Chapter 33 - Beneath the Ice

The decision was made without major hesitation. After careful consideration, Furqon and Zafran ultimately selected Facility D-7 in Greenland as the construction site for Interstellar-X.

The reason was simple:The location was cold, remote, and nearly impossible to access without internal clearance from Fortex Intelligence.

When the decision was announced in the meeting room, there were no claps or cheers—Only cold nods from the Liaison Council members—a form of approval far heavier than words.

"Facility D-7 will be fully activated," one of them declared with a firm voice."All non-critical personnel will be relocated. Access will be completely locked down. From today onward, D-7 exists for one purpose only: Interstellar-X."

Dr. Jarir then handed a sealed black envelope to Furqon and Zafran.Inside: logistical blueprints, secret material transport plans, and a restricted personnel list—the only individuals permitted into the project.

"The journey to D-7 will take place in two days," Dr. Jarir added."Prepare yourselves. The weather there is not just cold—it devours those who come unprepared."

Zafran turned the envelope in his hand, as if feeling the weight of responsibility inside it.

"We understand," Zafran replied firmly.

Furqon glanced at the hologram of Facility D-7, now enlarged above the table. The underground tunnels were buried deep within ancient ice layers, forming a hidden labyrinth—prepared decades ago for a purpose even they didn't fully understand.

D-7 was no ordinary facility. It was a remnant of a world that once braced itself for catastrophic collapse...And now, it would become the foundation for something far more ambitious.

That evening, after the meeting concluded, Furqon and Zafran sat on one of Fortex's secret balconies, overlooking the vast compound. The evening air felt heavier than usual—Not because of the weather, but because they knew: this new chapter would be more difficult than anything they had faced before.

"You ready to build something that could change everything?" Furqon asked, his tone half-joking, yet laden with meaning.

Zafran gave a faint smile, gazing up at the grey sky above them.

"We've already passed the point of no return, Furqon," he replied quietly."Now, the only way is forward."
