Sero accepted the quest, as why wouldn't he? After all, he did not know where he was, and the only thing that could help him now is the system, even though it did nothing to stop him from being killed by that guard. He also wanted to get stronger, and the only other option was him taking on more and more quest, since those gave him stat points, which in turn, increased his "stats".
However, when Sero accepted the quest, he was extremely confused, as the quest request was out of the ordinary. When he accepted it, it gave him two quests instead of one and told him to choose between the two. One was called "The Forgiveness Route" (what does he need forgiveness for?), in which Sero had to help Michael with his quest, while the other was named "The Betrayer Route", which Sero was to kill Michael. The reward for helping the archangel was an amount of stat points ranging from 1-100,000,000 depending on how well he did and a sword called "The Archangel's Punishment" (seems quite tempting, cause a chance to get 100 million stat points is a lot, and not to mention a new sword with an ass name). However, the reward for killing Michael was confusing, as it said ??? instead of a set reward (hmm...quite interesting).
Sero thought about instantly clicking the quest to help Michael, as number one, it seemed less deadly and more doable than killing an archangel, who have quite the reputation of being strong, and number two, had a tempting reward unlike the other one. However just as he was about to accept "The Forgiveness Route" quest, he felt as if a strange presence had taken over him and before he could even realized what had happened, his index finger changed its trajectory and clicked to accept "The Betrayer Route".
The quest then immediately switched to "The Betrayer Route" quest and information on the quest was shown on the screen. It read, "Weakling chose 'Betrayer Route'. Requirements: Kill Michael (No time limit). Rewards: ???. Description: You have chosen to follow the path of betrayal. Good luck."
"Wait, what is going on?" Sero asked with panic. "I did not want this!"
"Want what, human?" Michael questioned Sero, scaring him (seriously, calling him human is not cool man, even if it's true). "What do you mean by you did not want this?"
Sero panicked, not knowing what to say, as if he answered that there was a system that told him to kill Michael, then he would get suspicious, likely resulting in Sero's immediate departure to wherever the dead now go to (I think he's a bit screwed here). So Sero, without thinking, answered, "Umm…nothing at all, just being schizophrenic, nothing to worry about." (My dear boy, what in the heavens name is this excuse, and why do you know about schizophrenia???).
"I guess that is understandable, as you humans have been slaved away for eons," Michael said to Sero (wait…Michael knew? Then why did he do nothing about it??? Author, what is going on???).
Sero looked at Michael dumbfounded, as he he though he heard wrong. He asked himself if he really heard Michael confess that he knew what was going on but didn't do anything about (exactly what I'm saying). "Did you just say that you knew what was going on but didn't do anything about it?" Sero asked him. "You didn't even think of saving us?!"
"Yes human, I did know that you and your people were being tortured and enslaved. I tried to battle these invaders however it seemed as if they were an invincible force. I was too weak to stop them by myself, and because of my incompetence, both Heaven and Earth have been taken over. For this, I truly apologize for not protecting you and your people," Michael suddenly apologized, surprising Sero. "Because of me, you are all suffering. I pray to Our Father everyday to ask for forgiveness on failing my duties as an archangel, and I ask you to forgive me."
Sero did not know how to react at first, as it was not everyday that an angel apologized to him (well, same here). Michael's face seemed unchanged, but there was a sincerity in his voice that said otherwise.
Finally, Sero said, "You know what, I forgive you." (…What?)
Michael seemed to not expect Sero to forgive him that easily, as his unmoving face slightly showed some emotion. He then nodded, and then the expressionless face came back (you know what, I can never understand angels, nevermind a damn archangel).
Sero then asked, "So what do you plan on doing now? There seems to be nothing here for an archangel like yourself."
"I would not have sensed Our Holy Father's presence if it was nothing, so I am going to try to find what he has left for me in this place," Michael answered (wait now that I realize, how did he even get in that room in the first place?).
"Do you need any form of assistance that I can provide you?" Sero asked Michael.
"No, none would be necessary, as you cannot sense Our Father's presence."
What little did Michael know was that Sero actually sensed something powerful in the room, something much more stronger than the archangel, which was confusing to Sero (and when could he even do that?). Sero wondered how he could sense it, however the feeling was very different from what he had expected. Sero sensed warmth and comfort radiating from Archangel Michael, and he expected the feeling of God's presence would be a much stronger version of that. However, what Sero sensed instead was not warmth, not kindness, not even comfort. Instead, Sero felt an emptiness, almost like a void, and an absence of hope, as if someone had shut all doors to freedom from the torture Sero felt every time he was sent to the "Survival Zone" (it's still a cringe name in my opinion).
So Sero left Michael to search for this presence that he somehow felt, while he tried to find a way out of this room. Sero found a door, and when he opened it, he found himself in another hallway.
As he walked, he saw even more paintings of this mysterious glitching entity slaughtering masses and masses of what seemed to be unrecognizable beings. Suddenly, a painting caught Sero's attention. It showed the entity in a battle between what seemed to be an entity of holy power, as it was drawn on the canvas of the being being surronded by a bright white and yellow light. Its expression however, was full of fear, and when Sero looked closer, he could see that the holy being's fingers were cut off and bleeding golden blood profusely.
Sero had a bad feeling, and as he stared at the holy being's face, the man's pure white hair, beard, and moustache being too familiar, Sero noticed that there were little texts at the bottom of the painting at every single one. He read what the text said on the box below the painting he was looking at, and felt his blood turn to ice.
The captions read, "The God of the Heavens".
