Days had passed quickly.
Preparations were going smoothly, however there was a problem.
The last shard memory was missing.
Someone had killed the Lord of The Dead, no one knew what killed it, but whatever it was...
It was stronger than a Fallen Tyrant.
When they arrived at the catacombs, the whole place was empty, the undead skeletons were gone.
As they reached the main chamber, where the Lord of the Dead was situated, the cohort members immediately realized the gravity of their situation.
Its whole body was destroyed—cuts, signs of thrusts and holes were present on its bony body.
On inspecting it, they all had realised...
That it was none other than Wren.
However, this was only a suspicion, as there were small holes that were probably caused by a bullet, and this didn't match his style.
They had speculated that it might be Selina, as she was the only one with him after he had disappeared to somewhere they didn't know except Sunny.
She was a mystery to them.
Nephis looked at the map— the symbol showing the crimson spire.
She needed the last shard, however, the one who was holding it, if her assumption was correct, might use it against her.
"A negotiation with him isn't a good choice, Neph." A soft voice spoke from behind, it was the blind seer of Nephis's cohort.
It was Cassie.
The quiet dancer was floating, helping her to locate Nephis, walking beside her she put her delicate hands on the surface of the table.
Nephis sighed.
"I know Cassie... it's just that negotiation is the only option, with him." She replied with a little wariness.
At her answer, Cassie laughed slightly making her confused.
"Neph is it really you? Where is the mighty Changing Star of the Immortal Flame Clan?"
Nephis tilted her head.
"What do you mean, Cassie?"
Cassie chuckled.
Then her expression turned serious.
"It is what I mean, where is your will? Don't you want to have revenge against the Sovereigns?" She asked with seriousness.
Nephis's eyes turned colder.
Feeling the coldness in the room, Cassie trembled slightly but then smirked.
"Wren is just a stepping stone for you. Use him—give him what he wants, if he asks for you to leave the throne, give him...it wouldn't matter, the loyalty of people lies to you. Once he does your work, throw him away, kill him."
Her voice betrayed her face, the venom and malice in it, were far beyond normal.
It seemed she truly despised him, not that Nephis knew it.
At her suggestion, the gears in Nephis's mind churned with intensity.
She had decided what she wanted to do.

Silence.
The meeting room was silent.
Sitting across the table were Wren and Nephis.
Beside Wren was Selina, while in opposition every cohort member along with her followers was standing beside Nephis, showing their dominance.
The negotiations were about to begin.
"So why did you call me here, Changing Star? I am sure, you are not going to beg me to help you" He said coldly with a chuckle.
At his words, the expression followers of Nephis contorted to that of anger.
However none of them had the confidence to speak against him, they had seen the results of going against Wren.
Noticing their expression, Nephis leaned slightly forward and spoke.
"I only have one question, do you possess the last shard memory?" She asked him with equal coldness.
Wren rested his legs on the table as if mocking her.
"Ah, the starlight shard? If you want it, give me something equal to its worth." He said with a sly grin on his face.
Nephis tilted her head, and gave him a smirk.
"State your price." She replied.
Wren squinted his eyes, like he was in a deep thought.
'Hmm...Her smile had sure got better, 7/10... though my smile is just better.' That was what he was thinking.
It was quite comical, knowing his next words might cause him to fight a deathly battle, but he still had these kinds of thoughts.
Wren smirked.
"Oh you know it very well, I only want two things, and they are both in your possession, my dear sworn sister. So give me one of them."
His voice was sweet, but hidden in it was a lethal poison.
A bead of sweat rolled down from Cassia's forehead, she pretty much knew what he was asking for.
He asked Nephis to give her life or the throne to him in exchange for the shared memory.
Nephis's expression turned colder.
"I don't think I can give you either of that." She finally replied.
At her words, Cassie jerked her head towards her direction, sweat was forming on her face, Nephis had made a very terrible decision.
"Ah, is that so? Then..." He paused and retracted his legs from top of the table, and stood up with his hands in the pockets of his pants.
"Then, I have to take things forcefully, don't I." He said with a sinister smirk.
Before anyone could understand what he meant, Wren kicked the table flipping it and then he kicked it...
Straight to Nephis.
Though it was futile, as her sharp instincts made her sever the table with the sword memory, she kept with her.
She had expected an attack from Wren after this, however nothing came at her.
Her followers who had been quiet , now raged with anger, the cohort members including Sunny had also summoned their weapons.
Though his weapon was against her.
He was at Wren's side.
"Sunny...what are you doing? Why aren't you siding Lady Nephis?" Kai asked with hesitation.
Sunny looked at his naive friend.
"I am doing what is right, Night." His words were cold but there was no lie in them, either he was not lying or it was a truth he believed in.
Effie was too stunned to speak anything.
The same was with Nephis and Cassie, it was too difficult to contemplate his decision, and the remaining one— Caster, was taking Nephis's side.
Wren looked at her expression.
"Playtime is over, Nephis. I have been ignoring you, but your stupid decisions have been stinging me like a wasp, even the holiest of the saints would swat you away, but I am even worse."
He snapped his fingers, and then everything was drowned with darkness.
They all were blind, except a few— Sunny, Wren, Selina and ironically Cassie who was blind.
The three weren't affected by it.
Harus was there.
Standing in front of Wren, he didn't look like the same hunch back, from their previous encounter.
"Welcome back, Reaper. I was waiting for you." Wren said with an amused voice.
His plan was working quite well.
Sunny who was standing beside him, looked at Harus with a stunned expression, the man he had wanted to kill for a long time was in front of him, alive.
He had somehow managed his bloodlust, as they all were now going to fight together against Nephis and her followers.
Death was incoming.
But only the defeated will be embraced by it.
Harus removed the power of his aspect, and the darkness that swallowed the vision of Nephis and her followers retracted to nothingness.
However...
On seeing the person, who was standing in front of them, their expression turned that of fear.
After all, a supposed dead man was standing in front of them.
They all were stunned.
When their gaze turned to Wren...
He was smirking in madness.
And then, his figure blurred and reappeared in front of Nephis, from the sudden movement of his, she couldn't raise her guard well.
So, her face came in contact with his kick perfectly, sending her towards the wall, however...
He didn't stopped there, as he pushed Nephis through the wall with much more brutal force, enough to break the wall along with sending her flying few meters away.
An all out fight had started.

So how is this? Tell me some ideas on how to torture Nephis and I think I haven't told you the name of the novel I am writing right? It is called "Can Regression go wrong", protagonist's name is Lucas and he also has.... hmm we will see when I will start to release the chapters I have written while hiding.
I am planning it to release it by the end of the 1st week of june or maybe my plans change and I release it on the ending of june.
