Chapter 3 - Chapter 1: part 3

We both seemingly stared at each other, sizing each other up before the woman spoke. "I am Caster, Medea at your service" she bowed gracefully after her introduction, as if she was royalty. Which was fitting considering her status. I bowed in return, to be polite of course, and I felt the contract settle between us, her saint graph becoming viewable to my eyes.

True Name: Medea

Class: Caster

STR: E

END: D

AGI: C

Man: A+

LUC: B

NP: C

'Huh, not very physical is she' I shook my head as her saint graph became visible in my head. "So Master, may I have your name?" she asked as she grinned coquetishly at me. It was kind of endearing on her, beautiful even. I guess arrogance is attractive on some people, granted they need the power to back it up.

"Adam" I introduced myself to her as she grinned at me. "Adam, what a beautiful relationship this will turn out to be" she stuck her hand out for a handshake and I obliged her. "Of course, pleasantries out of the way, we need to get started for the grail war" she turned around and I had to correct her. "Sorry, no grail war ma'am" and she immediately turned around.

"No grail war, then what's going on?" she stuck her finger in my face and I really felt the need to use my command seals. "Were you not filled in?" I was made aware of the new knowledge I was given about my ability. Yes they know modern skills and languages, but the essence didn't explain anything else apparently. Yay.

"No" and she was apparently staring at me as if that was obvious. "There is no war, I just summoned you from my own throne of heroes" as I pointed to someplace above me where the metaphysical plane was. It did have the shape of a throne, but that title was still a misnomer as the throne was essentially a compository of the worthy individual into the record. Of course, heroic spirits weren't only heroic of course.

"Seriously, you summon me, a magus from the age of gods, for nothing?!" her shrieking response was noted, compiled, and then burnt. "No, I summoned you because I figured a competent magus would be beneficial for me to have as an... assistant". She looked at me and she then sighed and said "Okay, I give up. What do you need me to do?". A sigh escaped my lips as I found her irritating, possibly on purpose.

"Well, Im gonna go back to the world outside here, while you can construct a workshop with your A rank territory construction skill". I left after those words and exited to my apartment hall. I opened the door to see streaks of sunlight and I saw a letter at the foot of my door. 'A letter, from who?' I scanned the letter and found the sender as well as what it was for.

Sona, or Ms.Shitori, was calling upon me for the favor I owed her so I got ready and headed to what was the Kuoh academy council office, which seemed weird to me but I made it there anyway under the whisper of the students, especially since I wasn't wearing school appropriate uniform.

The school building wasn't bad looking, but it felt odd in many ways, most likely because of the demonic energies permeating the foundation, brick, and mortor. It was pretty, and the students were coed strangely enough. Then again, I keep overhearing lecherous teenagers talk about a recent switch to it so it was new.

I entered the council building and saw many students hard at work on paperwork duties and some were drinking tea and coffee, and some were even having breakfast as well.

"Nice to see you make it" and the voice belonged to Sona. Well, she looked the same as I last saw her so makes sense there. "Nice to meet you, I don't believe I introduced myself last time" I bowed and greeted. "Adam" and I stood up nice and straight, as if a steel rod was in my spine.

"Adam, what a nice name. I assume you know why your here" she fixed her glasses as she stared at me. I nodded, as it was not only stated in the letter, but the context clues were easy to see. "Im here for the job as recompence" I stated. "Of course, your job for the moment is to deal with a stray devil here in this warehouse" she pointed on a map that was sitting on her desk.

"How strong is it? is it noteworthy?" I asked as I rubbed my chin, hoping any helpful information would come up. "Not very many things, except scorch marks so most likely a devil with fire magic" she pushed her glasses up as she explained the little details. I nodded and was prepared to head out but I was stopped. "Adam, we also have found you a more, permanent job as well. We will inform you in a couple days time" she uttered as she showed me out the door.

I of course headed towards the spot I was pointed to. The walk took a long while, as the place was on the other side of town. As I arrived at the sight, the emanations of demonic energy and the vague dark marks on the road made the scene very dark. The sun was at its highest peak, meaning I had time to kill. To make sure nothing else can happen though, I nead to seal the place off.

I placed a mark at the four corners of the building. Each mark in the corner was emblazoned with a specific sigil and the marks were simple yet somewhat ritualistic. After finishing their preperation, I began invoking a single spell to create a barrier, a simple one yet strong as hell. "Barrier of the four directions, be formed from the essence of the four points of creation".

After the incantation was finished, a transparent barrier was conjured over the warehouse building. It looked thin at first glance but the amount of power within it was palpable to even the weakest of mages.

"I wonder if Medea would be willing to teach me magecraft?" I mused as I looked at the command seals which were infused into my skin. It was something that came along with the essence. If used correctly, I could potentially change the tide of battle. These bad boys had some nifty potential in them.

'Well, might as well go check in on Medea' I opened a portal to the home space and saw something spectactular. A space was being overlaid on the terrain, a territory. It was high level as well. I believe the skill at A-rank could construct a temple level workshop. At the center of it all was Medea who was constructing the space using her magecraft.

"Medea!" I waved and shouted to get her attention. "Oh boyo, you done already?" she asked as she laid her hand to rest, her spell halting. "So how goes the territory construction?" I asked as I gazed around the field. "Its been going slow as I have been facing some resistances in this realm, but I have a feeling the problem lies with you" she said as she pointed a finger at me.

"Ah, sorry" I said as I had a thought in my head to giver her premission to build the territory. "Okay the problem should be solved" I waved to her as she nodded and the process seemingly went on without a hitch. "Wow, that was quick" I said as I gazed upon the structure she built. it was made out of an ordinary building that using the stones I stored in here, was made into a temple level workshop by Medea.

"Nice place" I whistled as I looked up on the structure. It radiated magical energy on levels unseen even by me who was in the field. "Just Nice? Come on now, you can truly tell me how you feel" said Medea. "It ;looks nice, great even, as I can feel the large amount of magic infused into the vary structure. "Glad to see you aren't a complete novice" Medea chortled. I admired the building and looked at the time, seeing the night was drawing close and that I needed to leave.

I exited the realmspace and arrived at the warehouse which was bound with barrier seals. Waiting till nightfall was because of many circumstances. First, the supernatural is easier to find and subdue during the night, less witnesses, and it allows mages to control the memories and thoughts of others easier.

I stepped inside and the wiff of demonic energies hit me. It smelt foul and there was a rustle in the place. "Devil, show yourself!" I shouted, hoping it would draw a reaction. Then I felt a fluctuation behind me, on the ceiling no less, and I dodged as a glob of what was acidic sludge landed in that spot, and my eyes gazed upon the stray devil, the night not hampering my vision.

My thoughts on it were one thing and they were.....

'What an absolute ugly thing'
