Chapter 17 - CHAPTER : 17 : Espionage Gone Wrong

USS Essex LHA-12

June 8, 1942

1:00 AM

Essex-12 kicked open a Hatch door of her ship with her bare feet, then ran across the Flight Deck, her shirt mostly loose. She summoned her MK19 Automatic Grenade Launcher and began firing in a general direction, yelling,

"Damn you all! For disturbing my beauty sleep! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"

At the Harbor dock, a simultaneous thumping sound reached the ears of one of the Nekos. Their animal ears twitched in reaction of the wheezing sound.

Neko-2 asked, "What is that sound?"

Just after she spoke, something landed between them and the other Nekos. A 40mm Grenade hit the water surface and exploded.

Neko-3 shouted, "We're under attack!"

The first 40mm Grenade's explosion was quickly followed by others in rapid succession, like rain.

*insert Fat Electrician: Bloop, Bloop, Bloop, Bloop. Gadush, Gadush, Gadush, Gadush*

The two Nekos maneuvered aggressively to avoid being hit. But the Ninjas who poked their heads out of the water were blown apart by the 40mm Grenades. Watermelon-like.

Neko-3 and 2 grabbed the knocked-out Neko-1, dragging her away from the raining 40mm grenades. Neko-1's eyes spun in total dizziness, as she had been knocked out by one of Lafayette's Lightweight Torpedoes.

Essex-12, like a toddler who had lost all reason, lashed out with her MK-19. Everyone below and those at the receiving end of the raining 40mm Grenades were having a bad night. The 40mm Grenade didn't discriminate based on nationality, gender, or life views; everyone in its radius was gone.

Lafayette moved out of the way as his Enterprise Air Surv. Radar detected the incoming 40mm Grenades. "What the hell, dude! I'm still here," he exclaimed as a 40mm Grenade exploded meters away from his position.

As he sailed away, he saw the floating unconscious Ayanami. He carefully carried her to safety, out of the range of the raining 40mm grenades. He couldn't just leave her there, floating unconscious.

He was careful not to touch any sensitive parts by accident as he carried her away, the torn Ninja Outfit making him uncomfortable.

Denver-856 and Bunker Hill-76 stopped firing their weapons as Essex-12 rained down the entire Harbor water with 40mm Grenades from her MK-19. An entire belt-fed of 40mm Grenades obliterated everyone on the water, turning floating bodies into bits.

Bunker Hill-76 radioed, "Cease fire, Essex! Cease Fire!"

"Poor Dockyard Workers, they'll have to clean this one up," Denver-856 said, glancing at the Harbor littered with mingled corpses.

*RATATATATAT – BOOOOM!*

Automatic gunfire sounded, followed by explosions. Arizona, still with his cigar in his mouth, opened fire with his M4A1 at her, emptying the clip.

Switching to his sidearm faster than reloading, Arizona fired shots, which she deflected with her katana. Forced into close-quarters combat, he brought his knife to his left as he held his pistol to the right.

"You're a fast one," he commented on her reflexes.

"And you're a stubborn one," she responded.

"Your friend cosplayers are dead, surrender. Don't make me ask again," he demanded, his voice firm.

"Surrender is not a word we Sakuran invoke," she claimed, katana raised and pointed at him.

"Code of the warrior, let's end this – shall we?"

"I happily obliged," she said, readying her fighting stance.

Katana slashes and gunshots sounded as the dance of battle continued between the two. Both were not on equal footing.

Arizona was forged in modern warfare where enemies were phantoms, silent assassins. His opponent, however, was trained and raised by the sword; her body and sword were one, every movement a crescendo of death.

1

One unlucky alive Ninja stood in his way. "Get the fuck out of there!" Arizona kicked that Ninja back into the water.

He summoned an AT-4 and lit one of the bushes in a fiery explosion. No bush was safe with him.

"Everyone out of the way!" She warned her comrades, but it was all too late as they all got blown to bits along with their carried explosives.

Tsuru-3 was eyes widened in surprised at the controlled chaos he unleashed; the destruction was limited and far away from any infrastructure.

"No way, he is limiting the damage only to this place," she exclaimed in surprise. "And... he still had his cigar in his mouth."

CVN-80 USS ENTERPRISE

"Grey Ghost...?! Sorry, but I don't know who you were referring to," Enterprise-80 stated, pointing her M4A1 at the two Ninjas, finger on the trigger, ready to fire.

"Don't play dumb with me, Gray Ghosto! Our battle was partly obstructed at Midway, but now. Prepare yourself, because I am here to finish our battle!"

Tsuru-2 shouted and lunged herself at Enterprise-80, releasing a slashing strike with her Katana.

"For fuck's sake! I'm not Gray Ghost!"

Enterprise-80 moved to her side, dodging Tsuru-2's attack, then aimed her M4A1 at Tsuru-2. But Tsuru-2 deflected the bullets with her katana.

She fired all her rounds, emptying her magazine in one go, giving Tsuru-2 a chance to strike. She blocked Tsuru-2's Katana with her M4A1.

"What's wrong, Grey Ghosto, are you out of breath?"

"How many times do I have to tell you; I am not Grey Ghost!" she shouted, pushing her back with her strength.

Tsuru-1 played her flute as she floated. "This melody is a requiem, to quell the dead."

As the flute played, ten Val Dive Bombers took off from her Flight Deck Rigging, armed with armor-piercing bombs.

Enterprise-80 noticed the ten Vals flying up, preparing for a Dive-Bombing attack. Seeing the incoming danger, she activated all of her CIWS Systems. The four CIWS swiveled upward and fired at the ten Dive-Bombing Vals, a high-pitched sound echoing throughout the Base. It was followed by streaks of tracer rounds that lit up like red lines pointing upward.

BRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTT

*insert C-RAM with tracer rounds at night*

For the onlookers at Pearl, the red lines of bullets ascending to meet the Dive Bombing Vals were quite majestic. The ten Val Dive Bombers exploded in the air like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Everyone in Azur Lane Base was amazed and awestruck at what they saw.

Adm. Nimitz, in his quarters, saw the CIWS in action at night through one of his windows. "Is that a line of tracer bullets?" he commented. This was his first time seeing a CIWS in action at night.

Adm. Philips also saw the light show of CIWS from his window. "Bollocks!" He was shocked to see the other-worldly AA-Fire in action.

The ten wrecks of the Val Dive Bombers fell from the air and hit the surface of the water and Harbor near the Carrier. The falling wrecks did not damage the Carrier or its Aircraft parked on the Flight Deck.

"H-How??? My Dive Bombers are all gone in seconds, this can't be?" Tsuru-1 exclaimed, seeing all ten of her Dive-Bombers explode in the air without dropping a single bomb.

This gave Enterprise-80 the opportunity she had been looking for; she then drew her 1911 from her right thigh and shot Tsuru-1 in the right shoulder.

After being shot, she fell onto the elevator deck and grunted in pain. Tsuru-2 saw this and called out her name.

"SHOUKAKU!"

Tsuru-2 disengaged from the battle against Enterprise-80 and ran towards her sister. She dropped her Katana and tended to her injured right shoulder.

"Are you alright?" Tsuru-2 asked in a frantic and worried tone.

"I'm alright... I'm alright... it's just a shallow wound," Shoukaku said in a calm tone to reassure her sister.

"Good..." Tsuru-2 said, shedding a tear for her sister. She then turned around and cursed at Enterprise-80.

"Damn you! Grey Ghosto!"

Frigate Belfast pointed her Polearm Blade near Tsuru-2's neck, breathing heavily from running kilometers from the Library to the Carrier on Dock.

( IMAGE )

"You're the one to talk. You attacked us first, and now you're the one who complains," she said while panting. "Surrender."

Tsuru-2 glanced at her, hugging her sister tightly.

"Took you long enough," Enterprise-80 said, just seeing her arrive late.

"My apologies," she said curtly. "It took me longer to get here from the Library," Frigate Belfast excused her absence.

~Back to Lucas and Doggos~

Lucas was dodging a barrage of 8-inch High Explosive Shells from the two Ninjas firing at him furiously. He returned fire with his M27 IAR and Mk-45 5-inch Naval gun.

Lucas yelled while dodging and firing, "I've been dodging shells since WW2, bitches!"

He then cursed under his breath, "Damn it. I know my RIM-116 reloading time is reduced, but come on, 30 seconds. I'm going to be sliced tuna with these bitches."

Lucas could use a BGM-109 Tactical Tomahawk Block V to finish this fight, but the whole Dockyard would be cratered, destroying some of the Port Infrastructure. Tomahawking them was out of the question due to collateral damage in the Harbor.

Lucas dodged the High Explosive shells like he was in a Michael Bay movie, with nonstop explosions going on behind him. And also "Ninjas."

*insert Van Damme, Explosion Jump*

The two 'Ninjas' tried to get close to deliver a deadly blow with their Katanas. But Lucas used his quick acceleration and maneuverability as a Destroyer, dodging Explosive Shells and Katana slashes.

He was then pinned down by Inu-1 with her Katana, Lucas blocking it with his M27 IAR Bayonet. Even though he was a Modern Destroyer, his opponent was a Heavy Cruiser. He alone was not enough to defeat the two Cruisers in Close-Quarters Combat.

Inu-2 found a small opening as Lucas was being pinned down by Inu-1.

Inu-2 prepared a single death blow slash at him. "Ara~Ara, looks like you're out of luck, big guy~."

As Inu-2's Katana almost got him from behind, but someone blocked it with another Katana mid-air, catching Inu-1 and Inu-2 off guard.

"Nani????"

The one who blocked the attack was a woman with short white hair and dog ears, wearing a Yukata with white nightgown underneath and fluffy-lined flip-flops, with Japanese Modern Destroyer rigging.

~Minutes ago~

JS Maya fell asleep after staring at the ceiling for a while, succumbing to the day's tiredness. Then an explosion was heard, catching her attention.

"What the!"

She hurriedly put on her fluffy-lined flip-flops and headed to the Ship Bridge. Looking outside, she saw Lucas in pants, Kevlar vest, and rifle, tangoing with two Ninjas.

She ran back inside to grab her Katana and put on her Yukata to cover her exposed skin. After grabbing her katana, she headed outside, jumped off the railing, and activated her Rigging. Her rigging was similar to Lucas's, with slight differences.

( IMAGE )

JS Maya's right-rigging was a single Mk45 Naval Gun, 64 VLS cells, and 1 CIWS; her left-rigging was 32 VLS cells, 2 pairs of Katanas, and 1 CIWS; and her rear-rigging was the Aegis radar (SPY-1D) and mast.

She sped up towards the Pier where Lucas and the two 'Ninjas' were fighting, hitting 30+ knots to get into the action immediately.

JS Maya saw Lucas being pinned down by one of the 'Ninjas.' She jumped and landed next to Lucas, then swiftly unsheathed her katana and blocked Inu-2's Katana just before it hit Lucas's back.

As the two Katanas met, they let out metallic sparks. Inu-2 and JS Maya's eyes locked for a moment. Then, JS Maya punched her in the stomach.

"Nani?" Inu-2 couldn't react in time as she received a punch to the stomach and groaned.

JS Maya then threw a kick, Inu-1 blocked it with her arms, senseless to what came next. A Flip-Flop flew and hit her in the face.

An after kick – but in this situation, an after Fluffy Line Flip-Flop. The momentum of JS Maya's kick threw the sleeper with great force.

Inu-1 was taken aback by the unconventional tactics she had never encountered. An after kick – but instead of a kick, a Fluffy Line Flip-Flop hit her in the face.

Lucas, a master of unconventional warfare, was amazed and now scared of JS Maya's slipper abilities. That sleeper was a precise strike to the enemy's face.

"Maya! You're late!" Lucas yelled out.

The two 'Ninjas' looked at her as he said the woman's name. "Maya?" their voice echoing.

"S-Sorry, Lucas, I'm just having trouble finding my other Katana."

JS Maya said, positioning herself between the two Ninjas and Lucas. She had never crossed swords with others before, this was the first time her sword skills would be put to the test.

Lucas quickly shifted to his firing stance after a quick reload of his Rifle. Side-by-side, the two faced the two Ninjas.

"Maya? But how? How did you side with the enemy?" Inu-2 said, holding her abdomen, unable to move for a moment as the punch hit her vitals.

Inu-1 noticed her Rigging was similar to his. The arrangement of weapons was similar, but she looked like Cruiser Maya, complete with those dog ears. She also had a more developed body.

"Wait! You're not Maya. Who are you?!" Inu-1 asked in a serious tone, staring at the two with a murderous gaze.

"I am DDG-179 JS Maya, lead ship of the Maya Class Destroyer of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force," JS Maya introduced herself, pointing her Katana at the two 'Ninjas.'

She then glanced at the Rigging of the two and remembered something familiar. She quickly looked through her Ship Data Base.

"That Rigging?" She pointed at their Rigging. "According to my Data Base, you two are a Takao Class Heavy Cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy."

"Imperial Japanese Navy? What are you talking about?" Inu-1 asked in confusion, this being the first time she had heard that name of a Nation.

"It means you're Imperialist Dogs!" JS Maya shouted.

"Damn, that's a burn," Lucas muttered.

Inu-1 was angry at her statement. Her face was full of fury, even though it was covered with a piece of clothing to hide her features. But her furious aura could be felt as she pointed her Katana at JS Maya.

"I will make you pay for insulting me!"

"Bring it on!" The two shouted in unison.

Inu-2 grabbed her by the shoulders, stopping her from dashing into another attack, knowing that once Inu-1 stepped into the range of these two, she would be no match for them.

"Why are you stopping me?" Inu-1 looked at Inu-2.

"The operation is compromised. Besides... the whole base is now alarmed about our presence," Inu-2 spoke and pulled out a Flare Gun, firing it into the air.

Lucas spoke, "A flare gun?"

The whole Azur Lane Base was illuminated by a red flare for a minute, everyone in the Base confused by the illuminating red light above.

Hawaiian Waters

In the eerie night and crushing waves of the ocean, four Kongou-class Battlecruisers and five Fubuki-class Destroyers sailed in formation, broadside to the island. A red flare could be seen lighting up above Honolulu.

"Looks like the operation is compromised," a black-haired woman with cow horns wearing a White Imperial Japanese Navy Uniform said, looking at the bright red flare.

"Seems like it," a black-haired woman with cow horns wearing a Black Imperial Japanese Navy Uniform said and prepared her katana.

"Prepare for Naval bombardment!" a blonde-haired woman with cow horns wearing the same Black Imperial Japanese Navy Uniform ordered the fleet.

The Turret Guns of the four Kongou-class Battlecruisers swiveled and aligned their guns as the onboard analog rangefinder fed them the target location and range. 14-inch shells were being loaded into the 14-inch main cannons inside the turret houses.

"FIRE!"

The guns of the four Kongou-class Battlecruisers opened fire with a large BANG. The full broadside of 14-inch shells raced towards the Harbor. The whooshing sound of artillery shells could be heard as they traveled faster.

Naval Base Pearl Harbor

The AEGIS-Equipped Ships noticed the ballistic trajectory of the 14-inch shells. They all stopped what they were doing and verified the incoming threat at the Harbor. The onboard A.I. classified it as a threat and calculated the impact point of the incoming shells.

Enterprise-80 gave an order, "Incoming threats. Intercept them!"

Lucas, JS Maya, Lafayette, Laffey-200, and Bunker Hill-76 fired Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles from their Mk-41 VLS Cells to intercept the incoming threat. The Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles raced towards the skies, intercepting the incoming 14-inch shells.

The Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile had received more upgrades in the past decade, its onboard electronics and guidance capable enough to Intercept Ballistic threats like Artillery and Supersonic Missiles.

All the 14-inch shells exploded mid-air, and the dozen or so 5-inch shells from the Destroyers that failed to be intercepted were met by CIWS and RIM-116.

Everyone in the Base saw the display in the night sky. Even Adm. Nimitz, Adm. Philips, and Cmdr. Thomas, looking out the windows of the Office Building, could not believe what they were witnessing.

"They didn't only shoot down the Vals with precise accuracy... They also managed to intercept a Battleship's 14-inch shells," Adm. Philips exclaimed.

"If that's only their Anti-Air capability, what is their Anti-Ship capability?" Adm. Nimitz said.

Cmdr. Thomas was just standing there, watching the whole night show. "Whoa..."

Harbor Dock

The 'Ninjas' used this opportunity to escape as the Modern Kansens were busy dealing with the ballistic threat. As they escaped, they left a trail of falling Cherry Blossom Petals in the air and throughout the Azur Lane Base.

Enterprise-80 grabbed one of the falling petals. "Cherry Blossom in Hawaii?" she said as the Petal in her hands vanished like illusion.

"Looks like they used this as some kind of a smoke screen to escape," Frigate Belfast said, looking at the falling petals.

"First Ninja outfits, second Cherry Blossom Petals... what's next... red, blue flames, and purple lightning?" Enterprise-80 muttered.

1

Hawaiian waters

The group sent to infiltrate the Harbor was slowly limping back. The force, consisting of 50 Ninjas and 10 Shipgirls, was now reduced to only 9 Shipgirls, one of whom was knocked out cold and captured. The 50 Ninjas were all dead.

Tsuru-1 was being assisted by Tsuru-2 and Inu-2 as they all sailed away from the Harbor.

Tsuru-2 cursed as she assisted her injured sister. "You will pay for this, Gray Ghosto."

Tsuru-3 was unscathed, but her face bore defeat. She had failed to protect the other Ninjas who were supposed to be planting explosives for destruction; that man had just riddled them with bullets.

"My fallen comrades, I'll avenge you," she vowed.

Oni-1 was being assisted by Inu-1 and the slightly injured Inu-2.

'That guy we've just fought has the maneuverability of a Destroyer, and yet his rigging is similar to a Cruiser. But that Destroyer that called herself JS Maya is more dangerous than anything I've seen. Her glares at me screamed danger,' Inu-1 thought, she never imagined such encounters..

"My katana..." Oni-1 murmured. "Waaahhhhh....."

Neko-1 was being dragged by Neko-2 and Neko-3 while screaming Ayanami's name.

"We need to return, Ayanami is still in there!!!"

"No. We can't. If we return, we will be captured!" Neko-2 stated as she started to cry.

"We really can't return back," Neko-3 said, trying to suppress her tears.

"AYANAMI!!!!!!!!!!"

They all sailed towards the formation of the Fleet off the coast of Honolulu, reaching the fleet waiting for them at their rendezvous point.

"What happened out there, Zuikaku?" a black-haired woman with cow horns wearing a Black Imperial Japanese Navy Uniform asked as she helped them get onboard the Battlecruiser.

Tsuru-2 was Zuikaku.

Zuikaku put her sister Shoukaku on the deck of the ship to let her rest as the medic rushed towards her sister to tend to her wounds.

Zuikaku faced the person who had asked her and spoke, "We faced Grey Ghosto, and Shoukaku was shot by her." She said it in a defeated tone and then looked at her sister Shoukaku.

"Thanks to your bombardment, we might not have been able to leave that place unsaved, Kongou-sempai."

The blonde-haired woman with cow horns wearing a Black Imperial Japanese Uniform was Kongou.

Shoukaku was being treated by an Imperial Navy Medic, holding herself against the pain. Her right shoulder was bleeding from the wound she received fighting Enterprise-80. "I-I'm... alright, Zuikaku. I can still handle myself..."

"No. You need to rest, Shoukaku nee-san. You lost too much blood," Zuikaku spoke in concern.

Oni-1 was crying like a baby and muttering to herself. "M-My Katana... My precious Katana! WAHHHHHHHH!"

She was crying over her two-piece Katana while an Imperial Navy Medic treated her wounded left shoulder.

"Umm... Ma'am, can you please stop moving? I'm still bandaging you up," the Imperial Navy Medic spoke, somewhat irritated by his patient's nonstop mumbling.

"Could you please stop crying! It's just a Katana, Hakuryuu!" a brown-haired woman with horns wearing an Imperial Navy Japanese Navy Black Uniform yelled at Hakuryuu.

Oni-1 was Hakuryuu.

"It's not just a Katana! It's my precious Katana, Haruna!" Hakuryuu retorted, mourning her precious Katana.

The brown-haired woman with cow horns wearing a Black Imperial Japanese Navy Uniform was Haruna.

The Ninja rested on the deck, defeated. Her eye watched the island getting smaller in the distant and dark morning.

"Unzen, you look defeated?" Kongou asked in concern.

"I failed, I failed to protect them, they were all dead," Unzen said.

Tsuru-3 was Unzen.

"Looks like we underestimated these Modern Kansens. This mission is considered a failure; let's return home," Kongou said with a dismissive wave of her hand.

The Fleet off the coast of Honolulu resigned and sailed back to the Sakura Empire, their presence known, and they needed to withdraw into safety.

The Battlecruisers and Destroyers left waves in their wake as the vessels sped out of reach of Azur Lane Planes and retaliation.

On the deck of Battlecruiser Kongou, Haruna furrowed her brows and frowned. "Maybe we should bring better fighters than Hakuryuu and Unzen."

Kongou was looking at the Shipgirls they had sent on the mission when she noticed someone was missing. She then asked one of them, "Where is Ayanami? I didn't see her?"

The Nekos were silent about what had happened to Ayanami. Kongou noticed their silence and asked them, "What happened to Ayanami?"

Neko-1 then answered, crying as the other Nekos started tearing up. "She is captured by the enemy, Kongou-san."

She then ran towards Kongou and hugged her wrapping her hands around her waist, crying. The other Nekos started crying too.

The others were silent about the news of Ayanami being captured by the enemy.

"We need to rescue Ayanami," Haruna said.

"No. We are not going back there... the whole Base is now alerted to our presence. We are returning back to—Get down!"

*BOOOM!*

Kongou couldn't finish the word she was about to say as one of the Kongou-class Battlecruiser's bridge exploded out of nowhere.

"Enemy attack!"

Then one of the escort Fubuki-class Destroyers at the rear of the Battlecruiser was hit in the superstructure and exploded, illuminating the other trailing Destroyers. Then one of the other Kongou Battlecruisers was also hit in the superstructure with HE Shells.

The Kongou Sisters ducked down as Shells rained down from the Harbor. Return fire was impossible as they were out of the maximum range of their Main Guns.

"They're reaching us!" Unzen exclaimed.

They were all awestruck as the range and accuracy of each shot baffled them to the core, the true power of each Modern Kansen being displayed.

Azur Lane Base Pearl Harbor

The Nuclear Cruiser's bow-mounted single Deck AGS-Gun (Advance Gun System) swiveled its cannon towards the fleeing Ships and fired 155mm Guided Rounds at a firing rate of 20 rounds per minute. Every shot was a direct hit, guided by Radar.

This Advanced Gun System, or AGS, was a collaboration between the US Army and US Navy to mount the new L/58 XM907 Gun to each respective Military Branch. The Navy wanted to leverage the Excalibur munition from the Army, capable of being fired at a distance of 50+ miles.

The 155mm Rounds could not penetrate the armor plate of the Battlecruisers, but they were enough to engulf the whole unarmored superstructure in a hellfire of explosion.

The Mk-45 Naval Guns of the Next-Generation Destroyers joined in the bombardment of the fleeing Fleet detected off the Hawaiian Waters.

With the help of the Aegis Combat System, all 127mm and 155mm rounds hit their mark. The Fubuki-class Destroyers and the four Kongou-class Battlecruisers were now ablaze with the return fire from the Modern Kansens' Guided Munitions.

"Those fucking Ninjas wore too much revealing outfit for a fucking Ninja," Lucas said in irritation, looking in the direction where the 157mm and 127mm Rounds were hitting one of the fleeing Ships in the far distance.

"I'm asking the same. Those outfits hinder the purpose of concealment," JS Maya agreed with him.

Arizona casually walked towards them with a used AT-4 Rocket Launcher, puffing smoke. Fire and smoke engulfed the garden where he had battled that woman Ninja. Whoever owned that garden would be in tears tomorrow.

"You two alright?" He inquired about their condition.

"Fine, what about you?" Lucas pointed at him.

Arizona shifted his attention to JS Maya. "Her?"

"Dunno... seems like she's deep in thought after that encounter with the Sakurans," Lucas said as JS Maya stared in the direction of the bombardment.

Minutes passed, and the Azur Lane Shipgirls arrived at the scene of devastation, but what greeted them was beyond devastation. There were 50 dead bodies floating, mangled and torn, in the Harbor near the moored Modern Warships.

Wales, Illustrious, Hood, Hornet, Yorktown, and Enterprise-6 ran towards the location of Lucas, JS Maya, and Arizona. They all came with their Rigging activated, anticipating any enemy attack.

Enterprise-6 arrived at the scene with battle bows ready, but she was too late as there were no hostiles left. "Are you two alright?" she asked.

The scene that greeted her was not one of devastation but the two unharmed Destroyers in their Rigging and Arizona.

Lucas was in his pants and vest, packed with ammunition. JS Maya was in her Yukata, Katana and Fluffy Line Flip-Flops. Arizona was in his Digital Desert Camo, vest, and gear, along with an empty AT-4.

"Is everyone alright?" Wales asked, her voice carrying concern and urgency.

"Sorry, but it seems the party seems to be over," Lucas said lightheartedly.

"We're alright, we were just caught off guard," Arizona said, the attire of the two displaying the urgency of the situation.

"I didn't know they would conduct an attack at the Base for a second time. This time they intended to fight the Modern Kansens. But why?" Illustrious said.

"I thought half of their Strike Forces had decreased after receiving extensive damages from the recent Battle in Midway Islands and Mirror Sea," Yorktown said.

"Yeah... you're right," Wales agreed.

Wales couldn't help but notice the attire of the two. "May I inquire, did you run into battle in that attire, Mr. Lucas?"

Lucas responded, "I was about to take a shower, but then suddenly there was an intruder, so... I had to fight with only my pants, vest, and rifle. I had to rush to the scene. And Maya there just recently woke up from her sleep. I hope it doesn't create any controversy. Right...?"

"Well... rushing to the battlefield in whatever clothing because it's urgent is excusable," Wales said.

"Speaking of Pajamas," Arizona uttered.

Lafayette, in his PJs, walked towards their location while carrying an unconscious Shipgirl with Horns/Antenna, catching the attention of Javelin, Unicorn, and Laffey-459.

Lafayette spoke to get their attention. "Hey guys, I've got something."

He then lowered the unconscious Shipgirl and slowly removed the Ninja Mask, revealing a girl's face with Antenna/Horns.

Javelin, Unicorn, and Laffey-459 recognized the face of the Shipgirl that Lafayette had brought.

"AYANAMI!" They called out her name in surprise, then got closer to Ayanami.

"Did you do that... kid?" Lucas asked, placing his hand on Lafayette's shoulders with a proud smile.

"Yeah...." Lafayette replied, somewhat feeling the guilt of hurting her.

"It's a fight... you did your very best," Lucas said, trying to lessen his concern about the girl he had beaten.

A concerned voice boomed; it came from BB Arizona. She ran towards Arizona, concerned if he was hurt. She checked if he had sustained substantial damage, her overbearing care making him uncomfortable.

1

"Are you hurt, aren't you?" she asked with tears in her eyes. "Tell me if you're alright." She placed her palm over his forehead.

"I'm alright—I'm alright," Arizona said, a bit flustered by the genuine concern of BB Arizona.

Lucas crackled into laughter as the scene was too comedic, but in JS Maya's eyes, it was heartwarming.

The scene was awkward as the stoic Submarine Arizona was being tended to by the concerned BB Arizona, like a mother. Luckily for him, his strapped radio crackled in a neck of time.

"Arizona, do you copy, over?" Enterprise-80's voice sounded on the crackling radio.

He responded to the call. "This is Arizona, I received you, over."

"I request your presence." That order he received carried a weight.

CVN-80 USS Enterprise

Enterprise-80 at the Deck of her Carrier, slowly went down to the Submarine USS Arizona, scrolled papers in hand. Arizona was on deck, hands on his hips, looking down at the corpses littering the waters near his moored Submarine.

Enterprise-80 handed him the scrolled paper and gave him a mission. "I want you to prepare for a sortie... I've got a mission for you," she said in a serious monotone.

The scrolled paper she gave him was a map of the whole Pacific Ocean that she had borrowed from Adm. Nimitz. On the map, there was a mark "X." Arizona saluted and went inside the Submarine along with Meowfficers.

She stood on the Flight Deck of her Carrier, watching USS Arizona leave the Harbor as the cold breeze gently blew her hair. The Submarine was heading into the vast ocean in the darkness of 2:00 AM in the morning. Arizona's mission was so Top Secret that he had to leave under the cover of darkness.

From behind, Adm. Nimitz walked towards her and asked, "Where is he going?"

She responded without breaking her gaze on the Nuclear Submarine leaving the Harbor. "I am sending him on a secret mission." Her voice was as cold as ice, matching the cold breeze sweeping over them.

"I'm sorry to drag you into this kind of a mess... we didn't expect—" Adm. Nimitz tried to apologize to her, but she cut him off.

"Everyone makes a mistake, Admiral. And that's why we learn from it and never repeat it... again."

"I know...." Adm. Nimitz said.

"I must admit... I underestimated this world so much that I forgot how dangerous it really is.... Now, I'm paying for it," she said in a dim undertone.

"You said it, everyone makes a mistake. Even I make mistakes. Enterprise, you're a human too," he said.

"You're right... Ship or not, I'm a Human now."

SSN-803 USS Arizona

Arizona addressed the Crew/Manjuus as they gathered in the Control Room of the Submarine, all are eager for their very first mission on a new world. Some didn't leave their station and just listened to his announcement.

"Okay, listen up! We've been given an important mission by Miss Enterprise." He raised the folded dossier in his hand. "So I want you all to perform well for our very first mission!"

The Manjuus and Meowfficers cheered, excited to have something to do other than sit at their stations waiting for something to happen.

"All hands to your battle stations!"

Everyone was hyped about their first mission and started running to their stations as the Nuclear Submarine left the comfort of the enclosed Harbor.

*DIVE! DIVE! DIVE! DIVE!*

The intercoms blared, announcing the Submarine descending into the darkest depths below the waves.

"We're finally going in, huh," Arizona muttered, his gaze fixated on the map given to him. On the map, a certain Island with a marked X was visible. Sakura Empire.
