Evelyn grinned at Olivia's sharp response and gave an elegant nod, as if conceding a point in a game they'd both agreed to play.
They stayed in the tea house for over an hour.
Olivia watched every move Evelyn made, but Evelyn did nothing out of line. She ate her pastries slowly, commenting on their taste and ambiance. Olivia took two bites but the food felt like lead. Perhaps, she was thinking way too much but meeting Olivia was not a coincidence. She was the one who had planned it yet, it felt like she was the one trapped.
She looked at the sky again, it was close to sunset. If they want to perform a ritual, they must do it tonight. But why had she not attempted to take her blood? Olivia's nerves were stretched taut. Not because she feared Evelyn, but because nothing had happened.
