Laura clung tightly to the base of the crane arm, waiting alongside Nathan for the miracle to happen, when suddenly a tentacle slid into the sea from the deck.
She knew that Chen Ke's actions below had taken effect, so she struggled to stand up and rushed to the stern to look into the sea.
All she saw was the black ocean roaring with waves, the ship stuck in place as if belted down, at the mercy of the crashing waves. Suddenly, a muffled sound came from beneath the sea's surface, and Laura saw a flash of blue light surge from the depths.
Next, the storm abruptly stopped, and the vast sea slowly returned to calm, with all the tentacles on the deck also slipping into the water.
"Did he make it?" Nathan asked.
"He did, he made it," said Laura, while running back and forth around the railing, hoping to see Chen Ke surface.
