Chapter 33 - Settling Scores Part 3

*Kenichi's POV*

Although this whole situation was a real nuisance, I have to admit that the rewards I have obtained are welcome. While it's true that, apart from the Busoshoku, the rewards I got from Ranko and Yukana weren't that impressive, I can't deny the usefulness of this skill.

"The Perfect Crime"

It's a skill that originally belonged to Mushitarō Oguri, a supporting character in a manga and anime called "Bungo Stray Dogs". The story is about Nakajima Atsushi, a young man with supernatural powers who joins the Armed Detective Agency in Yokohama. The agency is dedicated to solving cases that are too dangerous for the police, often involving other users of supernatural abilities. The story focuses on the struggles of the agency's members against the mob, terrorists and other individuals with powers.

Kenichi: (Personally, I quite like this story; it's a mix of action, comedy, drama and mystery... But most importantly, the abilities that the characters have are quite interesting.)

"The Perfect Crime" is a very good example, although it is a non-combat skill. With it, I can disrupt security cameras and erase any trace of my presence.

It's the kind of skill I need most for this kind of situation. But while it is useful, it also has some disadvantages; I knew this the moment I finished reading the description and received the reward. If I want to use this ability frequently, I will have to be careful and always be aware of these disadvantages:

1. it cannot alter memories; that means that, if a person personally sees a particular crime unfold, the skill cannot erase that kind of evidence in the witness's memory.

2. It has a time limit; "The Perfect Crime" is not a continuous ability and can only be used for a limited period of time after a crime is committed.

3. I have to be aware that I have committed a crime in order for the skill to be used to "erase" the evidence. If I am not aware, the ability cannot be activated.

Those are the three disadvantages of this ability; among them, the most problematic is the time limit.

The amount of time the skill is active depends on the scale of the crime I am committing. If it is a less serious crime, such as stealing, breaking into restricted areas or fraud, the skill is only active for a few hours or, at most, a day. But if it is a crime such as murder, the time can extend over several weeks or even months, depending on the severity of the murder.

In this case, I did breaking and entering, theft of confidential information, theft of property and valuables, and excessive use of violence that can be considered as attempted murder. With all these crimes, I have enough for the skill to be active for a week.

Also, depending on the monetary value of what I'm stealing or the importance of the information I steal, the time can also be extended.

Kenichi: (From what I saw in the purchase records and receipts, the supernatural items and Treasure Tools that Councilman Gonta bought are valued at several hundred million US dollars. If I steal them, the time should be extended by several more days).

While I was thinking about that, I kept walking until I reached the basement of the house.

When I went downstairs, I was surprised to see a large circular door made of solid steel, like the ones you see in bank vaults. At a glance, I could tell that it was made of reinforced concrete and steel. From what I understand, these vaults are known for their high security, including complex locking mechanisms and advanced security systems. They are also designed to resist threats such as fire, flooding and even burglary attempts.

The door was equipped with complex locks and an advanced password security system that made it impossible for any unknown person to open.

Kenichi: (But in this case, that's not a problem; that idiot Oga had the password recorded on his mobile phone, so I can get in without any trouble).

In one of his chat conversations with his friends, he said that one day he saw his father enter the password and took the opportunity to secretly take a picture of him. Apparently, he's been stealing money from her in order to finance his own activities.

Kenichi: (How stupid are these father and son? They have high-tech security, but they're so arrogant that they didn't even bother to be careful with passwords. Anyone with a good knowledge of hacking could have obtained all the information without bothering to break into the house).

After I typed in the password, the door began to open automatically, a clear demonstration of how advanced the security system was.

Kenichi: "..."

Just like the outside, the inside of the vault was also just like the banks; all the walls were surrounded by numerous safe deposit boxes in which all the cash was stored.

I looked at them for a few seconds, but after a while I lost interest and kept walking. To begin with, my aim in coming to this place is not to steal money; in fact, if it weren't for the supernatural side of the world to be kept hidden, I wouldn't even bother to come to this place to steal.

I cannot deny that I am somewhat interested in the capabilities of the Treasure Tools stored in this vault, but it is also a fact that, in the wrong hands, these supernatural objects can be very dangerous. That's why they are best stored in the family's secret room.

Kenichi: (Although most of the Treasure Tools sold on that website are of E and F rank, it seems that there are occasionally auctions where higher quality Treasure Tools are offered. Councillor Gonta's records state that he spent hundreds of millions of yen on the purchase of a Treasure Tool.)

After thinking about it, I walked towards the safe deposit boxes at the back of the vault. Thanks to the distinctive aura emanating from them, I could tell for sure that this is where the supernatural objects were stored.

As I had already taken too much time going through the whole house, I didn't bother to check the contents of the safe deposit boxes; I simply took them all and stored them inside my Dimensional Bag. I was no longer in the mood to drag all this out.

Kenichi: (Besides, if I take too long, there's a high probability that Oga will die).

The treatment I gave him was only to prevent him from bleeding to death, but his condition is still serious. If he is not treated in the next few hours, he will definitely die.

Kenichi: (I can't let him die; he's a gold mine that will earn me a lot of Osore points).

Although my feelings are still conflicted when I think of killing humans, when I remember all the things Oga has done and all the lives he has ruined so far, I feel that I wouldn't mind if he died. In fact, perhaps dying is the best way to make him pay.

Just as in Christianity there is heaven and hell, here in Japan there is Takamagahara and Jigoku. Although they are called differently, when translated into different languages they mean almost the same thing. Although I personally don't like anything to do with gods, I have to admit that the Jigoku is the perfect place to punish people who have committed sins during their lives.

Takamagahara is the heavenly realm where the Kami (gods) reside and is also the dwelling place of the spirits of humans who have died honourably or who have performed great deeds in life. Unlike Christianity, in Japan the souls of pure or virtuous humans can ascend to a Kami state or can directly enter the cycle of reincarnation.

In contrast, the Jigoku is the hell to which the souls of sinners go. Although it is described as a single realm, the reality is that the Jigoku is divided into eight different types of hells, which are known as the "Eight Great Hells". These are divided into many smaller planes and half-planes, and each has a different type of punishment and duration, tailored to the sins of its inhabitants.

That's why in this world it doesn't make much sense to make bastards like Oga suffer; after all, the moment they die, a hell millions of times worse than the one they put other humans through awaits them. Oga's actions are enough to send him to the fifth hell.

It is known as "Daikyōkan Jigoku (The Hell of Deafening Screams)", and is the hell to which murderers, thieves, rapists, drug addicts, drunks and liars go. The suffering inflicted in that hell is ten times worse than in the previous hell. I do not know what methods are used to torture sinners, but I understand that they die billions of times in different ways. Also, time passes differently in each of the eight hells, so souls can be tortured billions or trillions of years (1 trillion is 1,000,000,000,000 years).

Kenichi: (Well, it doesn't make much sense to think about that. If, after all this, Oga repents or shows remorse, I wouldn't mind if he spent the rest of his remaining days in prison; that would be the only moment of peace he would have before entering the Daikyōkan Jigoku).

But if he doesn't repent and continues to have hostility and vengeful thoughts, I'm going to have to deal with him somehow. Humans who die with a lot of malice have a high chance of returning as ghosts or vengeful spectres after they finish being punished in the Jigoku.

After exiting the vault and making sure everyone was still unconscious, I activated my new ability.

Kenichi: "Inōryoku: Kanzen Hanzai (Ability: The Perfect Crime)"

完全犯罪

The moment I uttered those words, an aura of purple began to emanate through my body violently and, at the same time, a large number of creatures of the same colour began to take shape. If I had to give a graphic example, I would say that they looked rather like the spirits that appeared in the old animations.

When they had finished manifesting, a large number of them detached themselves from the aura around me and began to disperse at high speed throughout the house. Some went straight into the security cameras, others began to wipe the footprints I left all over the rooms, and the last ones began to gather on the bodies of the people I had knocked unconscious.

Although it seemed like a long process, the truth is that it was very fast; in less than a minute, all the manifestations returned and began to merge with the aura that my body was giving off, finishing their job of altering any evidence of my presence in this place.

With nothing more to do, I left quietly. I had to be somewhat careful not to be seen leaving the house by a third party, but, as it turned out, it was an unnecessary worry.

I was now walking towards my next objective: the base of the Shuuei Clan.

In the Sainan City of this world there are a lot of important families with great influence in the field of politics. I'm sure most of those families would help me if I showed them all the evidence I found, but if I want this whole matter to be resolved quickly, then the most reliable are the Shuuei Clan and the police.

The locals don't know this, but despite the hostile stance that these two organisations maintain, the reality is that they have several cooperation agreements for situations like this. The Shuuei Clan is mainly in charge of destroying criminals, and the police are in charge of covering up any kind of legal problem.

That is why, despite all the ridiculous laws that have been passed in recent years, Sainan has managed to remain one of the most peaceful cities in Japan. The only reason why Oga and Councilman Gonta were able to do illegal business was thanks to the intervention of supernatural beings.

Kenichi: (In other words, this is partly my fault).

It turns out that the Saruyama family is also part of that deal with the Shuuei Clan and the police. While both organisations deal with any problems with crime, the Saruyama family is in charge of solving any problems related to the supernatural world.

Although it is true that my grandparents live quite far away, the Saruyama family is a native of Sainan. For generations, this city has been under our protection. So, having been dormant for years, it is partly my fault that Diodora has been able to hypnotise everyone.

I kept walking until finally, after several minutes, I reached my destination.

Kenichi: (So this is Raku's house. Although it looked quite beautiful in the anime, seeing it in reality is something completely different).

What stood in front of me was a vivid artistic representation of a traditional Chinese-style building. It had a huge entrance with orange double doors with elaborate decorations, beautiful red and white lanterns hanging on each side of the entrance. It also had statues of Chinese guardian lions (known as Fu lions) on each side of the walkway leading to the entrance.

It was beautiful traditional architecture with curved roofs and ornate detailing on the main building and surrounding walls. In addition, it had a landscaped setting with several trees overhanging in different areas.

Its design was so beautiful and imposing that I couldn't help but gaze at it in awe.

Kenichi: (You can say what you want about the Yakuza, but you have to admit that they have good taste in these things.)

I approached the entrance and rang the bell next to the door.

*Ding-Dong♪*

Kenichi: "..."

After the doorbell rang, I waited for a few minutes until someone opened the door from the inside.

On the other side of the door, I could see a man of average height with black hair that ended in spikes and a scar on his left eye. His eyes were black; he also wore a black moustache parted in the middle. His main attire was a lilac hakama with a black ribbon wrapped around his waist. He also had a tattoo of an oriental dragon on his right shoulder.

This middle-aged man is called Yamaguchi Ryuu; he is the second-in-command of the Shuuei Clan and is also a supporting character in Nisekoi who occasionally appeared in humorous situations. You could say he's a typical character who has no relevance to the story; in the anime, you didn't even know his full name, he was just called Ryuu.

Kenichi: (Several years ago I had the opportunity to meet him, from what I understand, he is one of my father's friends from the time when he was a high school student).

I was about to speak, but for some reason, Ryuu just stared at me with an expression full of disbelief that left me confused.

Ryuu: "(⊙_⊙)"

He didn't say a single word, he just stared at me with bulging eyes full of surprise; at this point, he already looked like a character from One Piece.

Ryuu: "EEEEEEEEEEKH!!! A-A GHOST!!! IT'S GEN'S GHOST!!!"

Kenichi: (Ah... That's right, I look quite a bit like my dad when he was young).

I'm so used to my new appearance that I had completely forgotten about it. The only thing that makes me different from my father is that I'm more muscular, I look younger, and I have several strands of red mixed into my hair; other than that, I'm the spitting image of him.

After shouting that, Ryuu fell backwards to the ground in horror, as cold sweat poured down his face in a rather exaggerated manner.

Ryuu: "I-It can't be! Y-You came back to curse me!"

Kenichi: "No... I'm not my father... We met some time ago, remember?... I'm Kenichi, the son of Saruyama Gen..."

Ryuu: "H-Huh?!"

At first, he looked at me with a puzzled expression, as if he didn't understand what I was saying, but gradually he calmed down; apparently he was processing my words.

Kenichi: (When you look at him making those funny expressions, anyone could forget that he's a Yakuza. All the other members of the Shuuei Clan also behave like that.)

But he was not to be underestimated either. Although he had a funny personality, I could tell he was quite strong.

Ryuu: "Th-The son of Gen! Wait! That means you're little Kenichi!"

Kenichi: "Yes, it's me. It's been a long time, Ryuu-san."

Ryuu: "T-This is unbelievable... For a moment, I really thought you were a ghost. Look how much you've grown, boy; you're the spitting image of your father when he was young."

The moment he recognised me, all the fear and disbelief in his expression was quickly replaced by a stupid, carefree grin.

Kenichi: "As much as I would like to talk to you, I'm in a bit of a hurry right now."

The tone of my voice became more serious when I said that, and the atmosphere around me became more oppressive.

Kenichi: "At this moment, I am present here as the representative of the Saruyama family. I have a matter of great importance to discuss with the current leader of the Shuuei Clan, Ichijou Issei."

Noticing the change in my demeanor, Ryuu's expression instantly turned serious.

Ryuu: "Alright, I'm going to inform the boss about your visit. Wait here for a moment, please."

After saying that, Ryuu came in showing a rather professional demeanor that contrasted with his initial demeanor. He didn't ask any questions, nor did he question my behaviour or my speaking; that was a clear demonstration that, outside of what was shown on the anime screen, this clan takes its responsibility very seriously.

Thanks to my enhanced hearing, I could easily hear Ryuu giving clear and precise orders to all the members of the Shuuei clan before entering a room.

*5 minutes later*

I thought it was going to take him longer, but apparently he took what I said about being in a hurry seriously.

Ryuu: "The boss said you can go in. Go ahead and follow me; I'll lead you to the meeting room."

I started walking behind Ryuu as he guided me.

As on the outside, Raku's house was a true work of art that perfectly represented the traditional Japanese style, characterised by simplicity and connection with nature. A focus on harmony and tranquillity, it had beautiful interior gardens with large trees, as well as several water fountains.

As I looked around the garden in admiration, I noticed that all the Yakuza we met along the way were bowing their heads in respect. Although that confused me a little, I decided not to make a big deal out of it.

Kenichi: "By the way, Raku is in the house."

Ryuu: "No, Bocchan went out to hang out with one of his friends. Do you want us to let him know you were here when he gets back? I remember the two of you were good friends when you were little."

Kenichi: "No... It's better if he doesn't know I was here. I'm going to talk about a rather sensitive subject; it's better if Raku doesn't get involved. Besides, we can talk any other time; we're classmates now."

Ryuu: "Huh? Really? You're Bocchan's classmates?"

Kenichi: "Yeah, we're friends at school... Although, apparently, he doesn't remember that we used to play together when we were little. Don't tell him about that either; I want to play a joke on him when he finds out."

Ryuu: "Hahahaha~ Don't worry, if it's the request of one of Bocchan's friends, I won't say anything about it~ Even in that you're similar to Gen; he used to play that kind of prank on me too."

I have to admit that it feels good to talk to someone who knew my parents. I'd like to ask him some questions about them, but for the moment I'd better concentrate on this matter.

Ryuu: "We're here, the boss is waiting for you inside this room."

After thanking him, he left while bowing his head. I was about to ask for permission to enter, but before I did...

Ichijou: "You may enter."

From the other side of the door, I could hear an old man's voice. As he gave me permission, I opened the door without any concern.

When I entered, I was a little surprised to see that the room was somewhat dark and the only thing that illuminated the room were some candle lights that were near the walls. On the back wall were the portraits of some imposing red oni; it only took me a glance to see that they were quite expensive paintings.

But the details of the room didn't matter at the moment; my attention was fully directed to the old man who was looking at me with an amused and carefree smile, as he sat behind his desk.

The one sitting in front of me was none other than Ichijou Issei, Raku's father and also the current leader of the Shuuei Clan. Visually, he is an old man of average height; his hair is long and grey in colour, as are his eyebrows, and he also has several wrinkles around his face, as well as dark-coloured eyes.

Kenichi: (This old man... Is he trying to look mysterious with all the lights off?)

Ichijou: "Hahaha~ Ryuu told me that you look a lot like your father. At first I thought he was joking, but seeing you like this I can't help but agree with him. He also told me that you had an important matter to talk to me about, kid, but first let me introduce myself: I'm the current boss of the Shuuei clan. My name is Ichijou Issei. I don't know if you remember, but we met several years ago."

Unlike the room, which had a dark and intimidating appearance, Raku's father behaved in a relaxed and calm manner. In the anime he also had such a personality, but I could tell instantly that this old man was not normal. It wasn't that he was particularly strong; it's hard to explain, but I could tell that he had a mental strength far superior to any other human I've seen so far.

What surprised me most was the intensity of his aura; it was a mixture of different coloured auras that were in perfect synchrony. None overlapped with the other, but in the background of all those auras was hidden a black aura that was several times more intense than the one Oga had.

Kenichi: "It's been a while, Ichijou-san. Thank you for the help you gave me back then. As you may already know, my name is Saruyama Kenichi."

Ichijou: "Hahaha~ So you remember me. You don't need to be so formal; you can just call me Issei. Nothing pleases me more than seeing that troublesome brat's son grow up so splendidly."

I could tell that, the moment he said that, his expression turned briefly nostalgic. I guess he must have some history with my father. As we talked, Mr. Issei bombarded me with different kinds of questions.

Ichijou: "I see~ Then Raku completely forgot about you. Hahaha~ That boy is hopeless, though I can't blame him much either; that was 9 years ago. Time really does fly by."

Kenichi: "It's true~ It's been 9 years already, but since I didn't forget about him, I'm going to play a little joke on him when he realises~"

Ichijou: "I like that young people nowadays can get along so well. I hope you'll continue to be a good friend to Raku. Because of my position as the head of a Yakuza clan, almost all the boys his age have stayed away from him out of fear, though his situation has improved quite a bit lately."

In the Nisekoi anime, Raku's father was a supporting character, like Ryuu, appearing only in some situations. For people who read the manga or watched the anime, Mr. Issei was the typical stereotype of a bad father who commits his son to a stranger without his consent; it was a concept that was seen quite often in manga and anime.

That's why it's rare to see him show concern for Raku; in the anime he was never seen to behave this way.

Kenichi: "Don't worry, Raku is my friend. I'll always be there to support him... After all, it's quite fun to tease him; he always gets as nervous as a scared squirrel."

Ichijou: "So you play pranks on him too~ To this day I still do it too, it's really funny, he looks a lot like his mother."

We were laughing and talking about Raku and other things for a while, until suddenly Issei-san put on a rather serious expression and the calm and serene atmosphere he had until a few minutes ago changed instantly.

Kenichi: "..."

At his attempt to intimidate me, my only response was to remain silent, looking at him indifferently. It's possible that a few weeks ago he might have been able to intimidate me, but in my current state it's impossible for this small level of intimidation to work.

Ichijou: "Hoo... It's just as I expected, you don't feel the least bit intimidated. Kids these days are so pathetic that it only takes a little intimidation like this to make them shudder pathetically, but I guess that's what you'd expect from Gen's son. After all, you presented yourself as the head of the Saruyama family; it would be truly humiliating for them if this simple intimidation were to cow you."

As he said that, Mr. Issei lit the pipe on his desk and began to smoke.

Ichijou: "In the past, turf wars with other organisations were quite common around here. I had my fair share of fights in my teens, so I can tell just by looking at you that you've become extremely strong. Also, you introduced yourself as the head of the Saruyama family, so the matter you want to talk to me about must have something to do with the supernatural world."

Kenichi: "Yes... But before that, I want to ask you something."

Ichijou: "Go ahead."

Kenichi: "I just caught up with my family's affairs recently, so I still don't know a lot of things. I understand that my family has some agreements with various organisations, such as yours and the police, but I don't know how familiar they are with the supernatural side of the world."

This is one of the biggest doubts I have at the moment. Although the existence of supernatural beings has been kept a secret from humanity, it is not especially difficult for humans to know about them.

Ichijou: "Hmm... In the past, when we were at war, some Youkai were seen roaming around these parts, but since the Saruyama family always takes care of those with evil intentions, our knowledge is rather limited. I understand there are some living in certain areas of the city, but Gen assured us that they are harmless."

Kenichi: (I see, so they don't know much; that explains why they don't have any means to defend themselves against low-level magic like hypnotism).

Kenichi: "The reason I'm here is to talk about a certain family that made use of the abilities of a supernatural being in order to arrange various illegal businesses and many other crimes within the city without being discovered."

Ichijou: "!"

I started telling him everything that had happened, about how I coincidentally met Oga in the morning, how I infiltrated his house after checking the contents of his mobile phone and also gave him a copy with all the data and information I was able to get from Councillor Gonta's house.

Ichijou: "..."

The calm and friendly old man from the original story was nowhere to be found anymore; the fury in his expression was so intimidating that it would make anyone else flinch. I'm sure even Raku would be scared to see the expression on his father's face right now.

Ichijou: "RYUU!!! COME HERE RIGHT NOW!!!"

Ryuu: "Yes! What can I get you, boss?"

When Ryuu walked in, he had his usual humorous anime smile, but the moment he saw Issei-san's expression, he immediately stood up straight and his expression became serious.

Ichijou: "I know everyone has been focused on the possible war we're going to have with the Bee Hive group, but I want you to put all that aside for the moment... It seems like we've been inactive for so long that some brats forgot who it is that rules this city from the shadows."

Ryuu: "YES, BOSS!"

Though he was still shocked, Ryuu responded without hesitation to his boss's orders.

Ichijou: "I want you to investigate everything about Councilman Masaru from this data. I want to know everything: connections, movements, associates. I want to know absolutely everything. If what you find matches this data, I want you to catch everyone on this list, regardless of their social position, and I also want you to eliminate them in the most painful way possible".

Ryuu: "YES!!! EVERYTHING WILL BE DONE AS YOU ORDER, BOSS!!!"

Now I'm really surprised. This is a scene that would never have been seen in the original Nisekoi story. Raku's father just ordered his men to kill, and they didn't hesitate one bit to follow his orders.

Kenichi: "I'm sorry... This is all in large part my fault."

Because I didn't act sooner, an entire city was hypnotised and a lot of innocent people died because I didn't do the family's job. Also, when I think that all this was caused by the plot change ticket I used, I can't help but feel even more responsible for what happened.

Ichijou: "Don't worry, your parents died when you were little, and from what you told me, it seems you didn't receive any training from your grandparents either. It just goes to show how much we depended on Gen... To think that some snot-nosed brats would see my stupid face right under my nose, I've really gotten old."

I could clearly sense the frustration Issei-san was feeling.

Kenichi: "Thank you... By the way, I also wanted to discuss this matter with Commissioner Tachibana. After all, his daughter was also included in the target list of these idiots."

Ichijou: "Hmm... So you also want the police's help. That's not a bad idea, even though Tachibana and I aren't on good terms. He will never forgive this kind of attitude in this city, especially if his daughter is involved. Besides, Councillor Masaru's position is somewhat complicated, so his help will be quite useful for legal matters. All right, I'll call him and tell him you're going to visit him. Make sure you bring him all the evidence you obtained."

Kenichi: "Yes, thank you very much for your help... By the way, I'd like to ask you a favour."

*Ichijou Issei POV*

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised...

In front of me was a boy who looked exactly like Gen. That troublesome brat who was always getting into fights and liked to play pranks on people.

According to what Ryuu said, he was Kenichi, Gen and Kanae's son. He's the same kid who used to play with Raku when they were little; I remember he was a very fun and energetic kid.

But now, just look at him...

He grew up in a splendid way. Not only was he incredibly strong, he also has quite a mature attitude and way of thinking.

With the ease with which he infiltrated Councilman Masaru's house, it should be easy for him to take care of anyone in the house, but I could tell from his expression that he was still hesitant about taking lives. But you can't blame him; he's still just a teenager who isn't aware of how cruel this world can be.

Also, give him credit: he knew that, with his position and meagre resources, he would not be able to do much against them, apart from physically hurting them. So he sought help from us adults. That's commendable; young people of that age tend to think they can solve most things on their own and end up being quite reckless.

I still remember what happened years ago.

The news of the death of Gen and his wife Kanae was really devastating; they were both quite loved in the city. Although it was publicly stated that they both died in a traffic accident, further investigation revealed that their injuries were not caused by the accident.

It doesn't take a genius to surmise that it must have been an attack by supernatural beings.

This town has always been protected by the Saruyama family, so it is really rare to see supernatural beings. Even I, with my advanced age, have only had a few chances to see one. I understand that there are several of them living in the city as ordinary humans.

Since there have never been any problems related to them so far, I didn't think much of it, but it is really disturbing to know that they can use magic to hypnotise thousands of people without them noticing.

The funeral of Gen and his wife was very sad. In the end, that child did not shed a single tear, but no one dared to comment on anything like how he did not love his parents. His eyes were completely empty of any kind of emotion. Everyone knew him and knew that he adored his parents; that's why seeing him so expressionless was so shocking. It was as if a part of him had been broken during that accident.

That's why I'm quite relieved to see him. He seems to have finally gotten over the death of his parents and is trying to improve as a person. I guess this is my time to show him what an adult can do; this will be one of my last acts as chief before I retire.

But still, life can be funny. I remember back then, apart from Raku, I also used to play a lot with those four girls. I wonder if he remembers them too.

Hehehehe... It was worth living for so long. Those girls will be back soon; it's going to be interesting to see how he and Raku deal with them.

Kenichi: "Yes, thank you very much for your help... By the way, I'd like to ask you a favour."

Ichijou: "A favour?"

While I was reminiscing about the old days, the boy's unexpected request took me by surprise.

Kenichi: "Yes... When I infiltrated the councilman's house, I was somewhat violent towards his son. If he doesn't get medical attention in the next few hours, he may die."

I guess he must have beaten him up pretty bad; I don't blame him. If some idiot had come up to me and threatened me, I would have done the same thing.

Ichijou: "I see, so you want us to get him medical attention."

Kenichi: "Yes, but that's not the favour I want to ask."

Ichijou: "Eh?"

While I was confused by his words, I couldn't help but shudder as I saw how his eyes, which were previously dark brown, slowly began to turn a deep red colour. Also, the air around him began to distort.

Kenichi: "I don't care what they do with the councillor, but after Oga's medical care is done... I don't want anyone to go near his hospital room. I still have some business to settle with him."

Ichijou: "Yes, don't worry... We're going to see to it that no one enters that room. We're also going to take care of any other problems."

Kenichi: "Thank you."

After saying those last words, I could only watch as he walked away with firm, confident steps.

Kenichi: (It's not just his looks, it seems he also inherited Gen's temperament. I don't even want to imagine the hell he's going to put that shitty brat through).
