Chapter 239 - 239 Nobunaga and Pakunoda’s Legacy

"Even if it doesn't affect my reputation this time, I don't want to be a bodyguard anymore. It's more dangerous than I imagined!"

Ross and Lisa spoke in unison, their voices tinged with exasperation.

They both turned to Kay Taylor, who stood nearby with his usual composed demeanor.

"Don't worry. It's just a matter of connections," Kay Taylor said with a gravelly chuckle. "I've already found your next opportunity."

"Thank you so much, Uncle Taylor!" the two exclaimed, visibly relieved.

Lisa eagerly asked, "So, Uncle Taylor, what kind of job did you find for us?"

Kay Taylor raised a hand, signaling her to temper her enthusiasm. "I've set it up, but getting hired is up to you. You'll need to prove yourselves."

"Of course, Uncle! We'll give it our best!"

"Good," Kay replied with a nod. "Just remember, I wouldn't throw you into a bad situation. But, if I ever need a favor, I'll expect you to step up."

The pair straightened up immediately. "We understand! We'll always be there when you need us."

Satisfied, Kay Taylor slipped his phone from his pocket. His gaze lingered on a contact labeled Gon.

The Auction

The Auction, also known as the Southernpiece Auction, was a hallmark of Yorknew City. Unlike the underground auctions catering to criminals and outlaws, this upper-class event attracted the elite from across the world.

From nobles and aristocrats to influential business magnates, the Southernpiece Auction was a gathering of the powerful and wealthy. It was more than just a place to bid on rare treasures, it was a hub for networking and striking lucrative deals.

Held in the grandest hall of the city, the event was renowned for its opulence. Tickets, priced at a staggering four million Jenny, were symbols of prestige. For someone, it was a chance to step into the world of the elite, while for established figures, it was a venue to consolidate their influence.

Despite its exclusivity, thieves and con artists often found ways to infiltrate. Lisa and Ross were no exception. After stealing tickets, suits, and a luxury car, they had effortlessly blended into the crowd.

Ronnel's Preparations

After leaving the Hotel, Ronnel made a quick call to Milluki. The two planned to meet after the auction, giving Ronnel time to explore the venue.

With Jenny earned from gambling and betting, Ronnel purchased a ticket and donned a sleek suit. The grandeur of the venue left him momentarily awestruck as he stepped inside.

The auction floor was divided into sections labeled A through D, each featuring different types of items. Sections A, C, and D showcased antiques, jewels, and memorabilia, none of which interested Ronnel. Instead, he headed to Section B, where Feitan and Phinks had already taken their seats.

Choosing a spot some distance away, Ronnel settled in and began examining the spoils of his recent encounters:

Nobunaga Hazama:[Martial Arts Talent (Intermediate)][Essence of Mind][Sword Talent (Intermediate)][Advanced Sword Drawing]

While Nobunaga's Nen abilities didn't manifest among the harvest, Ronnel wasn't surprised. They likely didn't suit his style.

Pakunoda:[Essence of Mind][Martial Arts Talent (Elementary)]Nen: Memory Bomb]

Pakunoda's Memory Bomb Nen allowed her to extract and share memories through physical contact, with a limit of six memory bullets per use. It was both precise and versatile—a power Ronnel greatly appreciated.

After carefully storing the talents in his inventory, Ronnel leaned back in his seat. He cast a glance toward the other Phantom Troupe members before turning his attention to the stage as the auction began.
