What exactly is a birthday?
Little Lin Shuang once read in "Reader", "Yilin", or "Story Meeting" that a birthday is the day of mother's suffering, and in ancient times it was even called "the day of father's sorrow and mother's ordeal". This day should be used to thank parents, not to celebrate.
Little Lin Shuang then asked his mother, at that time, his mother touched his head and gently smiled, "How could that be, son? You are the best gift mom has ever received in her life."
Mother picked up an album, turned it open, inside were collected photos of Lin Shuang's birthday from childhood each year.
The first photo was taken when Lin Shuang was just born, he was tiny and couldn't open his eyes yet. Mom held him in her arms, sweat soaking her hair, but she smiled like she found a treasure, with dad also standing beside, holding his tiny hand and smiling broadly.
"Look, how happy mom and dad are smiling, how could there be any so-called 'father's sorrow and mother's ordeal'?"
