"Damn!" Caulifla growled as she was flung backward, slamming back-first into the training room wall. She reached out, wiping a trail of blood off her mouth as she glared forward.
"That was better," Gray hummed, breathing slightly heavy as a bead of sweat trailed down his brow.
"That doesn't make me feel any better, bastard," Caulifla huffed back at him.
The two were in a much more damaged training room, as even the thick walls had been blown to pieces as it was filled with craters. This wasn't the first time it had happened either, but luckily, S-Class got a lot of funds and help within the academy, so it'd be repaired when they came back the next day.
It had been four days since Gray's initial spar with Caulifla, and the woman was finally starting to accept his training. That initial spar had turned into a full-fledged fight when Gray said he would train her, as the girl had responded by saying that 'she wasn't even trying' during the spar and that she could beat his ass at any time.
One ass beating later, and she had at least admitted that Gray could teach her a few things. Upon learning the next day that Gray's power level was significantly less than hers, being close to half hers, and yet he was still kicking her ass, she had finally agreed to let him train her.
Of course, agreeing to let him train her and actually accepting that he was right were two different things. It took three days of ass beatings for Caulifla to actually start listening to his advice and incorporating it into her training.
She's seriously going to be a monster soon.
Gray knew why Caulifla was considered the 'Goku of Universe 6' by some people, because her growth in only four days was insane.

An increase of roughly 600 million was an insane leap after only four days, especially when considering that she wasn't getting any boost from a system or from his party. It was all Caulifla.
She's going to be scary in a few years. I'm glad she's on my side.
Despite the woman's harsh attitude, the reputation Gray had been getting with her didn't lie. He was growing on her through the fights, and she was actually starting to feel like a genuine pupil - which was a bit strange because she was actually older and stronger than him. The increase of reputation was actually pretty quick for the short time he knew her, but it largely came from the fact that the majority of Gray's days were spent training with her now. He was with the girl for countless hours every day.
Since returning to Planet Vegeta earlier that week, Gray had been training with Caulifla for the majority of each day and then hanging out with his friends at night. Overall, Gray was happy that she was becoming attached to him because he was certain she'd get to the point where even if he dumped all his points he would still be weaker than her in a couple of months, or perhaps even weeks.
But she's not the only one who's been benefitting from this.
Gray had been getting an insane boost from a type of training that he had never really had the chance to indulge in before: Fighting against someone stronger than himself. While he could get a lot of stat boosts from grinding his skills on his own, fighting difficult multi-hour-long battles had increased both his skill levels and his fighting styles by a ton.

Through his small amount of private training, but mainly from having to use his skills so often to keep up with Caulifla's higher power level and physical ability, he had gained a ton of progress. Most of his stats had gone up at least one level, and a bunch of them had gone up multiple. Especially the lower level ones, as [Mouth-Beam] had even gained five.
Beyond that, his magical skills had also grown a lot from actually having a chance to use them in combat. His [MP Conversion] in particular had made a shit-ton of progress, as he had to use it constantly because of how terrible the conversion rate had been to use his skills. Now, instead of the 1-to-1000 ratio it had started at, it was down to 1-to-90.
His fighting styles had also both increased, as while he mostly used Broly's he had utilized Kolra's a lot as a teaching method. Caulifla was a very blunt type of fighter, as she mostly just tried to charge at her opponent and overpower them, so he needed to use Kolra's boxing to showcase that defense mattered too.
Not that I usually care about defense, but that's because I use Broly's style.
Unless you were a monster like Broly, you couldn't just throw your defense into the wind. Even then, his [Fighting Style: Broly] still wasn't a perfect style. It was certainly good and might even be the best one he could find until he got a chance to challenge Yamoshi again, but it wasn't perfect.
Yamoshi's was perfect, but I can't even begin to mimic it yet.
Not that he hadn't tried. During his spars with Caulifla, he had tried numerous times to emulate how Yamoshi had fought, as he was finally in a safe environment where messing up wouldn't result in his death while also being up against a strong opponent. He had only managed to get part of it down.
I don't get how that bastard could put 100% of his focus on both offense and defensive.
100% + 100% = 200%, but Gray didn't have 200%, because no one fucking did!
Expect him apparently.
The only other fighting style that Gray imagined could match Yamoshi was Goku's, or maybe someone like Jiren. But meeting either of them was probably far down the line.
From the stat boosts that came from upgrading so many skills, Gray's power level had increased by nearly 2 billion in just a few days. By comparison, it made Caulifla's insane growth look kind of disappointing, but Gray had a system helping him out while she didn't.
I'll train with her for as long as I can.
It was turning out to be a bit overpowered to train with someone who constantly forced him to use all his techniques and skills to stay ahead of her, but if he caught up with her power level the gains would decrease. As a result, Gray intended to hoard his points and reap the benefits of training with the stronger Saiyan for as long as he could.
I might not be in a situation like this again.
"If you would utilize what I told you, then you'd be doing even better," Gray hummed, but his words only made Caulifla glare at him harder, "Remember what I told you? Your power level is higher than mine, so trading hits only benefits you. You'll take less damage from my attacks while I'll take more from yours."
"I know! It's just hard to remember all this shit!" Caulifla groaned, relaxing her body as she reached up and grabbed her head, "Dodge when this happens! Guard when that happens! Don't rush forward when you do this, rush forward when you do that! I can't remember all this!"
"I-I can try to remember it for you!" Kale shouted from the doorway of the room helpfully, but Gray simply shook his head. Kale had also been there watching the training every day, but she was missing out on her own training in the process.
"You won't always be there to remind her," Gray deadpanned at Kale, "Besides, you should be training too. If you just watch us all day, you'll never grow."
"B-But I need to support her…" Kale murmured.
"Nah, he's right Kale," Caulifla actually agreed with Gray, grinning at Kale as she waved at her to join them, "Come on! Get in on this next one!"
"W-With you both?! I-I can't…" Kale responded nervously. Gray was about to encourage the shy girl, but a voice came from behind her before he could.
"She's right," Renso hummed, stepping through the doorway into the room.
Damn, harsh.
"Eh? What the hell do you mean!" Caulifla scolded her brother, "Don't be mean to Kale!"
"Not because she can't keep up," Renso clarified, "But because you'll need to put your training on halt. Gray, I need to talk to you."
I don't like the way he said that.
"About what?" Gray raised an eyebrow at him, waving at Caulifla as he walked toward Renso, "You two can keep training, I'll be back in a bit."
"You won't be," Renso said bluntly at his words, "It's about a mission."
Gray blinked in surprise at his words.
Does he mean an S-Class mission?
"What about a mission?" Gray asked slowly as he reached the doorway, "I didn't ask for one. I thought I got to choose when I took one?"
Gray had been planning not to request a mission for a long time at least - preferably never. It would put his friends at risk if they were sent on it with him, so he'd prefer to train in silence with Caulifla until he was strong enough to oppose King Vegeta and Frieza. Then he wouldn't need to graduate the academy anyway, so he wouldn't do any missions.
"You usually do. This is a special order," Renso shrugged, looking at Gray slightly apologetically, "It's from King Vegeta himself."
Of fucking course it is.
"Eh?! An order from the King?" Caulifla swiftly ignored Gray's suggestion to train with Kale, instead walking up to Gray and Renso in the doorway, "Lucky! What is it?"
This is definitely not lucky. I don't think my LUK stat has anything to do with it.
Gray silently wondered if he should dump all his points into LUK but decided against it.
That stat is so finicky anyway. It just activates randomly-
Gray blinked as he stopped his thought process, realizing he couldn't be upset at the stat being random. It was literally called 'luck.'
"I don't think I can tell you about it…" Renso trailed off as he looked pointedly at Caulifla, then glanced at Kale standing nearby.
"Eh? Of course you can," Caulifla strong armed him, literally grabbing her brother's arm and squeezing it tightly, "We'll go with him on the mission anyway! Right, Kale?"
"U-Um… right?" Kale answered less certainly.
That's… great, actually.
If King Vegeta was going to send him and his friends to some insanely tough mission, having Caulifla, and to a lesser extent Kale, around would help a lot - both in protecting his friends and completing the mission.
"There's a coalition of planets on the far side of Galaxy #117," Renso sighed, starting to explain, "It's largely a political play that it's being passed down to you. Numerous Frieza Force squads have failed to put down the coalition, and even a couple of Saiyan Elite Squads have failed. Lord Frieza seems to have given it to our King so our race can prove our usefulness."
So, an insanely tough mission that even Elite Squads failed, and I gotta deal with it? Sounds about right, fuckin' Nightmare Mode.
"To put it bluntly…" Renso trailed off, hesitating slightly before he continued, "If you fail, then King Vegeta himself will have to deal with it. That's the type of mission it is."
Gray stared at him blankly.
A King-Vegeta tier mission, and you're sending a bunch of recruits on it?
Considering the King's power level sat at over 20 billion higher than Gray's…
This is gonna fuckin' suck. Fuck you, Nightmare Mode.
