The humans had a lot of problems on their hands with the onset of rapid evolution world-wide, and they didn't know it was only a start. The more time passed, the more creatures would evolve.
I could only guess that since the God of Humanity didn't give me extra points for helping humans (so far), he must've been spending them on humans directly. This meant that they would evolve as well.
