The use of "deep" to describe it was because for ordinary citizens, their understanding of Cangshou District was only up to the "mountain peaks" further ahead of Dragon Neck, with the central city's municipal building in between, and what lay beyond was something most residents of the city had never seen with their own eyes.
Just applying for entry to the area inhabited by the upper class and the wealthy required complicated procedures, and the areas beyond the building were usually not open to the general public. Thus, to the average student, Cangshou District was as mysterious as the forest behind the school, with each step further in leading deeper into this mysterious region.
