Chapter 200 - Chapter 199: A Vision of the Future

Ryu offered full credit for the development of that region to the Daimyo and even offered that Daimyo himself to inaugurate the factory.

The Daimyo of the Land of Rivers thought, "He is not wrong about the western regions being impoverished and discontent with my rule. The stable income will enhance the economy there, and the dwindling population due to the harsh region will begin to support my rule. Many have migrated from the region to the east, and I couldn't stop it, but now I have a chance."

Ikkyu, being a friend, supported Ryu, but as the future lord of the Fire Nation, he was concerned about the potential loss of business from his country. The Daimyo was thinking of the benefit of the Land of Rivers and Ryu of his company, but he also had to consider the economic implications for his own nation.

"What do you want to sell that you cannot sell in the Land of Fire?" Ikkyu asked. "Since their nation is rich in iron, I recommended Land of Rivers for your factory. But you can also start other businesses in the Land of Fire. I am going to fully support you."

The future Daimyo, Ikkyu, asked, "What are you trying to sell that you cannot sell in the Land of Fire? Are you seeking to expand to foreign lands despite having my support?"

Ryu replied, "The Land of Fire is rich in the product I am going to make for the Land of Winds and Hidden Rain."

Ikkyu asked, "What is it?"

"Food", Ryu replied, "and corps. I am planning to grow food in the western region and, if possible, in the bordering desert town in the Land of Wind. The Land of Fire is rich in vegetation and fertile lands, so there is no significant profit in selling crops and food here."

Ikkyu replied, "Ryu, those regions are not fertile and lack fresh water, and that desert is a dead desert even by desert standards."

Ryu replied, "I know that. That's why I am going to do it. Isn't it thrilling to do what other people tell you is impossible and ask you not to do?"

Dan's eyes twitched, vividly recalling the day he advised Ryu against tampering with the fuinjutsu seals. However, Ryu defied his advice and revolutionised the fuinjutsu world by altering those very seals.

Daimyo replied, "Growing food in that region is impossible."

Ryu replied, "Not to offend you, but I do the impossible every other week."

Daimyo thought, 'Does he have a way to utilise the infertile soil and lack of water in that region? If yes, then he will solve the most serious problem of many nations.'

Ryu continued, "I plan to do business with both the Land of Wind and Hidden Rain. First, I am going to source crops from your country and later also grow crops there as well."

Dan, Daimyo, and Ikkyu thought, "Is this kid serious or just pulling our leg?"

Daimyo asked, "Considering the limited sunlight in Hidden Rain, how do you intend to grow crops in such conditions?"

Ryu smiled and said, "There are ways to do that. I am going to revolutionise and reinvent agriculture; I do not want to disclose my methods just yet. I want to change this world, and hunger and disease are my starting points."

Dan and Ikkyu already knew of Ryu's ambition and eagerly awaited to see how he would bring his innovative ideas to life. But to the Daimyo, Ryu's claim was surprising. Daimyo were intrigued by Ryu's ambitious plans and determination to make a difference in the world.

"Okay, I will believe you for now," Daimyo said, "even if you are going to do what you say. How do you plan to transport your product? Hidden Rain and Land of Wind are very harsh environments. Transportation is very limited, so doing business with them will be difficult."

Ryu replied, "You are right; that is a problem. But like every problem, there is a solution. One just has to work hard and look for solutions."

Ikkyu smiled, pondering, "How does he plan to manage transportation from that region? What innovative method is he considering for transport? A new transportation device, maybe, or his grandfather now has a more efficient [Storage Seal] that can store in bulk."

Storage Seals, despite their convenience, are not suitable for bulk transportation because using them for storage and retrieval requires chakra, which can only be executed by ninjas. And deploying ninjas comes with huge costs. Therefore, the transportation in the ninja world is done like how it was done in the mediaeval era, through ships and bull carts and other traditional methods that do not require chakra.

Daimyo was thinking the same, but unlike Ikkyu, he voiced his thoughts and asked him, " Using carts or storage seals will be expensive; do you have special methods to transport the goods?"

Ryu smiled, a confident gleam in his eye. "My next product could be a transportation vehicle powered by sunlight. It would revolutionise the way goods are transported, making it cheaper and more efficient."

When Ryu declared that both Ikkyu's and Daimyo's faces were like they had choked on something, Dan, who had been silent up until now, was also surprised by this.

Ikkyu had seen him do the impossible and had been given a tour of his factory, so he believed him, but Daimyo was still sceptical.

"You can't be serious," the Daimyo said finally, his voice trembling slightly. "A vehicle powered by sunlight? That's... that's impossible!"

Ryu chuckled, his tone calm and reassuring. "Impossible is just a word, Daimyo. With the right technology, anything is possible. I assure you, this is not a fantasy. It's the future."

Ikkyu considered the implications of introducing such technology in the ninja world. Lower transportation costs would lead to reduced goods prices and increased accessibility. Furthermore, if goods could be transported efficiently, it could also open possibilities for human transportation. The potential impact on the economy and society as a whole could be significant. It may even revolutionise the way ninjas operate and interact with the world around them.

Ikkyu smiled and thought, 'I couldn't wait for the day when it happens.'

Daimyo was also smart; he understood the importance of Ryu's claim and the benefits that come with robust transportation infrastructure. He knew that investing in transportation would not only benefit the economy but also improve the quality of life for all citizens.

The Daimyo recovered first, his voice tinged with scepticism. "If you can genuinely develop such a device, I will accept your terms, but only with tangible evidence to substantiate your claim."

Ryu replied, "Okay. Please forgive me if I have offended you. I know using a jutsu against a person of your stature is a crime, but if it is okay with you, I will show him by way of Genjutsu."

Daimyo looked at Ikkyu, and Ikkyu nodded, vouching for Ryu.

Ryu nodded and asked , "Please tell your guards that it is fine. If he sensed me using a jutsu on you, he might attack me."

Daimyo complied with the request and informed him of his genjutsu. The Daimyo thought that a kid like him would not have strong genjutsu and that it would be over in a second or two.

Daimyo agreed to be put under genjutsu and said, "I will trust you. Please go ahead and show me."

Ryu smiled and thought, "Okay, he agreed. I didn't think that he would agree to mind invasive genjutsu. But now I have to decide about how much to show the Daimyo."

He looked at Daimyo, waiting for the genjutsu to take effect, and thought, "Should I show him air travelling via aeroplanes? No. That is too much for now."

Ryu contemplated the extent of what he should reveal. If he reveals too much, it could appear not possible in their eyes. But if he reveals too little, the Daimyo might not be impressed. Ryu took a deep breath, carefully selecting the things to show the Daimyo in his genjutsu.

Daimyo thought, "What is he thinking? Is the genjutsu safe?"

Ryu thought, "Just electric trains and a bit of modern communications should be enough to impress him."

-Genjutsu: [Mind Palace Projection] activated

The visual of the room started to dismantle like a block of Legos, and a new view started to arrange itself. Everyone was now in a genjutsu world that Ryu had created. Ryu, Daimyo and Ikkyu then found themselves inside a passenger train coach. The train was moving fast through a lush green forest, with sunlight streaming in through the windows.

The sudden change in the environment startled the Daimyo and Ikkyu. Everyone was in a train and were seated in their seats.

Ryu smiled as he watched their reactions, knowing that his genjutsu had worked perfectly. He was confident that this experience would leave a lasting impression on both Daimyo and Ikkyu.

Daimyo asked, "What is this?"

Ryu replied, " This is a vision of the future. A future that could happen if we all work together, and what you are currently riding is my solution to our transportation problem."
