Chapter 207 - Chapter 207: Harry's Determination to Rely on Himself

When Cassandra mentioned the Board of Governors seat, Cedric and Kirk both froze involuntarily. After all, the Hogwarts Board of Governors usually held little presence—merely a group responsible for funding the school.

However, this did not mean that the Board of Governors was merely decorative. It was important to remember that the Hogwarts Board of Governors possessed a power that even the British Ministry of Magic did not have—the authority to appoint or dismiss the Headmaster of Hogwarts!

Therefore, when Cassandra brought up the Board of Governors seat, Kirk and Cedric remained silent for a long time. Finally, Cedric tentatively asked:

"Cassandra, are you suggesting... replacing the Headmaster of Hogwarts?"

Facing Cedric's inquiry, Cassandra remained calm and replied:

"We'll talk about that later. But if our Secret Order can secure a seat on the Board of Governors, it will only benefit us, won't it?"

Without waiting for Cedric and Kirk to press further, Cassandra continued:

"I propose that Draco Malfoy joins the Secret Order as an official member. Now, let's vote."

With that, Cassandra raised her right hand.

Seeing this, Kirk did not hesitate, raising his hand as well and saying:

"I agree with the King of Hearts' proposal—only for one reason. Draco Malfoy is half a student of Joker, and that alone earns him a card."

With Cassandra and Kirk both raising their hands, Cedric followed suit and said:

"I agree because he risked everything to rescue his companion yesterday."

Seeing no opposition, Cassandra nodded slightly and said:

"Very well. Since no one objects, I will try to extend the invitation to him soon."

Completely unaware that Cassandra had set her sights on him, Draco was currently caught in a dilemma.

Seated in the stands of the Quidditch pitch, Draco was torn between supporting his own house and his friends. He didn't know whom to cheer for!

Yes, the Hogwarts Quidditch season had begun once again, with the first match between Gryffindor and Slytherin.

Since today was not Hufflepuff's match, Wentworth, Cedric, and Kirk did not come to watch. However, Cassandra, as a member of Slytherin, was present.

Of course, Cassandra had another important purpose—to see if there was an opportunity to invite Draco Malfoy to join the Secret Order.

As the match progressed, Cassandra quickly noticed something more interesting than the game itself.

Harry's broomstick suddenly went out of control, shaking violently. Meanwhile, Cassandra—who had been watching Draco—noticed him blocking a Gryffindor student: the first-year girl named Hermione.

Draco's mouth gaped in disbelief.

"What did you say, Hermione? How is that possible?!"

Hermione anxiously replied:

"It's true! I saw it clearly from the opposite side. Snape's eyes were fixed on Harry, muttering under his breath—he's cursing Harry!"

Seeing Draco's stunned expression, Hermione glanced at Harry, who was clinging to his broom, on the verge of falling. Without hesitation, she pushed past Draco, pulled out her wand, and went to the back of the Slytherin stands.

"Incendio!"

A small flame ignited Snape's robes instantly.

As Snape's robes caught fire, Hermione quickly slipped away. Passing by Draco, she gave him a knowing look.

Gritting his teeth, Draco walked toward Snape and exclaimed in mock surprise:

"Professor Snape, your robes!"

The Slytherin stands erupted in chaos, nearly toppling Professor Quirrell.

Cassandra observed everything, murmuring softly as she watched Hermione leave:

"Interesting..."

In the end, just like in the original story, Harry caught the Golden Snitch, securing Gryffindor's victory.

Yet Harry and his friends could not fully celebrate. They believed Snape had tried to harm Harry.

Determined to uncover the truth, Harry led Ron, Hermione, and Draco straight to Hagrid's hut.

"Hi, Harry! Your first Quidditch match—what a performance!" Hagrid greeted enthusiastically.

But Harry cut straight to the point:

"Hagrid, Snape jinxed my broom!"

Hagrid froze, then shook his head firmly.

"Nonsense! Why would Snape jinx your broom?"

Harry retorted:

"Why is he trying to get past the three-headed dog?"

During their conversation, Hagrid accidentally let slip that the dog was guarding something—something that was a secret between Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel.

The group immediately latched onto the clue: Nicolas Flamel!

"Nicolas Flamel? Who's Nicolas Flamel?" Harry asked urgently.

Hagrid, realizing his mistake, refused to divulge any more information.

As Hagrid hurried away, the four stood in silence. Harry pondered aloud:

"Do any of you know who Nicolas Flamel is?"

All three shook their heads.

Draco suddenly suggested:

"I could write to my father—he'd know!"

Ron sneered:

"Draco, can't you do anything without your father?"

Draco was about to snap back, but Hermione interrupted, her eyes lighting up.

"I know someone who might know! We can ask Wentworth!"

Draco immediately nodded in agreement, and even Ron didn't object this time.

But Harry interjected:

"I want to solve this on my own. We can't always rely on Wentworth, can we?"

Draco, Hermione, and Ron were momentarily stunned. Sensing Harry's determination, Hermione patted his shoulder.

"You're right, Harry. We'll help you."

Ron nodded eagerly.

Draco, still curious, asked:

"But how will we find out who Nicolas Flamel is?"

Hermione smiled confidently.

"Books know!"
