

But the Barry now can run faster than anyone. If anyone should be able to master space, time, and dimensions, it would be him, as he is the Speed Force.

So he runs, breaking the sound barrier, leaving behind a trail of lightning. Tapping into his origin, his true power. He feels the space, time, and dimensions that surround him.

Use his powers, feel them, touch them, and pass through them.

And before he knows it, he sees space and time before him distort, twist, tear and then form a wormhole.

"Fucking did it!" Barry says with a smile and runs right into it.

Barry finds himself inside the space-time vortex, running through it with no effort, no backlash. It is as if he belongs here. He is connected to it through his origin. He has access to it whenever he wishes it to be.

He is its master, something he can command as he pleases.

But Barry doesn't let this feeling of unlimited power consume him. At his core, he needs to be human, he cannot forsake it because the moment he does. He will become like every other cosmic entity out there.

Boom, with the loud bang, Barry exits the space-time vortex and finds himself in the middle of a small old town that is in ruins.

"Where the fuck am I?" Barry questions as he looks around.
