Early in the morning, at a riverside suburb.
This was the spot where Sun Yixie had arranged to go fishing with Da Di.
The river was ordinary, not very deep, but deep enough to drown a man.
The riverside was a mix of sand, stones, and mud, slightly sloped, and not far from a grove of trees.
Although Sun Yixie had made it clear that he wanted to go fishing and chat alone with Da Di, Da Di wasn't someone to take at his word...
Feeling uneasy, Da Di had brought a dozen or so of his men over before dawn and had them ambush in the woods—afraid others would bring more men than he had.
Unexpectedly, soon after sunrise, Sun Yixie really did show up alone.
Seeing this, Da Di started to wonder, "I couldn't tell you were such a hero, kid. You really dared to come alone? In this desolate place, aren't you afraid I'd have my guys take you out and bury you right here?"
Of course, that was just a thought, as he wouldn't actually do that.
