I set up my perch a couple of kilos from the building I found out they were supposed to rendezvous at this location from the phone I picked up. It was a no go on attacking this place from long distance as visibility was blocked from the top. No windows, warehouse with closed shutters on the entrances. They were smart, which I should've suspected but the conversation I just had with CniDaria was clouding my mind a little bit. I shook it off. I had a mission to complete. I broke down my weapon and prepared for some more… intimate combat than I was used to. Taking a backpack with me as I descended the roof.
CniDaria was always better at this kind of thing but I still trained in close combat because after all, I had chosen to become an assassin. Being ignorant in that subject seemed foolish and I've never been one to be foolish. I made my approach from an alley adjacent to the building. Not a soul was around the building and it was eerily quiet. I activated my bracelet and my body started to vibrate violently. A sensation I was now very familiar with at this point. I painlessly walked through the wall and entered where what looked like a garage where various vehicles were parked. I clicked my bracelet again and my body calmed itself. I now could hear movement and voices from various directions. I quickly situated myself behind a bigger truck and studied my surroundings. There were men in black track suits at the entrance to what looked like a surveillance room, leisurely discussing sports. I decided to move fast and eliminate any threats as soon as possible. The first two men had their throats slit before they could even turn around. I entered the room and saw cameras detailing the whole building where I could see various men putting together ammunition and looking over maps. They looked to have a small squadron preparing for battle in the streets of Tokyo. Was this all for just us? I studied the monitors until I saw an injured man addressing a group in a debriefing room. That had to be my guy. I had no intention of being sneaky or limiting casualties. I'll obliterate this entire building to quench my thirst for revenge.
I memorized every soldiers position in the warehouse and I reached into my bag. I rolled into the hall and shot the next three guards that was just hanging out with my silenced pistol. My recon told me there was another guard coming from the far end. I started toward that direction but I was little surprised when I felt a chop to my back leg. Luckily for me he wasn't nearly as skilled as my sister. I kicked out and made contact with his head and while he struggled to regain himself he got his neck snapped for his trouble. I'm starting to sense that something was off. The soldier I was waiting for at the far end started running around the corner after he heard all the commotion. I purposefully waited for him to have full view of me to see how he would react. He raised up his gun as he ran towards me. I made no movement of my own weapon but he still hesitated to pull his trigger. I no longer had any interest in waiting for his move and I shoot him dead in his temple. It wasn't the guards that were troubling. Getting hit from behind wasn't the thing that was bothering me either. What was nerving was that the guy could have and probably should have killed me but he tried to subdue me. That meant they knew that I was coming, and they needed something from me. Something I couldn't give them while I was dead. So, I had to change tactics a bit.
I approached the room I saw my target in previously when I studying the layout in the surveillance room. Every corridor I turned into I made sure they were dead by my pistol before they got a good look at me. At this point my shoes were painted red with blood. Less and less people hindered my path. At this point they were trying to draw me into the room. I had other ideas. I got down on one knee and aimed my gun from across the hall, shot open the doors and threw in a smoke grenade. I pulled out a mask from out of my bag and saw three run out the door coughing, covering up there mouths and noses. I killed them quickly. I then ran in and found the man I was looking for. I punched and kicked him until his face was unrecognizable, put him in a headlock and suffocated him until he stopped struggling. He tried to kill my sister. He deserved worse. The smoke had finally dissipated and there was a man standing at the head of the room with his hands up. He turned around with a wide smile. He looked like Lucius but more likeable. Where Lucius looked slimy this man looked refined and trusting, But still…
"Tell me why I shouldn't kill you right here right now." I pointed my gun straight at his temple.
"Because I'm only the beginning Thylonius…" I looked at him and motioned my gun for him to keep speaking. "You're a smart boy. You know that even with eliminating my organization and you pretty much have." He took a look around the room and saw all the dead bodies and saw that no one was coming to his rescue. "There will be another group just like mine with a figure head just like me to take you and your sister out."
"Who sent you?"
He just kept smiling. "You know who sent me. You think you could take down some of the two biggest bullies in the yard and no one would come after you? You had to know eventually that another one of those bullies would come calling, taking out a threat before it's next. The governments of the world can't let some individual rogue entity take them out. Plus, your old friend Lucius had his contingencies."
"Contingencies? What do they know about us?"
"Nothing." I gave him a bullshit look. "I swear, they just know someone is standing up to them and bullies don't like to be stood up to, so they usually send one of their subordinates. People that have plausible deniability. That can't be traced back to them." He actually pointed at himself when he said that. "To stop them and I know now to die for them."
"Well, you should have known what you were getting yourself into. You still haven't told me what contingencies." He was moving little by little towards a monitor to his right that was still open with text down the screen.
"You know safe houses or places you kids would most likely stay whenever you came to Tokyo or various other places. Only things that he shared with you guys just in case something happened to him." He gave me a knowing and sinister smile, but I didn't react to it. He confirmed to me that Lucius didn't leave any contingencies regarding us. Safe house locations were never shared with us privately. If we ever needed something like that. He would just leave us for dead while he hid himself from danger. I continued to play along. "But which bully?"
"Why Thylonius? Why does it matter which bully? So you could take them down? Whatever you're doing with your sister, it will not end well. You need protection. You need help, I can provide that."
"What about who hired you?"
"Obviously I was being employed by the losing side. I like to win Thylonius."
I considered him for a moment "What is your name?"
"You can call me Linus. I can help you the way that Lucius helped you. He told me all about you and your sister while he was working for us. I've known about you since your parents…"
What my parents had to do with his proposal I'll never know because I shot a bullet into his brain. I learned all I needed to know from him. I walked over to the monitor and read what was on it. It seemed like substantial information on previous missions we performed while still working under Lucius. Missions even back from when we first started under him. This type of information could eventually be dangerous. I took out an encryption and storage tool out of my bag and hooked it up to the monitor to see all the information on this computer to sort through later. I can likely figure out their plan for us through this hopefully. I never wanted help from someone like Lucius or Linus ever again. I had my sister. She was all the help I needed and we were going to need each other more than ever. Especially now since it seemed that the very governments we had been hunting for so long were finally starting to take us seriously and hunt us.
