Previous chapter:
The meeting continued with further tactical breakdowns and resource planning until, at last, it came to an end.
As the group dispersed, the Raikage glanced toward Yoruichi, now fast asleep again in Yuna's arms—belly full, face peaceful.
This generation… he thought, with a mix of resolve and hope.
I'll do everything in my power to protect them—and secure their future
------
The Raikage stood before the map a few moments longer, even after most of the others had left the room.
His mind was still racing, weighing the many variables of the conflict.
Even though the strategies seemed solid, he knew better than anyone that war always carried a heavy dose of unpredictability.
Finally, he turned toward Yuna, who was still seated, Yoruichi fast asleep in her arms.
"Yuna, can you stay a moment?"
The kunoichi looked up, curious, adjusting the baby in her lap and nodding. The Raikage waited until the room was completely empty before speaking again.
"I've been thinking about the little one," he said, his voice softer now, less stern — almost paternal. "Yoruichi... I want you to take care of her until Denji returns. He shouldn't be gone more than two days."
Yuna's eyes softened as she looked down at the peacefully sleeping child in her arms.
"I'll do whatever is needed, Raikage-sama."
The Raikage nodded, satisfied with her response.
...
...
...
The next day
In a quiet house, inside a beautifully decorated room filled with bright colors and toys, a baby lay resting.
Her dark skin, violet hair, and striking yellow eyes made her stand out, even at such a young age.
Yoruichi looked around from her crib as two little girls spoke nearby.
"Yugito-nin sister, who's this baby in my crib?" asked a blonde girl with blue eyes and fair skin.
"She's my cousin, Samui-san," answered Yugito, another blonde girl with blue eyes and pale skin.
From her crib, Yoruichi watched them closely — and recognized them almost instantly.
Samui, she thought.
She's just a kid now, but one day she'll grow into a strong, beautiful woman. She stood up to the Gold and Silver Brothers — the ones who killed the Second Raikage and the Second Hokage. That alone speaks volumes about her strength.
Yoruichi then pondered something else — a curious detail she recalled from the future.
Samui is one of the few who didn't fall under the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
She and her brother were saved because they were sealed inside the Benihisago.
Does that mean I could seal myself temporarily during the Fourth Great Ninja War?
If I can't stop the Infinite Tsukuyomi from activating, maybe I can at least avoid falling under its control... by sealing myself and releasing the seal later…
Her thoughts were interrupted as Yoruichi turned her gaze toward Yugito.
She knew that, in the future, Yugito would become the jinchūriki of Matatabi, the Two-Tails.
Based on her memories, Yugito must have received the beast at a young age.
That could only mean one thing: My father doesn't have much time left.
Yoruichi's mood sank. There was nothing she could do.
Even if she wanted to help, she didn't have the power to do it.
She was just a baby, trapped in a body that could barely move.
Helplessness consumed her. She couldn't scream, couldn't speak, couldn't warn anyone.
Her vocal cords weren't capable of anything beyond crying.
All she could do was watch the clock, waiting for time to pass, while her father's fate marched toward an ending she couldn't stop.
Time mocked her.
Tick tock tick tock tick tock.
No matter how hard she tried to comfort herself with future possibilities, her present reality — limited, fragile — made her feel trapped and exposed.
Her mind was that of an adult, but her body and situation wouldn't let her act.
All she could do was stare at the ceiling, feeling the weight of reality press down on her.
...
Hours later, in the same house...
The air was calm, bathed in the soft light of the setting sun coming through the windows.
Yoruichi was still in her crib, gazing at the ceiling with a storm of thoughts until the door creaked open slowly.
Yuna entered, followed by a tall, muscular man with short gray hair.
His footsteps carried a strange heaviness, like each one bore years of guilt and regret.
It was Denji.
"Thank you, Yuna. I'll take care of her for now. I need to speak with the Raikage... but first..."
He paused, looking at Yoruichi again. "I think I need a moment to get to know this little one."
Yuna nodded in understanding, then quickly grabbed Yugito-nin and Samui, leaving the room.
The man slowly approached the crib, eyes serious but kind, and gently leaned in to pick up Yoruichi.
As he held her, Yoruichi felt something unexpected: warmth and safety.
There was something in his embrace that made her feel protected — like she could rest easy, knowing he would watch over her no matter what.
For a moment, the storm in her mind quieted.
But soon, she felt drops falling onto her head.
Confused, she looked up — and saw the muscular man crying.
His sobs were deep and full of pain.
"Hic... I'm sorry, my daughter... hic... I... I failed as a father... hic... I failed as a husband... hic... I'm sorry I wasn't there..."
The tears fell harder, and his voice cracked more with every word.
"Hic... Because of me, you don't have a mother... I'm so sorry, baby... hic... I should've been here with you... I should've come back when I was allowed to and taken care of your mom... hic... I'm sorry..."
Yoruichi felt a strange ache inside.
Seeing this man — the one who seemed so dependable — cry like that made her feel powerless. And she hated it.
Suddenly, a strange red energy began to rise around him, emerging from deep within his being.
But the aura completely ignored Yoruichi, as if it refused to harm her.
It was intense and heavy, spreading like a physical manifestation of his anger and guilt. Yet Denji seemed unaware of it, lost in his internal torment, while the aura slowly took the form of a cat.
"...I'm sorry... So sorry... hic..."
The aura grew thicker, more overwhelming; the embodiment of remorse consuming him.
Yoruichi couldn't bear to watch.
She didn't want this man — the one meant to protect her — to tear himself apart like this.
So she did the only thing she could as a baby: she cried even louder.
"Wua! Wua! Wua!"
Her cries were desperate — but there was something more in them.
As she wailed, she moved her tiny hands toward Denji's neck and hugged him with all the strength her small body could offer.
In her mind, she spoke to him, even knowing the words wouldn't reach.
"It's okay, Dad. It's not your fault. You can cry if you need to... but don't fall apart. Mom's gone, but you still have me. Please... be strong."
To Denji, they were just baby noises. But somehow, those sounds pierced through the fog in his heart.
He paused. The tears still flowed, but something about Yoruichi's little arms around him and her broken cries touched something deep within him.
The intensity of the aura slowly began to fade.
He looked down at the baby in his arms, who stared up at him with bright, steady eyes — and he gave a faint smile.
"Are you trying to talk to me, little one? Hic... That's... really thoughtful of you..."
A faint smile crossed his face, even as the tears kept falling.
Denji held Yoruichi tighter, feeling an unexpected warmth bloom in his chest.
He closed his eyes for a moment, and in his mind, he saw an adult version of Yoruichi hugging him, gently running her fingers through his hair.
"Big dummy..." Yoruichi thought through her babbles.
"You still have me. Please... take care of your daughter. She needs you to be happy."
Just then, Denji felt a soft tap on his shoulder. He turned — and for a fleeting moment, he saw the faint, almost transparent image of a woman.
It was his wife, looking at him with a calm, peaceful smile.
"Take care of her... for both of us, okay, my love? I love you."
And before he could say anything, her image faded like a gentle breeze.
Denji stood frozen, tears welling in his eyes once more — but this time, they carried something different:
Sadness, yes... but also resolve.
"I promise, love. I'll take care of her… I promise, Yoruichi. I'll protect you — even if it costs me my life."
He looked down at the baby in his arms with a warm, glowing smile, dry tear marks still streaking his cheeks.
"After all... I'm your father."

Author's Note:
This chapter is a bit quieter, as it aims to introduce her father and explore a curious theory that occurred to me while perusing the wiki. What's interesting is that, while it may seem random at first, it actually fits perfectly with established lore.
[+] It's just a theory — but one with real support.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, the Gold and Silver Brothers seal Samui and her brother C inside the Benihisago.
They aren't freed until after the war ends and the Infinite Tsukuyomi is broken. This is confirmed in the anime, where we see Darui releasing them along with the other victims.
Because of that, they both avoided the Tsukuyomi and remained sealed until it ended.
Meanwhile, Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi and Sakura only avoided the Infinite Tsukuyomi thanks to Sasuke's quick thinking, who used the wings of his Perfect Susanoo to protect them, suggesting that the power of the Rinne Sharingan stops the technique and that sealing may be the only Other way to survive it.
