"Has Wang Ye already taken the Zhenren Pill?" Daniel, watching Wang Ye dominate Zhuge Qing with just Taiji Fist, couldn't help but wonder.
In the original story, Wang Ye resorted to using Fenghou Qimen against Zhuge Qing because he couldn't defeat him with just Taiji Fist. But this time, things were different. Under Wang Ye's relentless Taiji Fist assault, Zhuge Qing was forced to retreat repeatedly. His jacket, draped over his shoulders, was shattered by the force of Wang Ye's strikes. However, Zhuge Qing cleverly used the jacket as a distraction, performing a clever "Golden Cicada Shedding Its Skin" technique to escape the Taiji field's influence.
The power of Taiji Fist lay not only in its balance of hardness and softness but also in the way it could envelop opponents in a field, making them helpless to resist. Fighting a prolonged battle against a Taiji expert was a losing strategy. Once trapped within the Taiji field, every move the opponent made would be absorbed and redirected, allowing the practitioner to exhaust their opponent with minimal effort.
"I never expected this young Wudang disciple to be so skilled. I must have overlooked him before," Lu Jin said, shaking his head in amazement.
Though Lu Jin wasn't well-acquainted with Wang Ye, he did know Wudang's leader, Zhou Meng. In fact, they were part of the same social media group chat. In the modern world, aside from a few stubborn traditionalists, most people, including the elderly, had adapted to new technology. The advent of mobile phones and the internet had greatly shortened the time and distance needed for communication.
In the past, if there were any changes at the Luo Tian Dajiao, Longhu Mountain's Heavenly Master Sect would have had to send numerous disciples to notify various sects. But now, one phone call was enough to inform everyone.
Zhou Meng, the head of Wudang, initially resisted using the internet, but when everyone else started, he had no choice but to learn. He, the Old Heavenly Master, Lu Jin, and other elders even had their own private group chat. Of course, people like Wang Ai and Lü Ci were not included.
"Wang Daozhang, do you really think you can defeat me using only Taiji Fist?" Zhuge Qing, having escaped the Taiji field, took deep breaths and stared at Wang Ye.
"What else do you expect?" Wang Ye replied calmly.
"If I'm not mistaken, Wang Daozhang is also a skilled sorcerer, isn't he?" Zhuge Qing stared intently at Wang Ye.
Though Wang Ye had only used Taiji Fist so far, Zhuge Qing could tell he was also a sorcerer because Zhuge Qing himself was one. While most people might only see Wang Ye's Ba Gua footwork, to a fellow sorcerer, it was clearly the movement of a master of Feng Shui.
"You really are a nuisance," Wang Ye sighed before stepping forward, preparing to attack Zhuge Qing once more. Having boosted his strength with the Zhenren Pill, Wang Ye had no intention of revealing his Fenghou Qimen. He was all too aware of the kind of trouble that came with possessing one of the Eight Great Techniques—big trouble.
"Mountain Wall of Gen!" Zhuge Qing shouted as Wang Ye closed in. With a wave of his hand, a wall of earth rose between them, blocking Wang Ye's punch. But in the next moment, Wang Ye shattered the wall, only to find that Zhuge Qing had disappeared, reappearing several meters behind him.
"Ba Men Ban Yun, huh?" Wang Ye murmured, glancing at Zhuge Qing's new position.
Sorcerers had an inherent advantage over yi ren at the same level due to their ability to cast spells. Some could even teleport within their own Feng Shui arrays, though only within the range of the array itself.
The Zhuge family practiced the "Four Disks" technique, based on Heaven, Earth, Human, and Spirit:
- The Heaven Disk referred to the Nine Stars: Tianpeng, Tianren, Tianchong, Tianfu, Tianying, Tianrui, Tianzhu, Tianxin, and Tianqin.
- The Earth Disk represented the Eight Trigrams: Qian, Zhen, Kan, Gen, Kun, Xun, Li, and Dui.
- The Human Disk referred to the Eight Gates: Rest, Life, Injury, Stagnation, View, Death, Fear, and Open.
- The Spirit Disk referred to the Eight Spirits: True Sign, Flying Snake, Taiyin, Six Harmony, Hook, Red Bird, Nine Earth, and Nine Heavens.
Given the complexity of sorcery, Daniel, who had initially been eager to learn the Fenghou Qimen, had set the idea aside. It wasn't that he couldn't grasp it—it was just that mastering it would take too much time and effort. Zhao Niang's quick entry into the realm of sorcery through her inner reflection was truly remarkable.
These elements of sorcery were only the basics. On top of that, there were distinctions between Yin and Yang in the Spirit Disk, and the interactions between the five elements had to be carefully considered.
As Daniel reflected on the intricacies of sorcery, Zhuge Qing unleashed a barrage of spells on Wang Ye: Kun Character Earth Wheel, Kun Character Flowing Stone, Xun Character Wind Rope, Li Character Fire Chain, Kan Character Water Bullet.
Before long, stone, fire, and water dragons filled the battlefield, leaving many spectators in awe. Zhang Chulan, watching from the sidelines, muttered to himself, wondering how he could ever defeat such an opponent.
This fight was vastly different from the original. In the original story, Wang Ye had been forced to reveal his Fenghou Qimen, causing Zhuge Qing to surrender. As a result, Zhuge Qing hadn't fully demonstrated his sorcerer's abilities. This time, however, without Wang Ye using his Fenghou Qimen, Zhuge Qing was free to showcase his full sorcery might. Zhang Chulan wouldn't stand a chance against this version of Zhuge Qing, and even Zhang Lingyu would struggle.
But despite Zhuge Qing's impressive sorcery, the most shocking display came from Wang Ye. He wielded Taiji Fist with such mastery that he countered every spell Zhuge Qing threw at him. A fire dragon was compressed into a fireball and launched into the air like a grand firework; a water dragon was transformed into a gentle drizzle; an earth dragon was reduced to mere dirt clumps.
"How are you doing this?" Zhuge Qing's face darkened as his relentless spellcasting failed to harm Wang Ye. While it appeared that Wang Ye was simply using raw strength to counter his magic, Zhuge Qing knew better. Wang Ye's positioning nullified the effects of his spells.
Sorcery relied heavily on positioning. Standing in the correct spot could greatly enhance the power of a spell, while standing in the wrong one could diminish it. Zhuge Qing had previously demonstrated this when he used fire to defeat the Little Fire God, not because his fire was stronger, but because he had weakened the Fire God's flames.
"Are you ready to surrender now?" Wang Ye asked, noticing Zhuge Qing had stopped attacking. Though both had expended considerable energy, the fight had gone on long enough. If it weren't for the Zhenren Pill, Wang Ye wouldn't have lasted this long.
"You truly are a sorcerer," Zhuge Qing muttered bitterly. As the next heir of the Zhuge family, it was humiliating not to have forced his opponent to reveal their true power. Worse, his opponent was also a sorcerer, which only added to the insult.
"I said it's getting late. Everyone's waiting on us. Let's call it here," Wang Ye sighed.
Ignoring Wang Ye's words, Zhuge Qing activated the Qimen Xiangxin Heart Method, a technique that allowed him to see the layout of sorcerer arrays. Nearby, his younger brother, Zhuge Bai, burst into tears.
With his eyes glowing brightly, Zhuge Qing prepared for his final move. Wang Ye, realizing what was about to happen, swiftly appeared in front of him and delivered a punch to Zhuge Qing's chest, forcing him to cough up blood.
"You... son of a...!" Wang Ye cursed as he realized what Zhuge Qing had been trying to do. Apologizing to his ancestors for his outburst, he then said calmly, "Watch carefully. I'll show you just once."
"Still too soft-hearted, Wang Ye," Daniel muttered from the sidelines as he watched Wang Ye explain the secrets of Fenghou Qimen to Zhuge Qing.
With his current strength, Wang Ye could easily have won without revealing Fenghou Qimen, but Zhuge Qing's stubbornness would have put his life at risk. Sorcerers had the ability to divine the future, but doing so came with a price. Wang Ye himself had been severely injured after using Fenghou Qimen to foresee the outcome of the Luo Tian Dajiao, and Zhuge Qing would have suffered similarly if left unchecked.
"How is this possible?" Zhuge Qing gasped, staring at Wang Ye's Fenghou Qimen array through his heart technique. To a sorcerer like Zhuge Qing, sorcery was the embodiment of universal laws, a strict and logical system.
But Wang Ye's array defied those very laws, breaking every rule Zhuge
Qing had ever learned.
"I am the position. I am the fortune," Wang Ye said, his voice calm yet filled with authority.
