Chapter 22 - The First Test

The historic day had finally arrived. It wasn't just the Time Travel Division in attendance—every division within Fortex Intelligence had gathered at the secret facility to witness the first trial of the time machine. The main observation chamber buzzed with excitement, packed with scientists, technicians, and personnel from various departments, all eager to see the advanced technology that had, until now, existed only as theory on paper.

At the center of the room stood the first prototype of the time machine—a compact device radiating a mysterious, bluish glow from its energy core. Though much smaller than most had imagined, everyone present understood that size was irrelevant. What truly mattered was the technology it housed, and the immense potential it held.

Furqon and Zafran, heads of the Time Travel Division, stood at the front of the room. Dressed in their formal uniforms, they bore the insignia of authority—and the weight of responsibility that came with it. Gibran, one of their colleagues from the Unified Division, stood farther back among the observers. Although he wasn't directly involved in the test, the look of awe on his face mirrored the sentiment of the room.

"All systems are connected," Furqon reported as he reviewed the main control panel. "Reactor is stable. All components are responding normally."

Zafran gave a nod, his eyes locked on the large holographic screen displaying real-time data. He scrutinized every subtle shift, alert for any anomaly. "No signs of irregularities so far. We're good to proceed."

Dr. Irzi stepped forward into the center of the room, his expression calm but brimming with enthusiasm."Colleagues, today we stand at the edge of history. This time machine, though only a prototype, is the embodiment of our collective effort and determination. It's not just a success for the Time Travel Division—but a milestone for all of Fortex Intelligence."

Dr. Jarir, standing beside him, added in a firm tone,"Remember, this is only the first step. As monumental as this moment is, we must remain cautious and ensure every procedure is executed flawlessly. Safety is our highest priority."

Elsewhere in the room, murmurs began to spread among several division members. A rumor had surfaced: one of the High Council members might be observing the trial in secret. But no one could confirm its truth.

The countdown began:10... 9... 8...

Silence fell. All eyes turned to the time machine as technicians in the control room monitored the readouts with laser focus.

When the countdown reached zero, the machine came to life. Blue energy surged from its core, casting brilliant sparkles of light. The room vibrated slightly, but everything remained within safe thresholds.

"Reactor stable," a technician reported. "Systems operating as designed."

A soft wave of cheers rippled through the back of the room, though most remained focused on the data streaming across the screens. Dr. Irzi's smile widened—he was clearly proud.

"First trial is a success," he announced, triumphant.

Applause broke out across the chamber, filling the space with energy and excitement. Even Gibran, though merely an observer, clapped with enthusiasm. Amid the celebration, Zafran turned to Furqon.

"So, it worked. But I'm sure tougher challenges lie ahead," he said, his tone serious.

Furqon gave a faint smile. "No doubt. But this is the first step—and I believe it's one in the right direction."

Even as the moment brimmed with joy, the mystery of the High Council member's rumored presence lingered in the air. Perhaps, one day, they would discover who had silently witnessed this historic leap forward.
