With the battles over, Night Silver met up with Brightness. Near the main city in a wide open plain they looked at the dragons that brought the battle to their doorstep.
"Sil, I know that what they did endangered our people, and our children-" He shut up rather quickly when he got that deadly glare. She's even stronger now. She makes me want… No, I shouldn't think like that. We agreed that once our wife Undine passed away the two of us wouldn't conceive any more. Besides, even that one daughter she had not too long ago, well… I see her in a similar light as the others. "I understand. I'll support whatever decision you make." He sighed, wrapping his arms around Sil, from behind. He could feel her shaking with an internal rage, his embrace seemed to warm slightly. He was no longer worried about his people, right now there was no one else to worry for than his mate, his wife.
The few other people currently present were some of the toughest warriors that Tus Nadair had to offer. They realized just how much this was eating their goddess up inside. They nodded to each other, and knelt in unison.
"Goddess, say the word, give the order. We, your faithful will brave any challenge!" Their voices resounded in chorus.
Night Silver slowly began to get a grip of her emotions. These emotions, they're overwhelming. "Thank you. But I won't be sending you into battle. This isn't a matter of fighting simple bloodthirsty enemies with low levels. These are foes with the strength to have their way with this world. So your orders will remain as normal; Protect the people from those who would do them harm, while remaining safe yourselves." She relayed as Brightness loosened his embrace, and she was free to stretch.
"We will not fail you, Goddess!" The warriors chanted before departing to their duties.
Brightness noticed that his wife was looking at the nearby buildings. "It's quiet now isn't it."
"Yes, it is… I want to resolve this quickly. Though if they keep reviving like that we might have to wait for them to age out."
"That would be less than ideal, wouldn't it?"
"Absolutely. Our people can survive underground for such a long period just fine enough. But I want the children to enjoy the light of the sun, and the freedom it brings to us all…"
It was around his time when one of the dragons stirred, injured, but finally awake. So, this is what she wanted all along. "Night Silver, the elven god…" Her voice was painful and strained, going into a long coughing fit.
"And what do you want?"
"You're desire… Is it what you just claimed?"
"Hmm? That's what it's always been. The freedom to live a truly full life, and to continuously give ourselves and the next generation a better life than we had before."
The dragon clammed up for a moment. If that's really what she wanted all along, then what was it we were fighting against her for? Was it seriously just our dragon's pride? Not to be challenged by anyone else? "I…" No, there's no way she'd accept me after what happened… "I see, that's quite the honorable desire. Brother Brightness, you got yourself a good mate…"
Brightness laughed. "I know I do. Sil is a wonderful mate. I love her a great deal."
With tears drawing out from the dragon's eyes, she continued. "I'm sorry… I didn't realize what you were trying to do. And I apologize for leading those evil ones here-"
Night Silver noticed her husband's mood change a slight bit while the other dragon spoke. He is struggling right now. They may not have got along in the past… But she is still his younger sister. And by extension my younger sister as well. Her hand balled into a fist, nearly drawing her own blood. She was part of the reason my children stared down such villainous opponents. Can I really forgive her for that? No, I can't! At least not right now. "Fine, you can be sorry all you want, little sister, but I'm not just going to forgive you. Words alone would never be enough to make up for what you did, even if you played a small role in it, you still have some responsibility."
"I suppose that'll have to do then. Get those bastards back for me, will you? I'll be able to die in peace if you can promise me that-"
"Bullshit! You want me to just let you off like that? Well, I refuse to allow you to die so easily. You still need to pay me back."
"But my injuries are fatal, I'm shocked I'm still alive even now-"
"Don't underestimate my abilities. Now, make me a promise to never bring harm to Tus Nadair again. And make another promise to make up for all the trouble you've caused me."
The dragon paused for a moment. Is it really possible to heal wounds such as these? I'm missing chunks of my body. I'll trust she can do it. What do I have to lose? "I promise that I will do everything in my power to support you, my dear sister."
"Good, now then, brace yourself. [Arch Over Boosted Magic: Regenerate] & [Arch Over Boosted Magic: Cure Critical Wounds]"
Brightness' little sister, bathed in a brilliant green glow. Her body began to reform its lost parts, and healed all other injuries in the process. The only downside to this was the intense pain of the process. Rebuilding the body is not a painless feat. And being a dragon it took a little extra time for the spell to finish, though the fact she was a dragon made the pain a great deal more bearable.
"I feel so much better now. Thank you big sister!" She stood up on her newly regrown legs. "Your magic is really something else. It's beautiful and powerful to boot." She then looked at the other siblings that had come with her… "Even if you can revive them, I wouldn't do that, they are unlikely to support you dear sister."
"I wasn't planning on it, I only saved you because you woke up."
"I-"
"Don't worry, you can stay here for a while. I'm sure that those rotten guys will attack here again once they've come up with a plan to fight me. For now, just relax and help out when asked."
