Chapter 37 - Max turned the game around.

"Julia, please don't worry about me, I've got this under control," Max said, his voice firm and reassuring. "I've already reached out to my cousin Sean, and he's on his way to help us uncover the truth behind William's sinister plot."

Julia's eyes welled up with tears as she gazed at Max, her mind racing with worst-case scenarios. She knew that Max was trying to protect her, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of helplessness.

"But what if something goes wrong?" Julia asked, her voice trembling. "What if William's accusations stick and you get arrested?"

Max's expression turned determined. "That's not going to happen, Julia. Sean is one of the best in the business, and he'll leave no stone unturned to clear my name. Besides, I have a plan to expose William's true intentions and bring him to justice."

Julia nodded, trying to appear strong, but her eyes betrayed her fear. She felt that Max was walking into a dangerous game, and she couldn't bear the thought of losing him.

With a heavy heart, Julia stood up and hugged Max tightly, tears streaming down her face. "Please be careful, Max. I can't lose you," she whispered.

Max held her close, his voice filled with conviction. "I promise I'll be back soon, Julia. Trust me, I'll make sure that William pays for his lies, and we can finally live our lives without fear."

Max stared softly at Julia and felt pity for her. He cursed himself for putting her through this emotional rollercoaster. Of course he was the CEO of the prominent Darius Group and there was nothing someone like William could do to him.

As Julia exited the room, she couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding. She knew that the road ahead would be treacherous, but she also knew that Max was determined to fight for their future together.

Immediately, Julia walked out of the police station. She sighted William as they stood face to face. Just then William laughed sarcastically, his eyes gleaming with malice.

"Julia, Julia, I have already warned your husband, but he refused to beg for mercy. This city is a society ruled by law. I use the law to protect my rights and interests. This is legal." He sneered. "Everyone has to pay for their actions.

"Julia's face twisted in fury. "You are so shameless," she spat. "Withdraw the complaint, and I will pay all the compensation. How much money do you want?" William's smile was cold and vicious. "Julia, you know what I want is not compensation." He put his hands in his pockets and leaned in closer. "You know exactly what I want." Julia trembled with anger at the despicable man in front of her.

The William she once knew was gone, replaced by this vile creature. "You're dreaming," she said through gritted teeth. William sneered and stepped even closer. "There is another way for me to withdraw my complaint," he said, his voice a low growl. "Your husband can kneel down and apologize to me, admitting he was wrong.

""William, you bastard!" Julia raised her hand and slapped him across the face. William recoiled, touching his cheek. His smile grew even colder. "It seems I have to re-examine the injury. Mind your actions, Julia. I guess you already know who's going to pay for this. He might be sentenced for a year.

No problem there." Hearing that Max might go to jail, Julia panicked. No matter how much she hated William, she had to suppress her anger. "How much money do you need to withdraw the complaint?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. "Don't think you're really great just because your twin sister studied law. If you don't withdraw the complaint, I will find a better lawyer, and I will fight you to the end.

"William's disdain was roused. "Julia, do you have the money, time, and energy to waste on me? As long as I drag this case, I can make your husband stay there for a few years. Even if the case isn't taken to court, he will stay for a long while. I have a lot of time to spend with you, and this is the price you pay for deceiving me back then."

Julia was disgusted by the shameless man standing before her. Her perception of him had completely changed. For Max's safety, she tried her best to restrain herself and explained gently, "I never lied to you. I really didn't do what you are accusing me of. You were the one who left first. William, why are you venting your anger on an innocent person? Things between you and me didn't work out. What right do you have to drag my husband into this?

What grievances do you have against him? Attack me if you want, but please let him go." William's eyes flashed with anger as Julia defended Max. "Julia, you are really shameless. And now you are shamelessly denying it. Do you want me to reveal what you did in college?" he said sarcastically. "Don't pretend to be pure. Because you're dirty in front of me." Julia was genuinely confused. What had she done in college to make William so angry? Could it be that she had really forgotten something?

Julia couldn't waste time anymore with him. She rushed to Willow Garden to find Georgina, hoping she could help get Max out on bail. As she left, several luxury cars drove up to the police station. Sean stepped out, bringing a dozen bodyguards and his lawyer with him.

Inside the police station, William walked out of the interrogation room, his confidence waning as he saw the scene in the lobby. Sean's presence made his heart skip a beat. Just then, a police officer told William to leave. "You can go now."" Yes," William said, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. He glanced at Sean and the bodyguards before walking out, determined to send Max to jail just to torture Julia.

Sean rushed into the police station, while Julia was out seeking help. Meanwhile, Max was actually drinking coffee with Chief Brandon in his office. The chief, having learned that the CEO of The Darius group and the heir of the Wellington Family had been taken to the police station, quickly came over to resolve the situation. Chief Brandon said to Max, "Mr. Wellington, this is a misunderstanding. My officers didn't know who you were. I apologize."" They were doing their job," Max said in a deep voice.

"Chief Brandon, it's already so late. I'm causing you trouble. I apologize." Chief Brandon was flattered. Just then, a police officer came in. "Chief, Mr. Wellington, I have sent William back." Chief Brandon looked at  Max, waiting for his next instruction. "It's already late. Thank you, Chief, for the coffee." Max got up, not intending to use his power to keep William in the police station. Destroying what William cherished most would be the best lesson.

Chief Brandon also stood up. "Mr. Wellington, you're welcome." The chief personally escorted Max out.

Sean saw Max coming out and stepped forward. "Max," he said. More than a dozen bodyguards greeted him in unison, "Mr. Wellington." Seeing that Sean had brought so many people, Max frowned coldly. "Go back." As he spoke he stepped forward, followed by the bodyguards.

Chief Brandon escorted him all the way to the gate." Goodbye, Chief Brandon," Max said. Chief Brandon stopped and waved respectfully, watching Max get into the car before wiping the cold sweat off his brow. The director beside him also broke into a cold sweat. "It's a good thing the Wellington Family isn't angry." Chief Brandon said, "Next time you do something so stupid, don't expect me to solve it for you." The director replied, "Yes, Chief. What about this case?"" What case? That William harassed him first and still had to make a complaint.
