Chapter 19 - DW: The Mechanic Chapter 17

I can see the light in my eyes despite them being closed as I slowly wake from my sleep. As I do, I start to remember what happened. Before falling into restorative sleep, I was getting my TARDIS operational. The last thing I remember is lying in front of my TARDIS control console.

After remembering, I jolt up, my eyes open, looking around me to see where I am. Looking around the room, I see it's the same room the Doctor was put in by Rose, Jackie and Mickie.

I slowly move to the edge of the bed, then move my legs to the floor before standing up, making my way to where I know the bathroom is to make sure I am still me, or rather, I have not regenerated. On the way to the bathroom, I see the doctor, Rose, Jackie and Mickie, but I ignore them, focusing solely on my purpose.

Once in the bathroom, I look directly into the mirror and to my relief, I look the same. I know I was cutting it close, but it's a relief I was able to go into restorative sleep before I hit the point of no return. Slowly leaving the bathroom room everyone is looking at me strangely, except for the Doctor, who has a knowing smile on his face.

"Don't look at me like that, I was close to missing the safe point, meaning I would end up going through what the Doctor did, Sorry to disappoint, but I am not ready to go yet" My last words cause everyone to look confused but I do not elaborate, since each incarnation has different personalities, how was I suppose to explain that to a normal hu8man they would think I was crazy or suffering from multiple personality disorder.

After they finally calm down, the Doctor speaks," Well, you did it, your TARDIS is fully operational, well, I say that, but she refuses to let anyone inside before you, she barely let me in to get you out when we landed back here, if it was not for my TARDIS speaking to your somehow you would have woke up where you fell asleep. As for how they communicated, it's beyond me, I did not know they could do that".

After hearing his words, I searched my knowledge to see how that was possible, and after thinking, I came to a shocking discovery as I looked at a new section of my system window.

System: Bonds

(Bonds are not things like friendship, they are Bonds that connect two individuals together, in rare cases, it's possible for those who a bonded to gain the abilities of the ones they are bonded to.)

TARDIS(unnamed)

B.LV Max

Abilities shared

Mechanical force: communication capabilities only.

(This is your TARDIS, as it was grown using your mechanical Force, and you unknowingly letting your intentions seep through during its growth, the bond is maxed. The Bond has allowed your TARDIS to use mechanical force in a very limited way. Note, it will not be able to break this limitation.)

Seeing this, I realise how it was able to communicate with the Doctor's TARDIS, it has no control, so Sexy, as the Doctor calls her, must have used that to communicate. Knowing this, I look at the Doctor and explain the most likely possibility.

After hearing what I say, the Doctor asks me to follow him, saying it's time to see my TARDIS, which is waiting in the same alley that he likes to land in when he comes to Jackie's apartment.

The walk is short as we talk about what I plan to do, to which I say I plan on exploring time and space, and he laughs at that. Not long later, we reach the alley, and what I see is the Doctor's iconic TARDIS beside a pitch-black telephone booth with limo-tinted glass, with a Telephone booth on all four sides at the top.

It looks cool for a telephone booth, not complaining but I have to ask if its stuck like that, his response shocks me" it seems to like that shape it went through a few different shapes before choosing that one, those being a police box, a portable potty and surprisingly a shed, not sure why it tested the last one but it did before choosing this shape so for now that's what it will look like it may change it sometimes but most oof the time it will take that shape, it's not bad if you ask me".

After discussing the exterior, it was time to enter and see the interior. Walking up to the door. I grab the handle before pulling to open, with a click the door opens to reveal an interior I am familiar with, it's the one from the movie with the *the Doctor although slightly difference ethe floor matches the black exterior colour while the walls are a dark grey, the center looks like the one from the movie bit the 6 metal towers that connect to the main console are black with all the cross beams that are seen on the back surface of each tower are blue, which would not normally look good but here, as I look up and see the ceiling which is a literal night sky with stars shining it surprisingly fits well.

The Doctor, seeing the interior from the entrance, looks in shock at recognising the interior, although slightly different, its general design is the same as one of his past interiors, so it's understandable that he is genuinely shocked at seeing it.

It takes the Doctor a moment to collect himself after seeing a blast from the past, but once he does, he's back to his good old self. Realising that I will need to speak to my TARDIS, he gives me his signature smile before leaving.

Once the Doctor is gone, I walk to the console, hitting a button that opens and closes the door. Once the door is closed, I instantly feel mechanical force reaching out to me, knowing it's my TARDIS, I reach out as well once the connection is made," heyyy, what do you think?" the tone sounds so hyper its as if someone give my TARDIS a full crate of energy drinks or something, not to mention, of all the things to ask on meeting me, she asks what I think.

Sighing, I reply "hi, um, oh right, I need to give you a name, right" Thinking of a name is not easy, I am definitely not taking the Doctor's naming sense, he called his TARDIS sexy, really, man, were the normal names taken? After thinking about it, I came up with two names. Both from the same series but from different media, one being Alice, the other being Ada.

After a few minutes, I go with the name Ada because out of the two, Ada sounds right, and feels like the right call, so without any delay," right how would you like to be called Ada" not long after I ask, she replies" hmm, a human name, I was expecting something similar to mu mothers. It's easy to say and short too I love it" hearing the first part of her sentence I wince at how my own TARDIS was expecting me to have the same naming sense as the Doctor.

After giving her a name, I start a proper introduction," Hey Ada, it's good to meet you, my name is the Mechanic, as I am sure you're already aware, I possess the mechanical force, and due to my negligence, you possess the ability to use it to communicate" after hearing my introduction she replies " so that's what that strange energy is that I can feel around me, I wanted to ask mother but she said it was your responsibility, she even said I had to wait for her transferring the knowledge she has till you were awake" the last part sounded like she was pouting about it.

With the basic introduction done, I move to the console and access the database so that I can input my real name. It's only right for my TARDIS to know. Once done, I hit the button to open the doors before walking out, closing the door behind me, only to see the Doctor leaning against his TARDIS waiting.

"You done, that was fast" Hearing his words, I just shrugged before speaking "All that's left is for your TARDIS to transfer the basic information on the universe and anything else she deems necessary. " My response just causes the Doctor to nod before opening his TARDIS door so we can enter. Once inside, I talk to his TARDIS about what will be sent to my TARDIS. Before the process of transferring is done, thanks to both me and Ada having mechanical force, I can use that to connect the two of them and do the transfer with mechanical force, making it much quicker; otherwise, it would take hours.

With the mechanical force, it will take an hour at most, as for why my TARDIS does not have this from the get-go, since it can see into Time and space. According to the Doctors TARDIS, it's because a newborn TARDIS may be able to look through time and space but understanding what it sees is another thing, its why they need the basic stuff being put into the TARDIS database, however as the TARDIS gets older it learns to just understand anything it comes into contact with, its also why A newborn TARDIS is not used until at least 100 years after they are fully grown.

They tend to be a bit in human terms, a bit of a ditz, going to places at random, and making travelling using one younger than 100 years both dangerous and crazy. My only thought is that despite knowing this, I still plan to travel using my TARDIS, maybe I am picking up some traits of the Doctor heading head first into danger, does that mean I am going to do a lot of running too, I wonder.

After the transfer is done, I make my way back to Jackie's apartment to say my goodbyes, since I have no idea when I will see everyone again. Hell, I have no idea when my suicide trip will take me or if the fact that Ada can use mechanical force will make this journey much worse than it would be for a normal TARDIS.

With my goodbyes done, I make my way to my TARDIS. Once I am standing in front of it, I take a deep breath before opening the door and heading inside. Once inside of notice that on the console where there was an open slot, it's now got what looks like a wrench sitting in the slot.

Seeing the wrench, my thought cannot believe it, walking over, I take the wrench only to discover its actually a sonic wrench, which I was not expecting. I thought I would get a screwdriver like the doctor, but no, my TARDIS made me a wrench instead.

I suppose it suits my title, so let's roll with it. Surprisingly, the side of the wrench has a strange glowing circle, which, from my knowledge as a mechanic, is used to attach it to my waist. it creates a field that holds it in place on the waist of the user when placed at their waist.

Putting the wrench at my waist, it quickly attaches itself there as I look at the console before speaking," Well, here we go, first flight, I hope it's not somewhere bad, something easy would be nice" after I finish speaking I begin moving around the console pressing the button that begin the take of sequence unfortunately I can't put in a location I want to go since Ada is new to this meaning it would be difficult for her to get it right and even if she gets it right by some miracle. I may end up at the wrong time.

Unlike the Doctor, I do not leave the brake, but the iconic noise still happens, however, it takes me a few minutes to realise that my TARDIS is using the speakers that hang around the control room to make the noise as a way to reassure me, I suppose, those are my last thoughts as I begin my tourney for real.
