The New World.
Thunderclouds rolled through the skies, flashes of lightning splitting the heavens.
High above, the fierce head of a dragon loomed, slithering through the storm clouds.
Lightning danced around its massive body, and its lantern-like vertical pupils scanned the enormous fleet below before disappearing again into the clouds.
A divine dragon—its head revealed, its tail hidden. The members of the Whitebeard Pirates stared at the sky in shock, their eyes filled with awe and tension.
"Kaido!! It's Kaido!"
"Another Emperor has appeared right before us! Is he here for war?"
"It's rare to see even one Emperor, yet today, three of the Four Emperors have gathered in one place!"
"A once-in-a-lifetime event!"
Countless pirates were anxious, yet their blood surged with excitement. Among tens of millions of pirates, only four reigned supreme.
They were known as the Four Emperors—the strongest figures in the world of pirates and the peak of power.
On the deck of the Moby Dick, Whitebeard stood at the bow, gazing up at the coiled dragon in the sky, his aged eyes narrowing slightly.
There was no shift in his expression—just a deep calm. "So... Kaido's shown up right before the great war."
"If this guy appeared out of nowhere, then he's likely not here as a friend."
"What is he planning?"
Marco and the others tensed up, their eyes serious and grim. The power of a Yonko could not be ignored—especially at such a critical moment.
The massive Whitebeard fleet fell silent, stunned by the sudden appearance of the dragon in the sky. Everyone wondered the same thing: Why is Kaido here?
Whitebeard had crushed the Hive Island Fleet not long ago, exposing their betrayal.
With war looming, Kaido suddenly appeared, raising all kinds of suspicions.
"Kaido!!" Marco shouted, voice echoing across the fleet. "State your purpose!"
Thunder boomed across the clouds as Kaido's massive form stirred within. Flashes of lightning illuminated his scaled body and clawed limbs.
"Yororororo!" came a strange laugh from the clouds. A colossal dragon's head emerged, its massive eyes looking down upon them like twin lanterns.
"Whitebeard… I heard you're heading to Marineford… to save that foolish Second Division Commander of yours—Fire Fist Ace, am I right?" Kaido sneered.
His voice thundered through the sky, shaking the sea below and stirring up crashing waves.
"What business is that of yours?" Whitebeard replied coldly.
"Yororororo!" Kaido laughed again, but no one dared join in. Despite the strange sound, the tension was suffocating.
"So it's true. You've grown old… and foolish too! You plan to storm Marineford by yourself? Do you think you're me—the strongest man at the peak of the world?"
Kaido's words stirred outrage. Pirates below began shouting angrily, furious at his arrogant tone and disrespect toward their captain.
"If you're only here to spew nonsense, then get lost," Whitebeard said, gripping the handle of his naginata. "I've got no time for pointless talk."
"Nonsense?" Kaido sneered. "This isn't nonsense—it's a warning not to ruin your legacy with a foolish move!"
"After all, that head of yours is mine to take! I'll step over your corpse to reach the top and become the Pirate King!"
Lightning flashed across the sky as his words echoed with thunder. "Take my head?" Whitebeard muttered. His gaze turned razor-sharp.
"If you dare speak such words, you better be ready to face the consequences, Kaido!!"
Suddenly, an overwhelming aura exploded from Whitebeard, blasting upward toward the dragon above.
The sky cracked under the pressure, clouds torn apart by the sheer force of his will.
"Consequences?" Kaido roared, whiskers whipping in the wind. "What consequences could stop me?"
"I've come to take your head before the Marines can—so I can end your life myself!"
At that moment, man and dragon locked eyes, the sky crackling with their power.
"We haven't even fought the Marines yet, and now we're clashing with another Emperor! Old man's insane! Even on the eve of war, he still confronts challengers head-on! A clash between Emperors is about to begin!"
The pirates watched in shock. Hearts pounded, breath caught in their throats—breathing under pressure was hard.
From Kaido's arrival to this moment, the scent of war has fully engulfed the sea.
"Crash!" Waves surged, rocking the ships. Many pirates stumbled from the force.
"Look! The sky's changed color! It's been split in two!"
"Is that from their auras?! This is terrifying—we're in hell itself!" Pirates trembled all over.
"Yororororo!" Kaido laughed again. "Whitebeard, at your age, you still dream of charging into enemy territory to save your precious subordinate?"
"You'll only be offering up your own head! Why not give it to me here and now? Let me use the last glimmer of your old glory to step into the light!"
His laughter echoed across the sea. "You're courting death," Whitebeard growled.
He suddenly released the naginata, letting it drop to the deck. Then, he lowered his body into a stance.
The Moby Dick sank deeper into the water under his weight, causing waves to swell around it. Then, he clenched his fist.
Pop! Crack!
Shimmering energy surrounded his knuckles—shockwaves formed, and the space around him trembled.
Visible cracks spread through the air itself. Marco and the others turned pale. Their captain was furious.
"Let me handle this." A deep voice rang out from the other side of the Moby Dick. The sea went still, and every pirate turned their head.
"Red-Haired!!!" someone shouted.
All eyes turned to a ship that had been sailing alongside them unnoticed. At the bow stood a man with one arm—Red-Haired Shanks.
He slowly drew the Western-style sword at his waist, his gaze cold and commanding.
"Kaido! Whitebeard has more important matters to deal with. If you insist on fighting—then I'll be your opponent!"
Shanks glared up at the dragon's head in the clouds, voice like thunder.
It shook the standoff between Whitebeard and Kaido, adding a new presence to the overwhelming atmosphere.
"Three Emperors… Their auras are splitting the sky into thirds!"
A pirate gasped, body trembling. Looking up, everyone could see clearly that the sky had been divided into three distinct zones, each marked by the overwhelming power of one of these monstrous men.
"It's terrifying!"
Some pirates collapsed, their strength gone. Lightning flashed in the clouds as Kaido turned his massive head, glaring down at the one-armed swordsman.
"Red-Hair… Shanks!! You're here too?" That caught him off guard.
He hadn't realised another Emperor had been among them. After all, in his observation, everyone seems to have nearsightedness or farsightedness.
"If you're itching for a fight, then face me! Or… give me some face and walk away from here."
Shanks' eyes were sharp as steel. Kaido fell silent. His enormous form swayed slightly in the air, and a cold smile appeared in his eyes.
"Face? Your face doesn't mean anything to me! But this… this is interesting. You two… actually teamed up?" A mocking grin spread across his dragon face.
"So the Marines scared you both that much? Looks like you are old, Whitebeard!!"
Shanks' expression turned dark, his icy gaze now crystal clear. Whitebeard, on the other hand, let out a deep laugh.
Veins bulged along his muscular arm, the sharp edges of his muscles clear as ever. The glowing shockwave expanded to a full meter across.
Crack!
The space around him shattered. "Gurarararara! No need, Red-Haired brat! Let him see how much strength still remains in these old bones of mine!"
Electricity flashed in Whitebeard's eyes as he spoke, his piercing gaze chilling to the bone. Then, his right arm swung forward with a sudden burst of force.
Buzz!
A mysterious surge rose like a tsunami, sweeping upward and crashing toward Kaido among the clouds.
Crack!
Countless fractures suddenly appeared—sharp and jagged—spreading rapidly from Whitebeard's fist like the branching limbs of a tree.
Thousands of meters above ground, the clouds split apart into pieces. Kaido's massive body trembled as his vertical pupils contracted in pain.
He let out a thunderous roar and swiftly coiled into a dragon formation.
"That punch... wasn't easy to take! Whitebeard!!"
The punch, infused with shockwaves, shattered the sky and injured Kaido's insides.
Even with his tough, impenetrable scales, he couldn't resist the internal destruction caused by Whitebeard's quake powers.
Every strike from Whitebeard was real damage—actual, physical trauma. That's what made him so terrifying.
His attacks were overwhelming even without infusing Armament Haki or Conqueror's Haki.
"Yorororo! Take this, then!" Kaido opened his dragon jaws. Crimson flames instantly swelled into a blazing red beam, and he unleashed it downward.
"Blast Breath!!"
The scorching dragon flame lit up the sky and dove toward the Moby Dick below, heating the air so fast it became suffocating.
Whitebeard's gaze sharpened. He gripped his bisento with one hand.
Black and red lightning suddenly erupted from the blade as violent Haki exploded around him, crackling like wild lightning.
"You're so arrogant, always talking about taking my head! Do you even know who I am, Kaido!!"
He slashed fiercely upward. Zzzrak! Black and red lightning tore through the air, splitting the sky and sea.
The crimson flames were cleanly cut apart. The terrifying shockwave carried by the slash extended through the fiery beam, instantly reaching Kaido.
His pupils shrank, and his massive body flickered as he narrowly dodged. The strike whistled past his dragon form and soared into the upper sky.
BOOM!!
A massive tremor shook the heavens. Kaido, still reeling, turned to see a huge rift in the sky behind him, carved out by Whitebeard's slash.
"I'm just old! I'm not dead yet!!" Whitebeard roared.
Time had taken its toll on his body, and the world treated him with growing hostility—Kaido and the Marines alike. Did they think age had made him weak?
Suddenly, shockwaves rippled beneath his feet. Buzz! The air trembled as the Moby Dick was pressed deep into the sea.
Whitebeard used the explosive force to launch himself into the sky. In the blink of an eye, he reached the clouds where Kaido hovered.
His eyes locked onto the massive dragon. With another quake from his feet, he rocketed forward.
"Kaido!! You want my head? Then let's see if you have what it takes!!"
He reached above Kaido's dragon head in an instant, both hands gripping his bisento as he swung it down.
Brilliant lightning exploded from the blade—black and red bolts lashing hundreds of meters outward. Kaido looked up just in time. His pupils shrank in alarm.
BOOM!
The strike, overwhelming and unstoppable, slammed into his skull. The sheer speed and force shook Kaido to his core.
His eyes bulged, and blood erupted from his mouth, dyeing the sky crimson. His colossal dragon body plummeted, but he quickly steadied himself.
His eyes hardened. With effort, his form rapidly shrank and transformed into a hybrid of dragon and human.
Zzzrak!
He grabbed his massive kanabo and surged into the sky toward Whitebeard.
"Then let's have a real fight, Whitebeard!!! Better to die here than fall to the Marines, leaving this world in disgrace!" Whitebeard's eyes gleamed coldly as he dove, bisento in hand.
Zzzrak!
Black and red lightning danced violently around them. Their eyes met, and sparks flared in the air.
In a flash, they collided.
"UWAHHHH!!"
Whitebeard roared, his white hair flying back as he swung his blade with all his might.
"Thunder Bagua!!" Kaido snarled, eyes wild.
BOOM!!
Their weapons clashed with a blinding flash, radiating waves of energy that swallowed everything.
RUMMMBBLLEE!!
The deafening blast drowned out all sound. Above the ocean, fierce gales tore in every direction, sending the massive fleet below into chaos.
"Hold onto anything you can! Don't get blown away by this wind! This is insane!" The collision high in the sky had triggered a disaster-level event.
Pirates' cloaks flapped madly in the wind, hair tossed like storm-tossed waves.
They clung desperately to railings and ropes, bracing against the hurricane-force winds.
The pirate flags atop the masts flapped like they were about to tear. Overhead, light burst out in waves.
Black and red lightning crackled, and a storm of Conqueror's Haki swept outward.
Pirates fainted in silence on ships closest to the clash, dropping to the deck as their crewmates shouted in shock.
"Whitebeard!!"
"Kaido!!"
On the bow of the Red Force, Shanks stood solemnly, gazing at the two glowing figures in the sky.
Ideally, the Red-Haired Pirates should've stepped in to block Kaido's advance. Then Whitebeard would head to Marineford to enter the war.
But clearly, things had spiralled out of control. Kaido's provocations had pushed Whitebeard, already simmering with fury, into launching this full-scale battle.
Hooohhhh!
The howling wind scattered the dark clouds across the sky. "A battle at the peak of the world," Benn Beckman muttered in awe.
Both Kaido and Whitebeard held titles that echoed through the ages.
"The world's strongest man—Edward Newgate! And in single combat, Kaido reigns supreme. The strongest creature, land, sea, or air," Shanks murmured.
Both were known for unmatched individual power. And that was exactly why they clashed—because there could only be one at the top.
Everyone knows the name of the first, the highest peak... but who remembers the second or third?
"Let's just hope this doesn't ruin the war to come," Shanks said quietly. His eyes flicked toward the sky, watching the two weapons locked in midair.
"Beckman," he said. "Be ready to step in. We can't let Whitebeard suffer heavy injuries before the real war begins."
Beckman nodded in agreement. Still, they couldn't help but be curious—curious about how intense the fight would be between the strongest man in the world and the king of one-on-one battles.
A battle like this might only happen once in decades—maybe even a century.
High in the sky—
Zzzzz!
Lightning crackled wildly around the bisento and the kanabo.
"Yorororo!" Kaido bellowed. "It's been years since we fought, Whitebeard! I still remember the old days on the Rocks crew!"
Kaido's eyes sharpened, a wide grin stretching across his face. He drew back his kanabo, muscles bulging, then swung it with all his might.
"Roaring Thunder Bagua!!!"
Whitebeard remained cold and composed. He raised his bisento and swung it to meet the blow.
BOOM!!
At the point of collision, a glowing orb exploded outward, lightning flashing in all directions, stretching for kilometres.
"The Rocks Pirates, huh? That was long ago."
Whitebeard's voice turned icy as he pressed down with both hands, his tone carrying the weight of old memories. "It's a past I'd rather not remember."
He paused, then smirked faintly. "But I do recall you, little brat. You were always flirting with that one female crewmate."
"What was her name again?" Kaido's grin vanished. His face turned cold. He didn't like that word—flirting.
"Charlotte Linlin, wasn't it?" Whitebeard said the name casually. Kaido's expression darkened further. He pulled back his kanabo.
In the sky, his body twisted, his legs stepping on the air as he shot upward in a strange movement.
Then he raised his weapon again, lightning crackling fiercely around it.
"That woman's one of the Four Emperors now, too! Whitebeard!!!"
He swung his kanabo with terrifying force. The very air seemed to collapse.
"Descending Three World: Ragnarok!!!"
Whitebeard's eyes turned razor sharp. He suddenly released the bisento with his right hand, then clenched his fist tightly.
Would you like the continuation?
"Gurararara! An Emperor, huh?" The thick arm slowly bent as the right fist swung upward.
Then, the fist collided with the kanabo, and in the air, a shockwave burst in rippling rings.
"Before I knew it, all you brats from the Rocks Pirates have grown up."
"But!" From his right fist, crackling black and red lightning exploded, surging against Kaido with a monstrous aura that shook the heavens.
"To stand equal with me, Whitebeard—and call yourselves Emperors? You think you're worthy?"
The explosive force of his punch erupted like a tidal wave, shaking Kaido's kanabo until it trembled violently.
In an instant, Kaido's face revealed pure shock. "This… how is this possible?!"
The next second, an immense shockwave blasted upward—his weapon nearly flew from his hand, and that single punch launched his entire body into the sky.
"It's been years…Now and then, I hear a lot about you. Plenty of people admire you. Respect you."
Whitebeard's voice echoed. His towering figure vanished almost faster than the eye could follow—suddenly, he was behind Kaido.
His expression was cold and dark, like a winter's midnight—grim and chilling.
Clenching his right fist, a crackle sounded as black and red lightning surged again, a glowing halo of shockwaves surrounding it.
"They even place you alongside me, As one of the Four Emperors." The icy words reached Kaido's ears, and he trembled. Madness flashed in his eyes as he gripped his kanabo tightly.
Then, twisting his waist, he spun and swung.
"What a joke.We are not of the same era!" Whitebeard's fist shot forward, his cold, furious eyes locking with Kaido's.
In that moment, the legend—this lone survivor of an era long past—gazed with such terrifying dignity that Kaido's heart skipped a beat.
Then that devastating punch struck his gut. The power surged like a tsunami, thunder, and volcanic eruption.
Kaido's abdomen caved inward, bones cracking audibly from within. His throat filled with blood, but his kanabo swung down as well.
"To me…You're nothing but kids playing pirate games!" Whitebeard's face didn't change. He kept speaking, ignoring the weapon swinging straight at him.
The kanabo, cloaked in Haki, approached fast, barely inches from his face.
CLANG!
Out of nowhere, a naginata intercepted it, blocking the strike cleanly. Kaido's pupils shrank as he staggered backwards.
In a short clash, he realised that although the old man had aged, his combat strength was still terrifying.
That punch…had already done severe damage to his body.
Cough! Cough! Cough!
Kaido spat blood to the side, then looked up again with a flicker in his gaze.
His expression was serious.
"Worororo! Whitebeard! You've grown old! Those kids playing pirate games will eventually grow up…and become real pirates sailing the seas!"
"But you…you've already aged. Sure, we're only about ten years apart—
But those ten years… mean the difference between life and death!"
Kaido exhaled twin streams of white breath from his nose and burst into laughter again.
Now, he saw it—behind that overwhelming strength, there was weakness.
Even the most minor flaw could prove fatal in a battle between true monsters.
Age—Something often overlooked…But undeniably real. It gnaws away at the body, a silent reminder of time's cruelty.
"Even someone like you…has things beyond your control!" Kaido gripped his kanabo tightly.
CRACKLE!
Lightning danced again as his overwhelming Haki surged, engulfing the entire sky.
With that massive body and endless stamina, he could fight at full power without worrying about fatigue. But the same couldn't be said for Whitebeard.
"This battle is already decided! Whitebeard!!" Kaido roared. Above his head, the clouds rumbled as thunder boomed and lightning split the sky.
"I heard there's a Marine named Arashi. They say he's the strongest legend the Marines have ever known!"
"Some even believe he'll lead the most powerful Marine era in history!"
Kaido's voice rang out. "Today, after I take your head in a fair and square battle…I'll go find that Arashi guy and settle things with him!"
"Then, I'll reach the Final Island…and become the Pirate King!"
Hearing the man across from him speak, Whitebeard didn't respond immediately.
"Gurararara!" He suddenly burst into laughter. Lifting his head, his aged eyes sparked with divine light, erupting with a chilling gleam.
"This world does treat old men poorly!" Gripping his naginata, his crescent-shaped moustache trembled. "Then let me show you…"
"Just how much strength this old man still has left!"
