"Who are you?" About five minutes after Daniel Davis sent his message, he received this question in his chat window.
"Who I am doesn't matter. The important thing is, do you want to recover?"
"What's your condition?"
"The condition is simple. I need some information."
Now that Daniel was in this world and had the strength, he naturally wanted to accomplish some things, such as eliminating the survivors of past wars. However, this task, though seemingly straightforward, was quite complicated, especially in terms of gathering intelligence.
Even though he had access to Red Queen's capabilities, not all intelligence could be obtained online. Some crucial information was stored in isolated systems, disconnected from any network. No matter how powerful Red Queen was, she couldn't access those without a connection. Therefore, Daniel needed to rely on other sources, and approaching Gao Erzhuang was a good option.
Gao Erzhuang, whose real name was Gao Yushan, was originally a disciple of Quanzhen's Wuliu Sect, the same lineage as Lu Linglong of the Lu family. His talent in cultivation was outstanding, having reached the level of manifesting his Yang spirit. However, he had been severely crippled and cut in half. If not for his dual cultivation technique, which focused on both life and essence, he would have long been dead.
"What is this guy trying to do?" Inside the secret base where Gao Erzhuang was located, his father, Gao Lian, and other company executives, who were connected via the network, fell into a heavy silence as they read Daniel's demands for information.
"Agree to it," said Zhao Fangxu, one of the company's senior executives, after contemplating for a while.
"Old Zhao, isn't that a bit risky? Could it lead to international disputes?" another senior executive hesitated, expressing concern.
"What disputes? And how does this concern us?" Zhao Fangxu dismissed the concerns and gave a direct order to Gao Lian.
"Erzhuang, tell him we agree to his terms, but he must heal you first," Gao Lian instructed without hesitation.
Gao Lian, a man with strong traditional values, had been heavily biased in favor of sons over daughters. This was evident in the names he gave his two daughters, "Da Zhuang" and "Er Zhuang," names traditionally associated with boys. His eldest daughter nearly cut ties with him over this. However, as times changed, Gao Lian had gradually realized his mistakes and was trying to repair his relationships with his daughters.
Although society had made progress, such gender biases still existed in some areas. For instance, the village chief's daughter, who was set to marry Jia Zhengliang from Jia Family Village, was named "Zhaodi," which literally meant "bring a younger brother."
Jia Zhengliang claimed to have left Jia Family Village to avenge his brother, Jia Zhengyu, by targeting Feng Baobao. But in reality, he was trying to avoid an arranged marriage.
"No problem, but when I treat you, I don't want anyone watching." Healing Gao Erzhuang wasn't difficult for Daniel, but to avoid exposing too much, he set a condition for privacy.
"Wow, didn't expect the big boss to show up!" After concluding his conversation with Gao Erzhuang, Daniel reentered the group chat. His sudden appearance sparked a flurry of activity in the chat, which was populated by various abnormal beings. Many of them were well-informed and knew about Daniel's involvement in key events, especially the trouble caused by the disappearance of one of the Ten Elders, Wang Ai. In today's world, with its rule of law, such incidents were particularly troublesome.
"This guy, Canglong..." Seeing a message from Canglong in the chat, Daniel quickly shut off his phone and scanned his surroundings, sensing several individuals approaching. With a flicker of movement, he vanished using Apparition.
Though Daniel was in negotiations with Gao Erzhuang, the company was unlikely to stop searching for him.
"Speaking of which, the martial arts movies in this world are quite well made—nothing like those over-the-top fantasy films." Daniel reappeared on the rooftop of a building, watching a giant screen displaying a newly released martial arts film.
Although most entertainment companies in this world were run by ordinary people, some were controlled by abnormal beings, especially in the martial arts genre. Films made by abnormal beings had a realism that required only minimal special effects.
The entertainment industry here had cleaned up its act significantly. Although there were still issues like the casting couch, anyone who tried to exploit abnormal beings found themselves in serious trouble. For example, someone who tried to manipulate Zhuge Qing had vanished from the entertainment world entirely.
"Quite a well-built body. I wonder who was ruthless enough to do this." In the lobby of an abandoned building, Daniel observed the upper half of Gao Erzhuang's body encased in a special device and shook his head slightly.
He then opened the device and used the Archangel's Breath to heal Gao Erzhuang. Although Dual Mastery could also restore him, the Archangel's Breath was far superior.
"After this, I can't use this identity anymore." The ability to completely restore someone like Gao Erzhuang could be a lifesaving gift to many. Once the healing was complete, Daniel took a hard drive from the side and vanished again with Apparition.
"Quite a lot of information." In the Mirror Dimension, Daniel reviewed the data on the hard drive before destroying it and discarding it in the mirrored space.
"We've lost track of him. Based on current information, the target likely has space-manipulating abilities, possibly long-distance teleportation." Back at the company, in a room filled with high-tech equipment, a staff member reported to the senior executives.
While Feng Shayan wasn't the only innate abnormal person with spatial abilities, most could only teleport over short distances.
"Tell our international contacts to keep an eye out."
"He sure knows how to live." In the Western world, Daniel smirked as he looked at an old man reclining on a chair on a private beach.
The man appeared elderly but had a body that was extraordinarily strong and muscular, completely at odds with his age.
"Living it up, old man?" As Daniel's voice echoed across the beach, the elderly man leaped from the chair with speed belying his years, staring warily in the direction of the voice.
"Who are you?" the old man asked, quietly activating a hidden alarm on his person.
"The one who's here to kill you." Daniel's right hand conjured a black longsword—the Black Sword from Black and White Xuanzhan.
"You think you can kill me? You're courting death!" the old man roared as his body began to swell. Thick black fur sprouted from his skin, his hands transformed into sharp claws, and in seconds, he had become a three-meter-tall black werewolf radiating powerful black Qi.
Levi, an innate abnormal person and one of the top experts in the Western world, was a member of the Dark Council. Unlike the werewolves in the Harry Potter world, Levi was still fundamentally human, and his transformation was a result of his innate powers.
Werewolves, vampires, and other such creatures were very real in the world of The Outcast, all classified as innate abnormal beings. These kinds of people weren't uncommon in the abnormal world, much like Chen Jinyan, a lizard man who was childhood friends with Chen Duo.
In addition to werewolves and vampires, there were also bear men, leopard men, and other animal-based abnormal people. The world of The Outcast was full of strange abilities. In places like Africa, some groups even practiced totemic worship, borrowing the power of nature gods. Magic also existed, and the Flamel Academy in England was quite famous, with connections to the old Celestial Master of Longhu Mountain.
However, whether it was werewolves, vampires, or even the power of nature gods and mages, they all ultimately used the same energy—Qi. Depending on the country or tradition, Qi had different names, such as Dou Qi, magic power, or chakra.
Because of this, vampires in this world couldn't create offspring by drinking blood.
Roaring, Levi lunged at Daniel, his massive werewolf body moving like a black lightning bolt across the soft sand. He appeared in front of Daniel in an instant, his sharp claws slicing through the air toward Daniel's neck.
Just as a savage grin spread across Levi's wolf-like face, a flash of light streaked through the air. A moment later, Levi felt a sharp pain and saw his right arm fly through the air, severed from his body.
"Ah!" Levi screamed in agony, but before he could react, his left arm met the same fate. With both arms gone, Levi reverted to his human form, writhing in the sand, his blood turning the beach crimson.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
From a distance, several guards rushed toward Daniel, opening fire with their handguns. These guards weren't ordinary people; they were abnormal beings armed with firearms. Normally, even the Tang Sect would struggle with such a heavily guarded target.
But for Daniel, it was no challenge. With a wave of his left hand, he caught all the bullets mid-air, then flicked them back toward the guards, each one falling as the bullets pierced their bodies.
"Werewolves, huh?" After dealing with the guards, Daniel knocked Levi unconscious and proceeded to eliminate everyone on the private island.
He didn't leave immediately. Instead, he set up a mobile laboratory on the island and began researching the innate abnormal beings. In China, it was difficult for Daniel to find innate abnormal people to experiment on, but here, he had no such restrictions.
"As expected, they're quite different from the werewolves in Harry
Potter." Daniel had previously studied the werewolves of the Harry Potter universe, though he hadn't bothered with vampires, considering them too weak to be worth the effort.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
After conducting his research and collecting genetic samples, Daniel unleashed a series of powerful punches on the island's center, causing it to collapse. As the waves calmed, the island had vanished beneath the sea.
"Let me show you the real power of the Gate of Secrets and what a true assassination looks like." With Levi dealt with, Daniel moved on to his next target, the chairman of a Fortune 500 company.
Since this target was in a city, and Daniel wanted to test other methods, he opted for a sniper attack instead of a direct confrontation.
From within the Gate of Secrets, Daniel set up his Hecate sniper rifle, loaded a special bullet that had been enhanced with the Refining Furnace, and summoned a solid projection using Akern's Form. The projection opened a golden portal through the Gate of Secrets, and Daniel fired a single shot at the chairman, who was heavily guarded by abnormal bodyguards.
Even though the chairman sensed the danger at the last moment and activated a powerful Qi shield, it wasn't enough to stop the lethal bullet.
"Ten years of training, yet a single bullet ends it. No wonder the strength of abnormal beings has been declining." After finishing the job, Daniel vanished again.
"I could probably handle a full-scale war at this point." With the Gate of Secrets, Daniel could set up a barrage of firepower and open multiple portals using Akern's Form to unleash it all at once—a devastating combination of mysticism and technology.
"This is the last one." Daniel descended to a manor in the mountains of Japan.
"Who's there?" Two guards at the gate, armed with katanas, rushed at him.
"Samurai, Onmyoji, ninja, priests, monks," Daniel muttered to himself as he waved his right hand, and the Black Sword effortlessly dispatched the guards.
The sounds of battle quickly alerted the manor's residents, and soon a group of samurai, led by a middle-aged man, emerged from the house.
"Who are you?" the man asked.
"The one who's going to kill you." Without further words, Daniel attacked, cutting down one samurai after another with swift, precise strikes. He made his way to the rear courtyard, where the head of the household, an old man, sat calmly with a cursed sword resting on his lap.
"A demonic sword, huh?" Daniel waited for the old man to rise, and the moment he struck, Daniel's Black Sword released an overwhelming wave of sword energy.
"So much for your 'draw slash,'" Daniel said as he turned to leave. As he stepped out of the courtyard, the old man's forehead split open along a red line, his body falling in two. The cursed sword shattered into dozens of pieces.
Boom!
At the same time, the manor behind the old man was split in two, leaving a deep trench nearly a hundred meters long in the ground.
Clap.
As Daniel exited the manor, he clapped his hands together and touched the ground. Using alchemy, he sank the entire estate into the earth.
"Next up, the Onmyoji. Their Yin-Yang techniques seem quite interesting." The similarities between Yin-Yang techniques and talismans had piqued Daniel's curiosity, and he was eager to explore their secrets.
