Chapter 70 - Attacking on the Camp

As soon as the elite said "Begin", the soldiers took out their weapons and shields and started running towards the small pigmen camp with pure hatred and anger on their face.

I run along with them while the elites take the front. Jack, for some reason stays behind with Vimal and Tariq who are the only archers in the entire group. We were unable to find any other squads on the way to the camp, maybe they went in another direction and regrouped with other squads.

I hold my katana at the front with confidence and activate Ice Armor for more protection while running the 50 meters distance between the treeline and the fence we are about to break.

BOOM.. DING.. DING.. DING..

The elite from the front slashes his sword at the fence sending a lightning arc which blasts a part of the fence giving us the opening we need to enter the camp. It also gives the pigmen the warning their camp is being attacked and an alarm bell rings within a second the fence is blasted.

I see the squads that were patrolling the fence running towards us which has a total of twenty pigmen which will be easy for us to handle, if their reinforcements don't arrive in time. Since all the soldiers are in Mid-E, it will be an easy kill for them, but not for me and I will have to be cautious which Jack never forgets to remind me.

With the Ice Armor and the sleeveless leather armor, I am sure I won't get any serious injuries if I am a little careful. I see all the soldiers and elites have started their battle with the patrols without leaving anyone for me to fight, which makes me feel awkward standing in the middle of a battle doing nothing.

After a few seconds of keeping an eye on the battle and focusing on the surroundings, I sense many pigmen rushing towards us and I start hearing the commotion that is triggered by it. I inside the camp and notice many pigmen are running towards us only with weapons and no armor shouting their own war cries.

I grip my katana and move towards them and swing it at the first pigmen I encounter, but he falls down before it hits him. I look at him to see an arrow in his chest which killed him instantly. I look at the treeline for a brief moment before I swing to the right to block a sword that is aimed at my neck.

CLANG.

The attack was so powerful that it made me take a step back to diffuse the power. I look at the pigmen who attacked me and swing at him, but I bend my legs to dodge another attack from my back and miss my shot at the one standing at the front.

I immediately swing the katana at my back, but hit only the air. I turn and see the pigmen who attacked me already lying on the ground dead. I again turn to fight the other pigmen, but find him dead too. Both are having an arrow embedded in their neck.

The elites and the soldiers who have dealt the patrol they were fighting, rush forward passing me to intercept the pigmen who are coming out from the barracks. I join them and rush deeper into the camp.

I can see Vimal and Tariq are having a field day killing many pigmen, even the elites can't get to them with the speed they can run before an arrow kills their intended targets.

I look around to find a pigmen I can find, but unable to find any as they are all either already fighting or lying lifelessly on the ground. So I again run deeper into the camp where I can find a pigmen to fight.

But every time I find someone to fight, they are killed before I can get close to them, either by an arrow or a soldier or an elite gets to them before me leaving me swinging the katana in the air like a freak.

This goes on for another hour with me just rushing to attack, but couldn't reach my target in time and have to watch them die in front of me with frustration and helplessness to help the others in this battle.

I even try the battle exercise and Ice Wave, but still unable to fight or even get close to any of the pigmen in this small camp. All I can did for the past hour or two is rise my hand to hit a pigmen and keep it hanging in the air when the pigmen I targeted is already dead.

I show frustration on my face, but I am not as this is exactly what I wanted to do from the time I entered the dungeon. I am also not showing my full strength or speed in this battle, just half of it and that is why they are able to kill many pigmen with me killing none.

The others were rushing and fighting with everything they have and to get more kills which will increase their rewards for this raid. That is how the dungeon raid works, the more you kill, the more you will be rewarded.

I don't want any rewards from this dungeon as I came here just because of Obsidian Shadow which I was forced to join which I am not going to do. Earlier, I was focusing on my surroundings so I can keep the soldiers with me safe, not for killing the pigmen.

The soldiers and elites cleared the small camp within ten hours with no fatalities, but just a few injuries which can be healed easily with the healing potions we have in our storage space. They also got good bounty in the camp treasury which was filled with many potions, armors and weapons.

After the looting and searching the camp perimeter to make sure we did not leave any wanderers of the pigmen, we were allowed to take some rest before we start moving towards the center of the dungeon to meet the other squads before we attack the boss and his minions of this dungeon.
