"I have not come here to fight with you, Lord Blackthorn. I am only asking questions which are important to clear your name if you had no part in killing the king," said Eugene.
Eugene trusted that Xavier would be so crazy as to attack the town guards. A fight wasn't what he came for, so he had to keep Xavier calm.
"You suggesting that I might have been having an affair with the queen is fighting words for me. Anything which can affect my marriage is a danger I must get rid of. Like always, you have come here with no evidence," Xavier said, opening up the gates.
"I must look into everyone who had issues with the king. It is nothing personal," Eugene said, but he couldn't convince himself.
As soon as he heard the king was killed, Eugene first thought of Xavier. It became quite well known that Darius wanted Selene and given the horrible past between the two men, it made sense to come to Xavier's home.
