As the solemn sounds of the church bells rang out, the various birds that had gathered on the eaves almost overnight all dispersed. The bell sounds reverberated from the Imperial City to the suburbs of the sixth circle, awakening the entire city in an instant. People crowded the streets like flocks of sheep, flooding towards the church for morning prayers.
Among these bell sounds, some heretical bell sounds were mixed in, though few people noticed. After all, Danschel's Imperial City was a city of the True Religion, and even though there were temples of heresy, few ventured there except for the heathens.
Princess Anos woke to the sound of the bells, the first round of church bells ringing at five in the morning, just as the sun began to rise.
She put on several pieces of clothing and went to wake up Mira, who was still sound asleep.
Under the gentle taps of the Princess, Mira woke up, looking at Anos in a daze.
"How...how come it's so early, what time is it now?"
