The vampires in the old city that once belonged to Thunder were living normally. The change in leadership was not extreme, but little by little the changes became apparent. The streets were emptier, the vampires they once knew were gone, some forced to join the armies and treated like puppets.
Taking on difficult and risky tasks, some were forced and had a lower status than the vampires who had been loyal to Cinder from the beginning.
"So many dead," murmured one of the vampires, who, luckily for him, had not been chosen to be killed to reduce the population and make it easier to control the city.
But he also understood his lord, who submitted to Cinder after being on the verge of being attacked by Cinder's army. If they had not surrendered, they might have been killed or even expelled from these lands, which are close to their homeland.
They did not want to leave, but the price of submission was very high.
