Chapter 336 - Chapter 14: Hairless Monkeys That Can Talk

The "special individual among the Flugel" was the first layer of identity Origami Tobiichi fabricated so that she could move freely among the Flugel.

Beneath this identity, she also had another hidden role: the embodiment of the Spirit will.

At the same time, the system had implanted the Origin Spirit, Mio Takamiya, into this world's Spirit Corridor in the form of a divine core. Her mission was to gather followers and awaken Mio through their faith in order to accelerate the conclusion of the War of the Gods.

With that in mind, setting Mio Takamiya as the creator God of the Spirit wasn't wrong at all.

As for why she was referred to as the "First Spirit," the reason was simple—all Spirit were born from the Spirit Corridor, and if the Spirit were all created by Mio Takamiya, then logically, she was the first of the Spirit.

Furthermore, since the Spirit existed within every living being—especially as the foundation of life for intermediate and high-ranking species—calling Mio Takamiya the "Primordial God" and the "Mother of All Things" made perfect sense, and even added a sense of grandeur.

Technically speaking, the first Spirit of this world should have been Holou, the God of Doubt, who is also the main god of Ex-Machina. But because she couldn't resolve her own internal paradoxes, she fell into despair and pierced her own divine core, falling into eternal slumber.

So even if Origami snatched away the title of "First Spirit," Holou wouldn't be around to object.

As expected, when Origami presented her fabricated background, Jibril touched her chin and sank into deep thought.

"Mio Takamiya... the Creator God of the Spirit..."

Her eyes sparkled with analytical light, clearly evaluating its plausibility.

After a moment of silence, she asked,

"How do you know such a Spirit ever existed?"

"I've spent many years exploring the world—I wasn't just sightseeing," Origami replied flatly.

"Ah, I see. So this is the secret mission the God of War entrusted to you,"

The moment she mentioned the name of the God of War, Jibril doubts instantly vanished.

This was the advantage of having met the God of War.

From now on, no matter what Origami said, as long as she added "the God of War said so," no Flugel would question her.

Even if Artosh hadn't said a single word.

Origami didn't have to worry about being exposed, because as long as she fulfilled her promise to create a worthy opponent for Artosh—a goal he could never achieve on his own—the God of War would tolerate all her deceptions.

"But how do you plan to awaken a Spirit that has already fallen asleep?"

"To activate a divine core, the key is faith. All I need to do is get people to believe in Mio Takamiya again. Then she'll reappear."

"You're planning to spread faith among the Flugel?" Jibril raised her eyebrow. "Then let me give you a word of advice. No Flugel would ever betray the God of War. Even if they won't beat you up for trying, they definitely won't abandon their creator."

"No. I don't intend to spread faith among the Flugel." Origami shook her head lightly.

"The Flugel are too powerful, and with the God of War still alive, they're unsuitable targets for proselytizing."

"So, you're planning to look for a race that is both weak and whose god has already died?" Jibril nodded.

"That's actually a pretty good idea. You could go for the Werebeasts or the Seafolk. Their deities have long since perished, and they're as weak as ants. You just need to beat them into submission and you can spread the faith."

"They're indeed among my targets," Origami explained, "But not the ideal ones.

Even if their gods are dead, that doesn't mean their loyalty to them has vanished. Forcing them to convert will only lead to resistance."

"Then which race are you planning to spread your faith in?" Jibril asked curiously.

"Among the 15 races, all the intermediate and lower races are god-created. Even among the high-ranking ones, like the Dragonia or Phantasm-kind, who weren't created by gods, they're all prideful and wouldn't easily submit to others."

"The Imanity," Origami replied calmly. "Have you heard of that race?"

"Imanity?"

Jibril blinked, quickly searching her memory for information about this race.

The Flugel had perfect memory—their memories never faded over time.

Yet in her entire life, not once had she heard of a race called Imanity.

In this world, the character "人 (ren/human)" referred to any sentient being that resembled the Spirit in form but was not actually a Spirit.

Werebeast were "human." The Sea inhabitants were "human." Even the Flugel could be considered "human."

But the specific term "Imanity" was something Jibril had never heard of.

And in fact, that made perfect sense.

In the original story, the term "Imanity" was coined by the protagonist Riku after the god of games Tet obtained the Suniaster and officially named their race.

At this point in the timeline, the rest of the world still saw Imanity as little more than animals.

"Is this a newly born race or something?"

"Actually, Imanity is the oldest race in the world," Origami explained.

"They just can't wield magic or manipulate the power of the Spirit. In your eyes, they'd probably be seen as hairless monkeys that can talk."

"Ah! So you're talking about those animals!"

The moment Jibril heard "hairless monkeys that can talk," she immediately realized which beings Origami meant by "Imanity."

"Now that you mention it, they really are the best candidates for spreading faith."

"I plan to go look for them," Origami said.

"Do you know their general area of activity?"

"Well... think about it this way—do you usually pay attention to where monkeys hang out?" Jibril said with a helpless shrug.

"We Flugel usually only hunt high-level species. Those hairless monkeys aren't even low-ranked—they're below low-tier. Why would I ever remember where they live?"

"Then can you help me look for them using a detection spell?"

"If you want me to help, I'd be happy to. But detection spells won't work," Jibril replied.

"Flugel detection spells work by sensing energy waves and the density of Spirit energy.

But those hairless monkeys you mentioned? Even if you add up all the Spirit energy in their bodies, it wouldn't even equal a single mouthful of my spit.

There's no way to detect them."

"In that case, never mind. You should stay here in Avant Heim. I'll go to Lucia Continent and look for them myself."

After thinking it over for a moment, Origami finally decided.

"If the Eighteen-Wing Council is ever convened, let me know."
