A thick cloud of blood spread through the icy waters as the fallen bison was torn apart by the swarm of monsters lurking below.
"I was thinking this couldn't get any worse… and now we've got fish attacking from below," Zarek muttered, breathless as he sprinted beside Damon's party, making their way toward the narrow rescue tunnel.
"Your timing's as bad as your jokes," Spectre snapped, spinning his spear. "You just made things worse for everyone, genius."
"All of you—focus on escaping this deathbed!" Damon roared.
Before they could move further, the ground ahead erupted in a blast of icy spray. From the shattered ice rose a monstrous sea creature—towering like a skyscraper. Its upper body resembled that of a sea dragon, while the rest twisted and coiled like the very monsters they had been fighting. It was the mother of them all.
