Chapter 20: Dangerous Situation
However, right after saying these words, Arthur remembered how to open the door from his memories, and he knew the slave mark on his wrist had disappeared yesterday, and it was needed to open the door.
He is in quite a dilemma right now.
'What should I do?'
Liora has quite a blissful expression on her face due to how nicely Arthur is treating them. She felt quite special, and Zyra was not much different from her, as her lips also turned upward, forming a rare smile on her face.
Unaware of their reactions outside, Arthur is thinking about what he should do in this situation.
And after a few seconds of thought, he had decided to use the play of him losing his memories, and it may not be completely false, also because he had already noticed that he only remembered certain pieces of memory, but it was enough to know who he is.
So he decided to play dumb and said in a normal tone.
"I don't remember how to open the door."
He had already said to them that he had lost his memories, so he didn't want to act smart right now and tell them himself that he had awakened. He knows he wouldn't hide it from them, but acting oblivious seemed to be the best option for him right now.
Liora and Zyra heard his voice and felt pity for him, as a handsome man like Arthur, who doesn't know much about now, is very vulnerable now.
Their strong desire to protect him at all costs is instilled in their brains, as they can't let others take advantage of him.
They were about to tell him how easy it is to open the door, but suddenly they heard footsteps of people coming toward them.
Zyra said to Liora with alertness in her voice.
"It's two of them."
They kept looking toward the end of the hallway, and suddenly the figure of the warden with her long, flowing green hair and sharp eyes appeared at the end of the hallway, and behind her was another elf with light brown hair.
Zyra and Liora felt startled, as they had thought of repercussions before, but never had they ever imagined that the warden, who would rarely show up, was coming to meet them.
Liora is quite scared seeing the warden coming toward them, and Zyra is not much different, but she is hiding her expression.
As for her, standing up close to an enemy whom you can't defeat would be a death wish.
Zyra, seeing how nervous Liora is, tries to keep her calm.
"Don't worry, Liora. I don't think we are in trouble this time, as we have a solid reason to be here, so we should be alright."
Liora felt much calmer after hearing her words; however, it still didn't make them completely relaxed because of her history of giving crazy punishments to people if they were in the wrong.
Arthur had noticed their unexpected silence, which made him a little nervous.
'Did they suspect anything?'
Ivy Greenhearts looked at the two elves from yesterday because of how stupidly they had attacked her earlier, but she liked them for that reason, and they also helped her name her signature spell, which she had trouble naming for quite some time.
Everything aside, she is not going to go easy on them if what this elf had said to her is true. She dislikes this cowardly behavior of the light brown-haired elf, as she had sensed there were some personal feelings involved when she was making the report of two elves secretly trying to break into one of the male slave quarters.
This statement was not something she could let pass by, as the elven kingdom is quite strict when it comes to the rights of even slaves, especially when it comes to weak males, and if something were to happen here, her reputation would have taken quite a hit. More importantly, it would have given those clan members of hers a chance to bring her down even more.
Her reputation is already not the best.
It would have been very bad, which is why she didn't take any chances.
Now, seeing the two dumb elves standing in front of a slave door, she can already guess whose room it might be.
She reached in front of both of them, and she could see, unlike their meeting the previous time, they were not acting out of control and appeared scared shitless this time. She felt quite pleased, but she didn't show it on her face.
But whatever the case might be, their next words would define how cruel their punishment is going to be.
"Both of you explain everything now."
Zyra took a step forward, indicating that she would be the one to explain everything. Liora kept quiet about Zyra's willingness.
Zyra first mentioned the boy she had met earlier and reminded her about Arthur and even told her he had lost his memories and mentioned he had not come out of the room and it was already too late, so they were worried about him, which is why they left their post to check up on him.
She didn't say anything about punishment or ask for forgiveness or anything and just stated everything with a straight face.
Ivy didn't show any expression on her face and coldly stated,
"If anything you said turns out to be false, I don't have to tell you what would happen to both of you."
Liora shuddered slightly due to sensing her thick mana leaking out when she said these words, but knowing it was the truth, she felt reassured.
Arthur, standing behind the door, also shuddered a little due to the thick mana released from Ivy.
He had heard everything, and from the tone alone had guessed there must be someone powerful outside.
He doesn't know what is going to happen now, but whatever the case might be, he prays that the secret of his reincarnation doesn't get out, as it would surely be very bad for him.
