Chapter 272: The Dumbest Person in the Dou Qi Continent—Han Feng
The sudden laughter brought the thunderous cheers to an abrupt stop.
At the same time, with the barrier over the academy shattered, a man with a maple leaf embroidered on his robes emerged, laughing lightly. The man was quite handsome, with slightly thin lips that curved into a faint smile. However, his smile didn't give off a warm feeling; instead, it carried a sharp, cold undertone.
Behind him, a large group of powerful figures, all prominent in the Black-Corner Region, spread their Dou Qi wings, radiating an overwhelming presence!
Countless students stared up in confusion at the sudden appearance of this group in the sky, unsure of what was happening.
In the sky, Su Qian's face darkened as he gazed at the group that had broken through the barrier. His eyes slowly narrowed as they focused on the man in the lead, who was dressed in the robes of an alchemist.
With a cold laugh, Su Qian spoke, "So, it's you. Turns out it's the Medicine Emperor of the Black-Corner Region, Han Feng."
"Hehe, Grand Elder, you're too kind. That title is just something my friends in the Black-Corner Region came up with; it's not to be taken seriously," replied the man called Han Feng. His thin lips curved into a smile as he greeted Su Qian.
"Han Feng, this is Canaan Academy's territory. You've come uninvited—what are you trying to do?" Hu Gan, the deputy head of the Outer Academy, also looked displeased at the sudden appearance of Han Feng and his group. He slowly rose into the air, positioning himself behind Su Qian, and shouted at Han Feng.
"Oh? So that's Han Feng, the top disciple of the Medicine Sovereign…" Mo Yu, hidden in a secluded spot on the ground, heard the name and his silver eyes narrowed slightly. His gaze fell on Han Feng, assessing the man who had squandered his chances despite having such a strong start in life.
Since his rebirth in the Dou Qi Continent, Mo Yu had truly become part of this world. He had also come to understand just how revered alchemists were on this continent. Drawing on both the original story and his conversations with Elder Snake, Mo Yu had learned how respected Yao Lao (the Medicine Sovereign) had once been in the Dou Qi Continent.
He had been the top alchemist in the entire continent, a name that echoed throughout Central Plains. Countless experts revered him, and even the usually prideful Elder Snake spoke of Yao Lao with respect whenever he mentioned him.
Of course, Mo Yu, knowing the original story, understood that Yao Lao's title as the number one alchemist was somewhat superficial. His title could be divided into two phases: the time before Xiao Yan helped Yao Lao regain his strength and the time afterward.
Before Xiao Yan helped him revive, Yao Lao, despite being an eight-star high-grade alchemist, wasn't the most powerful alchemist in the continent, especially when compared to others in the Medicine Clan or the hidden powerhouses of the Pill Tower. In reality, his reputation was more symbolic, similar to how certain major powers in Central Plains appeared strong but weren't truly the top.
After all, there were hundreds of Dou Sheng (Battle Saints) in the Central Plains, but most so-called first-class factions were led by Dou Zun (Battle Sovereigns), not Dou Sheng. The eight great families usually didn't involve themselves in the world's affairs, leaving the field open for Dou Zun level powerhouses to make a name for themselves.
This logic applied to alchemists as well. While Yao Lao was an eight-star high-grade alchemist, many higher-ranking alchemists in the Medicine Clan and the Pill Tower stayed hidden from the public eye. That's why Yao Lao, with his eight-star rank, had earned the somewhat misleading title of "the number one alchemist on the continent."
Nevertheless, even if this title was more of a figurehead, Yao Lao's reputation and influence on the Dou Qi Continent were immense!
As the disciple of such a prominent figure, Han Feng stood at the pinnacle of the continent's younger generation. Yao Lao, who was still considered young among alchemists, had the potential to break through to become a nine-star alchemist.
In the original story, after Yao Lao was revived, he did indeed become a nine-star alchemist, earning the title of the true number one alchemist in the world, even gaining the respect of the Medicine Clan.
With a teacher like Yao Lao, Han Feng should have easily reached the level of an eight-star alchemist himself.
But in his greed and stupidity, Han Feng betrayed his teacher, falling into the trap of his uncle, the exiled Mu Gu Elder, and turning against Yao Lao.
Shaking his head at this thought, Mo Yu couldn't help but feel contempt.
Han Feng, an orphan, had been fortunate enough to be adopted and trained by Yao Lao, becoming an exceptional alchemist. If he had continued on this path, he could have inherited Yao Lao's network and status, becoming a powerful figure on the continent in a few decades.
Instead, his foolish betrayal of Yao Lao had abruptly cut short his future.
Mu Gu Elder, while treacherous and manipulative, had no interest in grooming someone as disloyal as Han Feng, who had even betrayed his own teacher. In the end, Han Feng was left empty-handed—not only did he fail to obtain the full version of Flame Mantra, but he also isolated himself from everyone.
Even in the original story, without Xiao Yan stepping in, Han Feng likely would have met his end eventually due to his own stupidity.
Truly an idiot…
As Mo Yu silently criticized Han Feng, the man himself smiled lightly. His gaze shifted toward the broken tip of the Heaven Burning Qi Refining Tower.
"A Heavenly Flame is a wondrous thing, a treasure of the heavens and earth. Sealing it away like this seems rather cruel, don't you think? As an alchemist, fire is like a sacred belief to us. So, I'd like to ask the Grand Elder to release the flame. There's no need for such imprisonment," Han Feng said with a faint smile.
"Hmph! What a ridiculous excuse. Do you think we're children?" Hu Gan sneered and waved his hand. Immediately, the sound of rushing wind filled the air as nearly twenty figures, all with Dou Qi wings, darted into the sky, their eyes fixed menacingly on Han Feng and his group.
Canaan Academy had always viewed those from the Black-Corner Region with contempt. It didn't matter if they were facing the infamous Medicine Emperor or the strongest figures from the Black List—Canaan Academy would not take a single step back!
"If you're here to steal the Heavenly Flame, just say so. There's no need to beat around the bush. After all, you are the disciple of a great figure," Su Qian said as he flicked his sleeves. When he mentioned "that great figure," a trace of respect flickered in his eyes, clearly showing that the person held a special place in his heart.
Su Qian's gaze then swept over the odd-looking figures behind Han Feng, his eyes narrowing as he spoke, "You've even managed to bring the leaders of Blood Sect, Earth Flame Sect, and Eight Gates Sect. Impressive, Medicine Emperor."
"Hehe, I brought so many experts just to be cautious. We're not here to oppose Canaan Academy. As long as the Grand Elder hands over the Heavenly Flame, no matter what conditions you propose, I'll do my best to meet them," Han Feng replied with a smile.
Su Qian's lips curled in a mocking smirk. With a wave of his sleeve, he sneered, "I know exactly what kind of person you are, Han Feng. If it were your teacher saying this, I might consider it. But you? Come back after you've trained for a few more decades. Canaan Academy didn't stand tall on the Dou Qi Continent for all these years on reputation alone."
Han Feng's smile faded slightly, and his warm gaze gradually turned cold. "Since you won't hand it over willingly, don't blame me for taking it by force."
As he finished speaking, a deep blue flame, like liquid, surged from within his body. A scorching heat began to radiate outward.
"A Heavenly Flame?!"
As soon as the deep blue flame appeared, gasps of astonishment erupted across the sky. With their sharp eyes, the onlookers immediately recognized the nature of Han Feng's flame.
"Han Feng, I advise you to leave now. I can pretend this never happened. But if our principal returns, none of you will be able to escape," Su Qian warned harshly as he stared at the deep blue flame enveloping Han Feng.
"Hehe, no need to scare me, Grand Elder. Your principal hasn't been seen in years—who knows where he's gone? And besides, if I acquire this Heavenly Flame, I wonder who will truly be at a disadvantage when he returns?" Han Feng said with a laugh, his gaze burning as he looked at the Heaven Burning Qi Refining Tower.
Hearing Han Feng's words, Mo Yu couldn't help but freeze for a moment. Then, he looked at Han Feng like he was the biggest fool in existence.
Han Feng truly deserved the title of the Dou Qi Continent's dumbest person. Not only had he betrayed his incredibly powerful teacher for a mere fragment of the Flame Mantra, but now he was foolish enough to think he could challenge Canaan Academy's principal?
Did he not know that the principal of Canaan Academy was Mang Tian Chi, a highly influential figure? Not only was Mang Tian Chi an elder of the ancient Lei Clan, but he was also a powerful Half-Saint!
A Half-Saint was so far beyond Han Feng's reach that even if Han Feng obtained the Fallen Heart Flame and a few other Heavenly Flames, he'd still get crushed by a single slap from someone of Mang Tian Chi's level.
Mo Yu seriously wondered if Han Feng was missing a few brain cells, given his continuous string of idiotic decisions. Even without Xiao Yan's intervention, Han Feng would have eventually doomed himself with his sheer stupidity.
Shaking his head, Mo Yu smiled as he thought about his next plan.
Han Feng might be an idiot, but his timing was perfect. It was because of him that the Black-Corner Region would eventually break with Canaan Academy, plunging the region into chaos.
And that chaos would be Mo Yu's opportunity to unify the Black-Corner Region.
As long as he had Canaan Academy's support, leading the Yuan Manor to eliminate Han Feng and his Black Alliance, the Black-Corner Region would soon fall into his hands…
Back in the center of the confrontation, Han Feng suddenly sneezed, feeling a sudden chill run down his spine as if someone had their eye on him.
Frowning, he quickly dismissed the strange feeling. Clueless about being mentally labeled as an idiot, Han Feng continued with his arrogant threat toward Su Qian.
"So, with your principal absent, I advise you, Grand Elder, to hand over the Heavenly Flame. You know how the people from the Black-Corner Region are. If a fight breaks out, your Inner Academy might be reduced to ashes."
Taking a deep breath, Su Qian's face turned an icy shade of blue. Slowly raising his palms, the surrounding space began to tremble under the immense pressure of his Dou Qi.
"It's been years since I've fought, but today, I'll see if you're truly worthy of those words!"
"Elders, protect the Heavenly Flame at all costs!" Su Qian shouted, his voice thundering across the sky like a peal of thunder.
"Protect the flame at all costs!"
The Canaan Academy elders roared in unison, their powerful auras surging into the sky.
"Stubborn old man. Dou Zong might be powerful, but it's not invincible. Even in the Black-Corner Region, we have people who can match your strength!"
Feeling the overwhelming pressure from Su Qian, Han Feng, though foolish, wasn't completely brainless. Knowing that Su Qian was a Dou Zong, Han Feng had made sure to prepare a few contingencies.
Taking a step back, he smirked and called out respectfully, "Mister Gold and Mister Silver, please show yourselves!"
"Haha! Han Feng, I hope you're prepared to pay the price for asking us to fight. If not…"
As Han Feng's voice fell, two loud laughs echoed through the air. The space rippled, and two figures, one dressed in gold and the other in silver, appeared like phantoms in the sky.
Seeing the newcomers, Su Qian's face instantly darkened, and from between clenched teeth, he spat, "It's you two!"
High above, two ghostly figures appeared, one in gold and one in silver. The two men were nearly identical, with white hair, white beards, and features as if they had been cast from the same mold.
"The Gold and Silver Elders, renowned Black List fighters, able to take on a Dou Zong when fighting together. Han Feng might be an idiot, but he's not completely incompetent—he brought some decent help."
Mo Yu muttered quietly to himself from below, watching the situation unfold.
"If you two plan on getting involved in this, then…" Su Qian's voice was dark and cold as he addressed the two figures.
"We're just doing our job. We all have our own interests to protect. Nothing personal," the old man in gold responded with a smile.
"Su Qian, we're giving you some friendly advice. You might want to hand over the flame. If your principal were here, we wouldn't have agreed to this job. But after so many years of his absence, who knows if he's even alive anymore?" added the old man in silver, his voice as sharp as his brother's.
"Wishful thinking!" Su Qian scoffed.
"In that case, your academy doesn't have enough fighters to defend it," the old man in gold sneered. Though Han Feng's group was smaller, their strength far exceeded the academy's elders. The Black-Corner Region's fighters were hardened by life-and-death struggles, and only the strongest survived.
In a real battle, these Black-Corner Region powerhouses could easily take on two or three opponents at once.
Su Qian's face remained icy cold as he prepared for battle. His palms rotated slightly, causing the space around him to tremble violently.
"For the last time, Han Feng—will you hand over the flame or not?" Han Feng asked impatiently.
Su Qian didn't bother responding verbally. Instead, with a wave of his sleeve, a powerful surge of Dou Qi erupted from him, launching a fierce energy strike directly at Han Feng!
And just like that, the battle erupted!
