Angry Patients
Kakashi stood on the outer walls of Konohagakure, forming hand seals as he covered his Sharingan. Even with his fingers blocking his eyes, the strange pattern in his Sharingan was still visible—it looked nothing like the usual tomoe.
Standing beside him, Guy gave him a puzzled look. "Kakashi, is your eye injured? Why are you covering it?"
Kakashi didn't answer right away. Instead, an unreadable look of pain crossed his normally expressionless face. "Guy…"
On the other side, Kurenai frowned, her expression filled with disbelief. "Guy, stop talking."
Guy looked confused. "Huh? What… what's going on?"
He was probably the only one there who hadn't figured it out yet.
Just two minutes ago, Kakashi and his subordinate, Haruno Sakura, had returned from outside Konohagakure. After retracting her medical ninjutsu, Sakura, upon learning that the others had been fighting all night, decided to deliver the intel to the Hokage's office herself.
Her chakra wasn't as vast as the jonin present, but as a medical ninja—and a jonin at that—her chakra control was unmatched, even surpassing Kurenai's.
Despite running at full speed all night and using her energy to heal Kakashi, Sakura was still in better condition than most of the exhausted jonin around her, aside from being physically drained.
Because of how important the intel was, Sakura insisted on delivering it personally.
Kakashi agreed since he needed time to get used to his Mangekyou Sharingan's power and had to stay behind.
Guy and Kurenai had been recovering from the battle, too exhausted to move much but staying alert in case of another enemy attack.
After Sakura left, Kakashi had told the two of them about his eye. Unfortunately, Gai's memory was a little… unreliable. He didn't connect Kakashi's eye to Obito at all. Kurenai, however, immediately understood what Kakashi was implying.
"Let's not dwell on that. What's the situation in Konohagakure right now?" Kakashi changed the subject while focusing his eye power.
Guy scratched the back of his head and looked at Kurenai. She answered directly, "Not good. There are seven enemies, each stronger than the last, with strange abilities. Luckily, Jiraiya-sama has intel on them, so for now, we're holding our ground."
Shaking her head, Kurenai added, "But most of us can't even put up a fight against them. If Jiraiya-sama weren't here, we'd all be dead by now."
"I see," Kakashi muttered, recalling the information Naruto had shared. But then something caught his attention. "Wait, seven enemies? Who are they? And how does Jiraiya-sama know their abilities?"
Kurenai hesitated. "They call themselves the Six Paths of Pain. Each of them has Rinnegan eyes. And there's also a female ninja with a special kekkei genkai that lets her manipulate paper. Five men, two women. Why? Is something wrong?"
"Six pairs of Rinnegan!" Kakashi's eyes widened. "Not other Akatsuki members? That Rinnegan?"
"What's the issue?" Kurenai sensed the shift in Kakashi's tone and asked directly. "Are there more than seven enemies?"
"No!" Kakashi suddenly spoke up. "The enemy isn't seven people—it's two!"
Guy was confused. "Kakashi, we saw seven of them. Are you saying they're just clones?"
What kind of clone can last all night without disappearing, even when attacked? And they all looked different. Was Kakashi's eye hurting, or was his brain hurting?
"No!" Kakashi stated firmly. "The Rinnegan can create bodies. Each one of them is using a different ability of the Six Paths. Including the real body, there are seven in total. That's what Naruto and Sasuke found out!"
"So those six Pains you saw weren't the real body. They're just six puppets controlled by a single person. Plus, there's also that paper-style ninja, so in reality, there are only two enemies. And Pain's real body must be nearby!"
Kakashi took a deep breath, his face turning serious. "Guy, Kurenai, you two go contact the sensory ninja immediately. Have them scan the area around Konoha for chakra signatures. The real body has to be close!"
Kurenai instantly understood what he meant and nodded. "The Hyuga clan is guarding the other side. Guy, you're faster than me."
"No problem!" Guy knew how important this was. Without a second thought, he vanished in an instant, shouting as he ran, "My youth is burning!!! If I don't reach the other gate in one minute, I'll do two thousand push-ups!!!"
"Ahhhhh!!!"
That energetic voice caught everyone's attention. Even in such a dangerous situation, they couldn't help but smile.
After all, with Guy around, it was hard not to feel fired up.
Watching him disappear into the distance, Kakashi continued, "Kurenai, my Mangekyou has a space-time ability called Kamui. If… Obito really is their leader, we have to be careful. He might use Kamui to teleport straight in."
"I'll warn the sensory ninjas," Kurenai said with a firm nod.
…
"Sakura, go to the Hokage's office and help the medical team treat the wounded. Jiraiya and I will handle things here."
Tsunade stepped in front of Jiraiya, rolling her neck.
Sakura glanced at the enemy, then gave a small nod. "Understood."
With that, she turned and left.
Tsunade cracked her knuckles, locking eyes with Tendo. "Hey, Jiraiya, you haven't forgotten how to fight, have you?"
"Are you talking about yourself?" Jiraiya smirked. "Don't forget, out of the three of us, I'm the only one who never stopped training."
"Hah, Orochimaru and I are geniuses. Of course, a slowpoke like you has to work harder," Tsunade scoffed.
"Yeah, yeah." Jiraiya sighed, keeping his hands in a prayer position. "You know how the Rinnegan works. I'd advise you not to underestimate Nagato. His talent isn't weak either, so… you better go all out."
"Like I need you to tell me that."
Tsunade took two steps forward.
As she moved, a powerful chakra burst from her body. The purple diamond on her forehead pulsed, then spread into strange markings that extended down her face and wrapped around her body.
A strange yet beautiful sight.
Tsunade clenched her fist. "Yin Seal: Release… Kid, you ready to die?"
Tendo's face remained unchanged. "Fighting two of the Legendary Sannin at once… this will be—"
BOOM!
"You talk too much! I don't have time to listen to this crap."
With a deafening explosion, Tsunade's punch shattered the ground beneath her feet.
The force spread out in all directions, blasting toward the Six Paths of Pain with full intensity. And the crazy thing? It didn't even contain chakra.
The Preta Path's eyes flickered, but after a moment, he frowned and leaped into the air.
Massive chunks of rock flew up, blocking the view. The spot where Tsunade had been standing was now just rubble, and all that could be seen were pieces of debris floating through the sky.
Tendo narrowed his eyes. "Regroup!"
The next second, he landed, and the other five Pains appeared behind him. Tendo pressed his hands together, and an enormous force exploded outward.
"Shinra Tensei!"
Tsunade's fist stopped midair. She frowned as she stared at Tendo. "Not bad. Quick reaction."
"Hmph."
Dao let out a cold snort without answering, but only he knew how terrifying this woman's strength really was.
She wasn't even using her full power, yet she took a Shinra Tensei head-on. Not only did she avoid being blasted away, but she actually held her ground against the force with her fist, causing her entire body to stop right in front of Tendo. He could even hear the sound of something cracking.
Was this woman even human?
Nagato was shocked. This was the first time he had ever seen someone counter Shinra Tensei with sheer physical strength.
His expression darkened. "I absolutely cannot let her hit me with that punch!"
Just as he finished speaking, the Asura Path, standing behind Tendo, suddenly attacked. A serrated metal saw shot out from his body and pierced straight into Tsunade's stomach before she could react, causing blood to spill out instantly.
Nagato was stunned again. "That easy?"
Of course, it wasn't.
The moment Tendo instinctively let go of Shinra Tensei, the seemingly impaled Tsunade suddenly lifted her head with a smirk. In the next second, her fist rapidly enlarged in Tendo's vision.
Blown away? No. The figure in front of Tsunade was instantly shattered into countless pieces, scattering strange mechanical parts in every direction.
Standing firm, Tsunade calmly pulled the saw from her stomach and tossed it aside. "A substitution jutsu? No… at that moment… I see, it was a Summoning Technique."
Tendo retreated to a safer distance. Even though he was just a corpse controlled by Nagato, his face still darkened from shock. "Are you really human?"
If Nagato hadn't summoned the Animal Path in front of him at the last second, it wouldn't have been the Animal Path that got obliterated—it would have been Tendo himself.
That terrifying strength, that precise explosion of power—not only did she kill the Animal Path, but she completely destroyed its body. It wasn't just damaged; it was shattered into dust. There wasn't even a full corpse left to revive with the Hell Path, and even Samsara of Life wouldn't know how to bring her back.
"How rude. I'm a perfectly normal human," Tsunade said expressionlessly. "But whatever. That's one down. And with this level of destruction, not even the Hell Path can bring it back, right?"
Yeah. There was nothing left to revive.
Tendo took a deep breath. "We underestimated you. Zetsu always said you were just a medical ninja, the weakest of the Legendary Sannin. Akatsuki never considered you a real threat. We never expected you to be hiding such power."
"Hiding?" Tsunade let out a laugh. "What are you talking about? I'm just a medical ninja."
Technically, she was. But calling her "just" a medical ninja would be the biggest joke ever.
Then again, not many people knew about the Yin Seal.
It was common knowledge—she was a medical ninja.
So knowing a bit of Taijutsu for self-defense was normal, right?
She was a medical ninja, so having a deep understanding of human weak points was normal, right?
She was a medical ninja, so being able to punch someone to death in one hit was normal too, right?
For the first time since gaining White Zetsu's intelligence network, Nagato was paying the price for a lack of proper intel.
——
PS: I know some people might say it's ridiculous that White Zetsu wouldn't have information on Tsunade, but technically, that's just how it was.
White Zetsu didn't even have intel on Jiraiya. In the original story, Pain was completely caught off guard by Jiraiya's Sage Mode.
In the world of Naruto, the common belief was that Orochimaru was the strongest of the Sannin, Jiraiya was the weakest, and Tsunade was "just" a medical ninja.
White Zetsu had no idea about Orochimaru's fractured soul. He also didn't know that Jiraiya's Sage Mode made him the strongest of the three. And while Tsunade had impressive combat power, her Yin Seal wasn't widely known either.
Right?
