The rumbling of the earth grew louder – a new wave of mutated creatures was rushing towards them from afar. The group of monstrous cats stared at the black metallic beast before them. Although this beast had just torn their comrade to shreds, there was no fear in their bloodshot green eyes, only madness.
Without a shadow of a doubt, all the cats extended their sharp claws and lunged at Warwick. The three nearest cats were almost within striking distance, their three-meter bodies casting menacing shadows, but the mechanical wolf didn't even flinch.
"Bzzzzt!"
Warwick extended its claws, and the device on its back began to accumulate an electrical charge. Then, a powerful arc of energy emanating from the device spread around it in a semicircle. The blue electrical discharge traveled across the ground, scattering stones, and struck the three cats that were the first to attack. Powerful currents of electricity instantly engulfed their bodies, causing their green skin to blacken, and then their flesh burst, and their blood, splashing out, evaporated into the air.
The energy wave spread for tens of meters, leaving behind scorched earth and plumes of steam. The ground around Warwick was covered in glassy crystals. The three cats that were hit first were thrown a considerable distance, leaving deep furrows in the ground. Their bodies blackened and shriveled, as if all moisture had been evaporated.
The other cats, who were further away, weren't as severely affected, but they still received serious burns. They fell heavily to the ground, their monstrous bodies covered in black earth and dust.
However, the pain only fueled their rage. With wild cries, they lunged at the enemy again.
Extending its red-glowing claws, Warwick rushed towards them. Green blood splattered everywhere as its claws easily sliced through their thick skin, tearing limbs and bodies. The mutants' claws, which could easily pierce a tree trunk, didn't even leave a scratch on Warwick's vibranium body. The material's ability to absorb kinetic energy gave it a complete advantage – it could ignore their attacks while tearing its opponents to pieces.
Just a few seconds passed, and the pack of cats was completely destroyed. Warwick tossed another severed head aside and looked up, scanning the area in front of it. These cats had come from that direction. In its eyes, that area was filled with numerous red dots.
"I smell you!"
Dropping to all fours, it ran towards the army of mutated creatures like a true wolf.
Even more mutants were approaching. Although their speed was lower than that of the cats, they were still moving much faster than ordinary creatures, and their size was much more impressive. They ran like a pack of predators, targeting Bruce Banner.
These mutated creatures came in a variety of strange shapes and sizes, but the majority of the pack consisted of mutants derived from dogs, as the Leader didn't have time to search for more powerful animals for his experiments. Stray cats and dogs, which were readily available, became his primary test subjects, although reptiles were also suitable for these purposes. In addition, thanks to his connection with General Ross, the Leader could acquire larger and more powerful animals.
For example, in the center of the pack towered a huge mutated green African elephant, striding across the earth on its muscular limbs. The African elephant was the largest land animal on the planet, reaching heights of almost five meters, but this mutant had grown to eight meters, almost the height of a three-story building. Each step caused the ground to vibrate as if a heavy tank were passing.
The other mutants seemed to move around this elephant as if it were their leader. However, after being infected with the Hulk's blood, all these creatures lost their minds and acted solely on fits of rage. The reason for their behavior was that the Leader was subtly controlling them with his telepathic abilities.
A mutated green crow circled in the sky above the pack. Unlike the other mutants, it hadn't increased in size or grown grotesque limbs. There was no madness in its eyes, characteristic of the other mutants. This crow was the Leader's creation and served as a vessel for his telepathic power.
Over time, the Leader had learned to control his telepathic energy better. Now he could link his consciousness to specific creatures. At this moment, for example, he was using this ability to establish a connection with the crow. Everything the crow saw was transmitted directly to his mind, and he could give orders to the mutated creatures below, as they were all his creations.
These mutated cats had been sent for reconnaissance on his orders. However, the Leader had already noticed flashes of light in the distance – it seemed there was someone else in the forest besides the Hulk. But whoever they were, he was confident that no one could withstand his army of mutants. Moreover, another group of mutated creatures was approaching from another part of the forest, delivered there by General Ross using a different method.
"What's that?" The crow turned its head, examining something below. Not far from the pack, directly in front of them, a black figure was approaching.
On Noah's side, he already knew that Warwick had engaged a group of mutated creatures, but he wasn't worried. After all, he was its creator and knew its combat capabilities perfectly well. Dealing with this pack was nothing more than a trifle for Warwick.
"What? There are more?" He suddenly sensed that besides the pack Warwick was fighting, many similar creatures were approaching from behind them.
"Dr. Banner, are you ready yet?" he asked, looking back.
About a minute had passed since Banner said he was going to transform into the Hulk. Banner looked as if he was having great difficulty; he gritted his teeth and strained.
"Um, give me a little time! This is my first time doing this voluntarily; it's not that easy!" he said through gritted teeth, with visible effort, the veins in his neck bulging.
"Alright, I'll help you," Noah glanced forward and addressed him.
"What?" Banner relaxed and looked at Noah in surprise.
"Aaah!" Suddenly, Noah approached him from behind, grabbed him by the waist, and threw him forward with force. Banner's eyes widened; right in front of him was a huge maw full of sharp teeth.
