*Continuation*
"Oh-o, I too, my shade is also strong. So strong that it stops the whole world!!" A dark brown haired girl said excitedly as she went near a group of girls. They were talking to some other boys over the desk in the classroom, but as she reached them their faces became disgusted.
"Just ignore her, she's just a weirdo, seeking attention." One of the girls said to her group.
A boy from that group suggested leaving after hearing that and so they all stood up and left. While that brown haired girl was left there alone, looking down in alienation.
That girl was no one else but me, Alvish. And I remember that and every other day like that as clearly as if they had just happened yesterday. When no one had believed in me, for my powers…
My mother always used to tell me that I would awaken the eyes of Salowon someday, just like her. And I knew that they would allow me to slow things down. But that day when I awakened them, even though it was accidental, I had seen the whole world around me stop in time. And since nobody said or proved to have noticed it, even the records provided by the government, I assumed it to be a universal phenomenon.
I was very stunned that day to know that my powers were so strong that they were affecting the whole world, to the point that it was freezing time. But what was more surprising was that there was still someone who was fast enough that his moments were looking normal even at that time. Also his coolness didn't just stop there as he just vanished at light speed after that. But between that time, I remember he had turned and looked at me, into me, and had said something while I, too, was affected by my shade and had stopped in time.
That day… I Had Realised.
That we were two prodigies in the world, looking at each other!
Usually a person's potential in using their shade is scaled by the range of area that they can use their shade effectively in. Even the lowest level lords are normally at a small town level and The Fourteen Lords are on planetary levels while the normal citizens are at a house level. Therefore that day, I should have only been able to slow down a falling pencil or something like that. Though instead I had somehow affected the whole world into falling to a state where even time seemed to have faded away. Which was a universal level action.
Yet, nobody ever believed in me. Each time I told them about it, either they made fun of me or tried to sympathise with me, although deep down they too believed that I was lying. And now even she is not believing me, my only hope. But unlike others she has shown me the reasons. And I'm also clearly able to understand them.
This time stopping thing really shouldn't be happening. It just doesn't make any sense. Because, like she said:
If my shade does really freeze the whole world in a frame of time then how was I able to see, since the photons would have stopped at their point of space too. Although, I had said that my senses go numb in this state, it's not because I can't feel anything but because I'm continuously feeling the same thing. So, it clearly proves that it doesn't completely stop the universe. And if it doesn't stop but accelerates down the whole world to a certain rate then we don't know the boundaries of it, so I can't exactly say or prove that it slows down the universe to the same rate everywhere. And if it only affects a certain range of area then people from outside of that area or the government would have definitely noticed it because of the time dilation, and I would have heard about it later. But it also does happen even though of all these reasons since it occurs every time I activate my shade.
It's not making any sense! It's like… creating a paradox! Every second point she told me is proving it to not be happening, but this phenomenon itself is proving it's existence as it is happening right now.
At first, I wasn't able to express them though I had understood what she was saying. But now because of this endless eternity I'm finally able to process them into words. But now, if even these things are getting disproved then… at the end, what is it?
"Wake up!" Suddenly I heard a gravelly feminine voice in a serious tone as I felt a hand on my shoulder and I realised that I had come back to sense.
It was Ms Flame who was squatting down in front of me. And since my eye shades had been deactivated by then, I was able to see her. She then stood up while putting all her weight on my shoulder with her hand which was on it.
I, too, stood up along with her after that. And this time while standing face to face with her, I noticed that she was actually a bit taller than me. I also noticed that her right eye, which had turned into Netveldiya earlier, was looking normal now.
Hmmm I remember, she had only activated her that eye back then.
Does that mean she is also twin shaded??
I wonder what's her other shade then?
But before that, I have got something more important to ask.
"So, did you see it?" I asked her a little nervously.
"Yes!" She responded with a grumpy and disappointed voice. "And like I had thought you need to practise Linic."
"What? What even is it?" I asked as my eyes got squinted because I couldn't understand a thing she was talking about. "Also, don't you think you should be explaining first why that happens then, so that it can help me regarding learning to use my shade?"
"Before seeking power, you must have a powerful mindset!" She responded boldly to my question and this again shutted me up.
It was another one of her confusing replies that too came out of her mouth, making me feel like she knew very much more than me. But this time I did understand that she was talking about something related to my willpower. Wait, am I weak willed? Also, why is she bringing it up now??
"What do you mean by that?" I asked in confusion.
"Tell me, have you ever appointed a doctor, regarding your issue?" She completely ignored my question and asked.
"Huh? A- yes!" I replied, clueless of what's going on, "But they only ever said that it doesn't activate because they couldn't detect it."
"Figures, since good ones aren't easily available for civilians." She ponderingly said after hearing me, as she got her right hand up while it was supported by her other hand on its elbow and held her chin between her thumb and index finger. After thinking for a moment, she suddenly turned to her right and said while pointing at me, "This, you see this. This is the problem of this nation. If only they would teach them a little about shades then this won't happen. People won't die!"
"In my opinion, it's also the people's fault for not questioning, or their weakness that they can't question. The limit, they can't differ!" Said Reada whom she had said that to, who was there sitting on the chair. I also turned after hearing him and saw that he was eating the cup noodles she had left on the table before.
"DON'T EAT MY NOODLES!!" Ms Flame freaked out. "Do you even know how much they cost?"
"Just How Much Do They Cost Bitch, That You're Shouting?" He also said angrily as it hit his pride when he heard that.
"Around 20 calories and 15 minutes of my peace!" She replied and after hearing that he became silent.
He didn't have a reply to that. But why are they ignoring me again?
"Come on guys, don't ignore me. Solve my problem first!" I said as I couldn't stand being left out anymore.
"Oh yeah yeah, about that girl. Let me ask, if the evolution of Homo-sapiens to Homo-Celestians didn't change our appearance even a bit, then what did it give us?" She asked after she heard and turned to me again.
"Shades, obviously! That's why we are called Homo-Celestians." I answered.
"No! It's the ability to harness and use shades."
"Huh-? Same thing." I said in shock.
"No, they are not! Again! Let me explain." She continued, "Linic is like the RAM of a human brain. The number of things it can concentrate at, at a time. Close your eyes and try imagining a triangle. Can you?"
When she said about the RAM and stuff I didn't understand much of it and was again clueless because I was for the first time hearing something like that related to a human brain. But when she told me to imagine a triangle I immediately shutted my eyes to do that.
"Yes, I can!" I replied as I was able to.
"Now imagine a square."
"Yes, again!" I replied, a little joyously this time, as it was something that I was able to do and I was positive that now I could finally understand something.
"Now a pentagon."
"Yes." I replied again in the same way.
"Now a hexacontagon."
"Whatt-" I bursted out.
"A hexacontagon, a 2D shape with 60 sides."
"I know what a hexacontagon is, I'm good at geometry. But it almost looks like a circle, how can I be able to imagine that!"
"Oh really? How about a hexagon? Can you imagine that?"
"Yes!"
"I didn't hear you say it almost looks identical to a pentagon this time!" She suddenly complained.
"Why would I be saying that? It only had 6 sides so I am able to imagine that but a hexacontagon, it's 60, which's a lot so I can't!" I replied.
"Oh, you are aware of that?" Her tone suddenly changed and she sounded impressed. "This, you see this, this is what Linic is!"
I was stunned and shocked after hearing that.
"You see, there's a very interesting difference between the working of a Homo-shapian's and Homo-Celestian's brain. In the past, there was said to be a psychological disease that homo sapiens used to experience called dissociative identity disorder. In it, the human brain used to experience having two or more personalities, which individually from time to time used to take over the control of the body. But after the evolution there have been 0 cases reported on it. The reason is believed to be because our brains are more stable. We can increase the number of our Linic!"
"Whatt-?" I said as my mouth opened wide, in shock after hearing that.
"Yes, and shades actually work depending on our Linic. Listen carefully and try to understand." She continued, "Shades affect something when enough linic is concentrated on it. It's called linic pressure but we don't use that term much, instead we just call it Linic too. It means to concentrate your other points of Linic to a single point. It's the same as how the other things blur out when we try to concentrate on one thing with our vision. Still, even when all our linic is in use, there's a subconscious linic pressure that our mind applies when we need more linic and that's when the linic increases. It happens like the blooming of a flower. Like how at first the petals are united with each other in the flower bud, so closely that it's hard to tell how many petals are there just by looking, so they're considered as one in the form of that bud but when they bloom they spread out to be numerous. It happens like that, and when that happens our Linic exceeds with an increment of a random number. And like that you can increase your linic to whatever extent you want. Like a thousand."
"A thousand?! That's impossible. That's too much to be biologically working."
"There are kids running around on this planet that can literally burn a fire just by changing their eyes' colours and you think this is weird?"
"A… that's legitimate." Yes, even though it sounds weird it's not weirder than the shades we have.
"The human body is like a chariot while the horses that pull it are the senses and our conscious mind is the charioteer. If we'll set free and let the horses just run around wherever they want, then each one of them will run in a different direction and we'll end up getting nowhere. So, in order for us to get somewhere, the charioteer will have to hold the reins tightly and steer them in a way that will control those horses." She said, "There are two types of Linic. One that is always in our control, that we can count. The other one is called sub-linic. It is a Linic that we subconsciously apply and it mainly controls some of the actions in our body. Like: the beating of the human heart and blood flow. That's why we can never count the number of linic accurately, except for some exceptions. Whenever we try to count the linic of a conscious being we get results like 23.7579… or 978.321…. The numbers here after the decimal point represent the sub-linix, though most of the time they are ignored. Every living being has linic and sub-linic, or you can they describe consciousness. Only we can increase it while the non-living has none, zero."
I kept listening to her even though most of all, again started not making much sense to me. Even though I tried to understand each bit that I could.
"Everyone says a good player plays with rules and a great player plays by breaking those rules. But only a few know that that great player also only breaks those rules after understanding them completely. The word 'Lord' occurs from the word lawyer, an attorney. While a lawyer practises the laws and uses them occasionally to get what he wants done. A law'rd, spelled L-A-W-R-D, alters them to execute what he wants done, even when it's something against the laws of physics.
