Shen Chi returned home and saw Lin Xiaoguai sitting by the phone, seemingly lost in thought, while the scent of chicken soup wafted from the kitchen nearby.
"What are you thinking about?" Shen Chi bent down and asked as he approached her.
Lin Xiaoguai was startled, then smiled and said, "You're back?"
She paused, remembering what he had said he would take care of in the morning, and asked, "So, what did the culprit say?"
Shen Chi replied indifferently, "What can he say? He just said he was drunk and didn't even realize he had hit someone."
Lin Xiaoguai frowned; she remembered that laws against drunk driving had been introduced in 2008, and at this point in time, nobody cared whether you were drunk at the wheel or not.
"But don't worry, that person won't escape prison." A cold glint flashed in Shen Chi's eyes. Did he really think he could settle this privately? He must be dreaming!
